ANOTHER SUNNY AFTERNOON

Sunny

Afternoon returns to UK stages,

bringing to life the music, the drama, and the legacy of The Kinks’ incredible rise to fame.

Get ready to turn up the volume – Sunny Afternoon, the Olivier Award-winning musical celebrating the music and story of The Kinks, is hitting the road again for a brand new UK tour in 2025/26. Developed over four years by The Kinks co-founder Ray Davies CBE, Australian playwright Joe Penhall, and acclaimed West End producer Sonia Friedman, the show first burst onto the stage at Hampstead Theatre in 2014 before transferring to the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End. It didn’t just play to packed houses – it captured hearts, selling over 430,000 tickets during its two-year West End run.

Based on the electrifying rise of The Kinks, one of the most iconic rock bands to emerge from Britain during the late 20th century, Sunny Afternoon is set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the rebellious 60s.

This exhilarating production brings to life The Kinks’ journey through success, sibling rivalry, and the sound that defined a generation –

and still inspires today. With a soundtrack of legendary hits like You Really Got Me, Lola, and All Day and All of the Night, audiences are treated to a story packed with raw energy, humour, heartbreak, and music that never ceases to resonate through every generation.

Following its West End triumph, Sunny Afternoon toured the UK and Ireland in 2016 and 2017, playing in 34 cities, and entertaining over 300,000 fans. The production scooped four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music for Ray Davies – a testament to the power of The Kinks’ music and the authenticity of their story.

And now, it’s back! This highly anticipated revival comes courtesy of Sonia Friedman Productions and ATG Productions. Davies himself expressed his excitement, noting, ‘In these times of political uncertainties, it is a relief to know that Sunny Afternoon is on the horizon to lift our spirits.’

The production is directed by Edward Hall and boasts a creative team including designer Miriam Buether, with choreography by Adam Cooper, lighting design by Rick Fisher and sound design by Matt McKenzie. Musical and vocal adaptations are by Ray Davies and Elliott Ware based on original Kinks’ recordings. Sunny Afternoon remains a shining example of what happens when world-class storytelling meets legendary music.

As producer Sonia Friedman puts it, ‘I’m thrilled that we’re bringing back our joyous, celebratory, Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical for a new UK tour. Ray Davies’ music and lyrics capture the poetry and poignancy of everyday life with honesty and wit. I can’t wait for audiences across the UK to see it –

I’ve truly missed it.’

Sunny Afternoon

The Olivier Award-winning musical sensation about one of Britain’s greatest bands is back. ‘A blazing triumph. I swear you’ll get goosebumps.’ (The Telegraph)

Winning the Olivier for ‘Best New Musical’, Sunny Afternoon charts the euphoric highs and agonising lows of one of the most iconic bands of all time – jam-packed with the irresistible music that influenced a generation.

Set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the rebellious 60s, Sunny Afternoon is an ‘exhilarating’ (Financial Times) and moving celebration of the band that changed it all. Ages 12+

LOSE YOURSELF IN THE MAGIC OF SNOW

Award-winning clown and artist, Slava Polunin brings winter magic in his SnowShow this festive season.

What should audiences expect from Slava’s SnowShow? A journey into childhood, sparkling with dreams, covered by a snowy blanket, and filled with anticipation. A trip into a world of bright colours, true feelings and important small details, only noticed when you’re little. Each person sees their own story in the show. This is very important to me.

What kind of feelings do you want to pass to the audiences through your show? The main feeling that people share spontaneously is the joy of returning to a stage of childhood where a sense of playful freedom overcomes our fears and habits.

Why not use any language? I love absurd and fantastic reality, and I do not trust the ‘spoken word’ – that is what made me choose clowning. For me, expression without words is more organic and natural than using words on-stage. Visual language is richer, more personalised and elusive.

Who comes out of the show most enchanted, children or adults? For us, the main part of the theatre audience is grown-ups. Children are already a happy crowd of people, they haven’t yet touched the troubles of life, and the entire world is open and boundless. Imagination and joy fills them if they are not in a challenged social situation. Adults, however, often make themselves very rigid and complicate things. And yet, if one stays connected to his inner child, everything becomes much easier and jollier. This is what we try to do.

Why is the interactive participation with the audience in Slava’s SnowShow so important?

The most magical thing in this show is communication with the public, but it’s not a verbal connection, we are purely visual encouraging elusive fibres of contact which appear between an artist and spectator during the show. This subtle interaction is something that creates the magic of the theatre.

Why do you want to use the element of snow in the show? What is the magic about it?

Many things in the show come from childhood memories, like the image of snow, for example. What I love most about theatre is the magic. Initially, theatre consists of ritual; the magical and aesthetic, but the magical part has been vanishing – I would love to bring it back.

Snow is one of the magical things. It can be unbelievably beautiful, it brings immense joy, when you build snow fortresses, speed down the slope on a sledge, when you can surround your house with an army of funny snow people.

Slava’s SnowShow

Join us for an unforgettable experience that promises to sprinkle a little magic into your life and remind you of the joy in being wonderfully silly.

Immerse yourself in the whimsical world of Slava’s SnowShow, a spellbinding spectacle where laughter and wonder collide. It’s a celebration that knows no bounds, uniting people of all walks of life in a shared moment of joyous folly. Witness a show that revives the art of clowning, drawing in those who’ve turned away from the circus tents of old. Slava’s SnowShow is a cavalcade of chaos and charm that invites you to leave the everyday behind and indulge in pure, childlike delight.
