I

The main force that pushed me going for the programme is the inner call deep inside which I know that social work is not popular among Asians. I wish that I could do something to give back to the society before I start stepping into my real working life as an adult. I believe that Global Volunteer can grant me a chance to see more, feel more and at the same time repaying my debt to the society that I have been getting from it for 24 years.

Shum Jia Jia from Faculty of Business & Accountancy, Global Volunteer in Nepal

I would not trade the 6 weeks I spent on this project with anything else in the world. I learned so many things and met so many amazing people, I can't imagine what my life would be right now if I had not registered in the first place.

Nadia Zul Hisham from Faculty of Engineering, Global Volunteer in Czech Republic

Global Volunteer to me is not just about contributing to global issues, but also a platform to discover yourself, your strengths and your passion in life. I have a stronger belief that I am able to contribute to a better world by bridging the gap between cultural differences and bringing them together. I also learnt that everyone is able to leave a positive impact in others’ lives and create a ripple effect.

Puen Yong Jia from Faculty of Languages & Linguistics, Global Volunteer in Mainland of China

Young people today should experience something different once in your lifetime. Global Volunteer is the best platform so far to enrich yourself and grow to be better. The life experience you get cannot be measured from the expenses, you got more from it unconsciously. Be more acceptable to other diversity and be like a global citizen. The world is your home. It's time to start to make a change, and you can make a difference.

Lam Jian Jia from Faculty of Engineering, Global Volunteer in Vietnam
