While bears are typically more active this time of year, there has been a slight uptick in bear movement in the Gunnison Valley this season, particularly trash-centered incidences occurring at night. “While it’s pretty normal this time of year to see bears, we have seen more bears in town [this season] than we have in the past,” said Gunnison Chief of Police Sam Costello. “It’s not really aggressive, more foodseeking.
