Alamance Country Club
Weekly Update
August 6 August 15
Dear A.C.C. Family, Man was it hot last week! Glad we are getting a week of reprieve as we roll into August. Hard to believe we’ve got less than a month until school starts and about 5 weeks left in the pool season. I just want to remind everyone to please continue to be aware of kids in the street as you drive near the club and parents, please remind your children to be careful and aware of cars and other vehicles (golf carts and tractors). At our last board meeting Governor Cooper had not yet made his announcement regarding the most recent executive order. At that time it was my recommendation to continue with the policy that our indoor staff who interact with members continue to mask. I know this decision didn’t make staff happy but my desire here is to keep our staff safe and healthy. We are very busy with Club activities and we are also in the process of rebuilding our staff as students return to college and high school in addition to ramping up our capacity for events, camps, and instruction. Given the current labor market conditions it would be very difficult for us to operate IF we were to have COVID related absences amongst our team. The past 18 months have been a challenge and I just want to say Thank You to all of our members who have been nothing but encouraging and engaging in the activities we have been able to offer. I also want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our staff! They have worked hard, been flexible with change, and have smiled the whole time (even if you can’t see it under the mask). I would also like to take a second and remind everyone of our reservations policy. There are two parts to this; A la carte dining We will hold your table for up to 30 minutes past your reservation time if you have not notified us of any changes. After 30 minutes if that table is needed we reserve the right to use the table to serve other members. Please remember that you may order at the bar and seating there is available on a first come first served basis. Club Events Reservations are required for almost all of our club events to help us better serve you. If reservations are not canceled at least 48 hours prior to the event, the member will be charged 50% of the cost; less than 24 hours will be charged 100% of the cost. We will waive any of the cancellation charges if another member can fill the cancelled reservation. Reservations are super important in our ability to staff correctly, manage expenses, and ensure that we have adequate inventory. Given the current challenges in staffing and the supply chain it is even more important that we get a head start in our planning efforts through reservations. We are looking forward to an active fall with numerous events on the golf course, some 75th anniversary events, kids programs, and some new culinary adventures. We are nearing the end of our search for our next Executive Chef and I hope to be able to make that introduction to you shortly. I hope everyone has a great August with a fantastic wind down of summer and a great start to a new school year! I look forward to seeing you around the Club.
