This is a truly sensational year for us here at the Palace Theatre and Opera House!
We will be welcoming some of the biggest and most spectacular shows in the UK to our stages. Make sure to bring your loved ones to see the incredible Mary Poppins this spring. Book now while tickets are still available for the fantastic Moulin Rouge! The Musical – as it comes to Manchester for the very first time this summer. If you like to be ahead of the pack, then we are delighted to be hosting three world premieres this year
– A Knight’s Tale the Musical, Come Fall in Love: The DDLJ Musical and 13 Going on 30 – The Musical will all be performed first in Manchester before anywhere else in the country – see them first with us.
Plus there’s a brilliant range of dance, music, comedy and drama coming up too… there’s so much on offer that I think you may even find it a little hard to choose what to book next!
I also want to highlight the Palace Theatre & Opera House Trust. It’s a new independent charity which has recently been set up to support the development of Creative Learning activities at both our venues, and raise money to ensure more people can take part –particularly those who wouldn’t ordinarily have had access to the work the theatres do. If you’d like to support the charity you can find out more at ptohtrust.org
We are so proud that more than one million ticket holders chose to visit us at the Palace and Opera House in 2024. Will you join them this year? I hope so!

FALL IN LOVE WITH COME FALL IN LOVE
A must-see musical that speaks a universal language.
Bollywood glamour and West End glitz collide in Come Fall in Love, a joyous, globe-trotting romcom starring Jena Pandya (Mamma Mia!, Bhangra Nation) as Simran and Ashley Day (Netflix’s Dynasty, An American in Paris) as Roger. The musical is adapted from India’s longest running blockbuster movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, also known as DDLJ. The popular Hindi-language film is the longest-running title in Indian cinema history, playing continuously in Mumbai since its release in 1995.
The story focuses on Simran, a young British Indian woman preparing for an arranged marriage in India. Before embracing her fate, she sets off on a European journey, where she crosses paths with Roger – a wealthy, charming British man who embodies everything her father dreads. Undeterred by their differences, Roger resolves to win over Simran’s family and prove his love. As their passionate romance unfolds, they navigate cultural traditions and familial pressures, crafting a heartfelt tale of love that defies expectations and transcends borders.
Jena Pandya said, ‘I’m thrilled to be playing Simran in Come Fall in Love. It’s amazing to

be part of telling a story that means so much to so many people. The original film has become a part of the cultural fabric of India, and to get to bring this story to life on-stage in Manchester is such a joy.’
Ashley Day added, ‘Come Fall in Love is a true romantic comedy. The script is incredibly funny and full of heart and shows two cultures, each staying true to their roots while embracing something bigger than themselves. The music has this unbelievable mix of musical theatre and Punjabi pop – something l’ve never seen done on-stage. It’s a story about family, love, empathy, and fighting for what truly matters!’
By honouring its Bollywood roots while embracing the dynamism of the stage, this production reaffirms the universal power of love and music. It truly is one of the mustsee musicals at Manchester’s Opera House this season.
Brought to you by an award-winning creative team, Come Fall in Love: The DDLJ Musical features book & lyrics by Olivier Awardwinning Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls with Tina Fey, Legally Blonde with Laurence O’Keefe), music by legendary composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, choreography by Olivier, Tony and Emmy Award-winning Rob Ashford (Frozen, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), and Indian dancing by co-choreographer Shruti Merchant (Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Taj Express) and scenic design by Tony® Award-winning Derek McLane (MJ The Musical and Moulin Rouge! The Musical)
