The Empire Theatre Trust

Awards totalling £12,000 have been handed out to the Liverpool Empire’s aspiring stars of stage and screen. The second round of funding announced in honour of the Empire Theatre Trust’s late chairman Terry Smith represents a 20 per cent increase on last year’s figure. It brings the total bestowed by the Trust to £22,000 in two years and signifies significant support for former members of the Empire Youth Theatre now trying to make their way in the performing arts sector. It will help them as they pursue educational studies at colleges and universities. Trust Chairman, David Morgan said: ‘These young people deserve our help given the talent, drive and passion they showed in their applications. We are also acutely aware of the current challenges they face given the increased cost of living.’ Liverpool Empire Theatre is managed on behalf of the Empire Theatre (Merseyside) Trust Ltd and trustees: David Morgan (Chairman), Tony Ensor, Pam McGaffney, Lesley Marshall, John Thompson and Sean Marley. Secretary to the Trust is Carol Mason. Registered charity 509548 liverpoolempiretrust.co.uk
