New Member Guide
we're so glad you're here WELCOME
We are so glad that you have made the decision to become a member of Alamance Country Club. Please use this guide as a resource to familiarize yourself with Club polices, hours of operation, and other pertinent information..
In early 1946, there was a discussion between Thomas D. Cooper (Tom) and Emerson T. Sanders (Curly), relating to the formation of a new Country Club. There were two definite views for a new club from the members of the old Piedmont Country Club, which existed until 1945. Some wanted a Championship 18-hole golf course, with swimming, tennis, and a full service clubhouse, while others wanted a 9-hole course with no other facilities or amenities. Even through the opposition, Tom and Curly won their battle, and thus began Alamance Country Club.
The Club has been through many changes since that day in 1946 and has become one of the best clubs in North Carolina, and even the South. Our premier golf course was designed by Donald Ross of Pinehurst, who was considered the best golf course architect in the United States. The course went through a complete renovation in 1999 under the guidance of Robert Cupp. Mr. Cupp used the original Ross plans throughout the renovation process.
Over the past seven decades the Club has grown and changed into what it is today. We thank Tom Cooper for his dream, and we continue to appreciate his vision to make Alamance Country Club the best.

GENERAL RULES
GENERAL RULES
1.
All golfers must register in the Golf Shop prior to play.
2. Bicycles, motorbikes, joggers and walkers are not allowed on the course. (Members are allowed to walk or jog on the cart path before dawn and after dusk.)
3. Unless otherwise directed by the Professional Golf Staff play must begin at the 1st Tee and proceed to the 18th Green in sequential order.
4. Priority of course play will be as follows: 1) Foursomes, 2) Threesomes, 3) Twosomes and 4) Single Players.
5. We are committed to the principle that an 18-hole round of golf should require no more than four hours for a foursome. It is the responsibility of each player to see that his or her group keeps pace with the group in front. Although foursomes on pace for a round of four hours or less have priority, generally, slower groups must give way to faster groups. Any group that fails to maintain the pace of a four-hour round is subject to remedial action by the Golf Professional Staff. The judgment of and action by the Professional Golf Staff on these matters will be, in all cases, final.
