Save the Date! Friday, Sept. 28 The date for Doggday ‘07 has been set and is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 28, 2007, again at the Bedford Golf & Tennis Club. As we have done in the past, there will be golf and tennis tournaments, followed by a cookout and entertainment….. not to mention the wonderful prize-filled auction. Doggday 2006 Although we were fearful of a cold and windy day in mid-October, the weather was delightful and the Bedford countryside resplendent in its finest fall foliage. A capacity crowd of golfers teed off in 60 degree weather while the tennis players basked in the October sun. After a prize ceremony and dinner, we held our second annual auction which once again proved extremely successful. Many thanks to auctioneer extraordinaire Dede Brooks for her help, and contributers Dorothy Cavanaugh, and the Donelan, Einhorn, Hyland, Rice and Sachs families among others for their wonderful contributions! This year we missed the incomparable Ben Cameron but thanks to John Hyland we had a wonderful band and the party really kept rolling. With over 250 in attendance and over $185,000 raised, Doggday ‘06 was more than a worthy successor to our prior events. The Dwyer family would like to express their deepest appreciation to everyone who attended and contributed.

Since the inception of the Andrew K. Dwyer Foundation, we dentified The Waterside School as a place that fully embodies our intentions to provide opportunities otherwise not afforded disadvantaged students. Waterside is a K to 5 independent day school for low income children of above average academic ability located in Stamford, Connecticut. Founded in 2001, the school prepares children to succeed in the classroom and become contributing members of society. Three Years ago, Cindy Dwyer, a Waterside tutor and mentor, was speaking to her second grade class about possible field trips they would like to take. Previously she had taken another grade up to New Haven where the children were taught to skate by the Yale Women’s and Men’s Hockey team and then given a tour of the Peabody Museum of Natural History.
