KALIBO, AKLAN, (PIA) – Household population in the province of Aklan increased by 7.3 percent from 2010 to 2015, records from Philippine Statistics Authority – Aklan showed. Based on the latest results of the 2015 Census of Population conducted by PSA here, household population in the province as of August 2015 was 572,599; while in 2010 was 533,573; showing a 39,026 increase in a span of five years. PSA-Aklan also noted that for the past 15 years, the household population in Aklan surged by 27.14 percent; wherein the recorded household population in 2000 was 450,353. Aklan contributed 7.77 percent to the 7.4 million household population in Western Visayas. Among the five provinces in the region, Aklan ranked fourth in terms of household population size. In a press release, PSA-Aklan explained that the household population comprised 99.6 percent of the total Aklan’s population, while the 0.4 percent includes institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps.
