KRYSTOSFERSSON
Paris-based artist Sequoia Krystosfersson (born Stéphane Schuck) brings a deeply personal and visionary approach to contemporary art.
A medical doctor and public health researcher by training, Krystosfersson’s creative journey took a transformative turn after a life-altering leukemia diagnosis. Isolated during treatment, with only a guitar and a computer, he began exploring the expressive potential of digital tools and artificial intelligence. This period became the foundation for his unique artistic voice.
Krystosfersson’s work blends photography with AI-generated imagery, drawing on hyperrealism, surrealism, and cinematic storytelling. Series like Chickens of the Revolution and The Silent Witnesses explore themes of consumption, resilience, and human connection.
Everyday objects and forgotten spaces are reimagined through bold, symbolic compositions—simultaneously humorous, haunting, and poetic.
Influenced by Edward Hopper, Gregory Crewdson, and the Beat Generation, his imagery invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and discover beauty in the overlooked. Krystosfersson’s art is both deeply modern and timeless, challenging the boundaries between technology and tradition.
Also a musician, he leads the international project Salt Collective, collaborating with artists from the dB’s, Nada Surf, and more.

As an artist, my work explores the intersection of memory, time, and the human experience.
Through photography and AI-generated imagery, I seek to capture moments where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, where stories emerge from forgotten places or fleeting gestures. I try to create a dialogue between tradition and modernity, blending classical aesthetics with contemporary tools to create images that feel both timeless and innovative.
In “Chickens of the Revolution,” I use surreal compositions to reflect on humanity’s relationship with nature and consumption.
The juxtaposition of everyday objects, like chickens and guitars, with bold symbols of culture and identity creates a visual narrative that is both humorous and thoughtprovoking. This series challenges viewers to reconsider the familiar through a lens of curiosity and critique.
With “Gasoline Ghosts,” I delve into themes of solitude and abandonment. These images transform desolate spaces, such as forgotten gas stations, into stages for introspection and storytelling. The interplay between artificial light and natural darkness evokes a sense of mystery, inviting viewers to imagine the lives that once passed through these places.
In “The Silent Witnesses,” I turn my focus to human connection and resilience. Whether it’s two elderly women dancing in defiance of time or figures shrouded in mystery, this series celebrates the beauty of shared moments and the strength found in vulnerability.
Inspired by the lighting of Rembrandt, the quiet tension of Edward Hopper, and the narrative depth of Gregory Crewdson, my work aims to bridge the gap between classical art forms and contemporary storytelling.
By integrating AI technology into my creative process, I aim to push the boundaries of visual expression while staying rooted in themes that resonate universally.
Ultimately, my art is an invitation to pause, reflect, and find meaning in the overlooked or forgotten. It is a celebration of life’s complexities—its beauty, its melancholy, and its endless capacity for reinvention.
