Graffiti, the writing on the Wall
40 Page A5 zine.
Graffiti is writing or drawings made on a wall or other surface, usually without permission and within public view. It ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.
In times of conflict, such murals have offered a means of communication and self-expression for members of socially, ethnically, or racially divided communities, and have proven themselves as effective tools in establishing dialog, critical of politics.
In modern times, paint (particularly spray paint) and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials.
