about the ARTISTS Andrew Morrish has over 30 years of experience working as a freelance performer, teacher and researcher into improvisation. He has worked internationally in theatre, dance and opera. He was an original member of Al Wunder’s “Theatre of the Ordinary” in Melbourne and his own improvisation practice was fostered by 8 years in Theatre of the Ordinary and 12 years working in close collaboration with Peter Trotman. He has developed his personal approach to teaching improvisation in the last 14 years and teaches and performs extensively in Europe and Australia.

In 2014 he taught and performed in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, (Australia), Paris, Ladornac, Royaumont, (France), Zurich, (Switzerland), Berlin, Köln, Leipzig, (Germany), Huddersfield, London, Bristol, (U.K.), Tampere, (Finland), Oslo, (Norway), Poznan, (Poland), Viljandi, (Estonia), Stockholm, (Sweden) and Hvar, (Croatia). www.andrewmorrish.com Brenda Waite is performance maker, teacher and director with a background in theatre, dance and physical comedy. Brenda has an extensive performance history, she has toured throughout Australia and Europe for over 20 years collaborating with artists from a range of disciplines. Rebecca Mackenzie is a writer and performer. She has created site-specific works since 2008 and performed solo improvisation since 2009, most frequently in the show Late! Night Solos which she has produced in collaboration with Seke Chimutengwende since 2011. Rebecca was a co-curater of Stranger Than Fiction, a monthly platform for improvisation in performance. Petra Söör is a Swedish/Italian freelance dancer and maker enjoying mountain, forest, moss and improvisation. about the ARTISTS Charlie Ashwell is a dance artist living and working in London. She performs in other people's work including for Seke Chimutengwende and Dog Kennel Hill Project. She has just completed a Masters in Choreography and Performance, culminating in the project Becoming Witch. With his own company, he has made Mr Lawrence, The Time Travel Piece and 45 Dances for the People of Ham. His next work, King Arthur, will be performed at The Yard Theatre in 2015.

Hamish MacPherson is a choreographer interested in how we think together through our bodies. Jia-Yu Corti is a Taiwanese born freelance performance practitioner based in London. She has performed internationally and appeared in site specific, film and performance art projects. Since 2002 she has presented works in the UK and Taiwan. Her latest performance project, The Panel, funded by ACE and presented at Chelsea Theatre in July 2014 has instigated the creation of TheLivedBody, which continues the thread of dance, biography, philosophy and the self. www.jiayucorti.org Kate Brown is a dancer, choreographer and improviser currently based in London. Tiffany Gibson is a dance artist, with an MFA in Choreography. Her research interests involve the processes of collaborative duet making and performing. She is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton, where she teaches on the BA Dance Studies programme.

Filipe Sousa is a Portuguese composer, pianist and sound artist based in London. He works with artists and communities of ranging age, ability and background. He founded Quest Ensemble and has been commissioned to create sound installations and to write for music ensembles, film and dance.

On the surface Bandstand documents the architectural features of the Victorian bandstand, which sits in Southwark Park in Southeast London. Confronted with the emptiness of the space the viewer has text that suggests imagery to imagine movement that isn’t there. The loneliness of the bandstand in winter requires us to imagine its history as a place of celebration and performance to exist for us during this piece.

In 2013 he received an MA from London Contemporary Dance School. He is also currently an artist teacher at Goldsmiths University. He teaches art and design secondary in southeast London.

Eirini and Angelina Kartsaki have been collaborating for many years. They have spent a whole childhood together, during which they have been inventing games played by the two of them, which could be played anywhere, at any time, in any context. During the summer of 2014 they decided to share these games with other people. Sebastian Hinds is a Brooklyn-born filmmaker and photographer whose interest in capturing movement stems from a childhood obsession with Asian cinema and his own practice in martial arts and acrobatics. www.sebastianxander.com Irina Baldini is a Finnish-Italian dance and movement artist, living and working across Europe, currently based in Amsterdam. Irina works independently as well as collaboratively with artists of various mediums. She is founder member of 4bid Gallery, currently in charge of the Public Visual Art Space in the OT301 Cultural Centre in Amsterdam curating Highs & Lows evening of performances. www.irinaosterberg.com H.A. van Hees begun making music in the 1980's. As HALVIS, a symphonic acid noise duo with Frankie Vis, he performs regularly in the dutch underground scene and internationally. He often collaborates with modern dance artists, improvising together and various collectives, touring Germany, Poland and Lithuania. Van Hees runs a weekly live-noise radioshow called BSE on Radio Patapoe, a decade old squat-radiostation in Amsterdam, full of activist tradition and anarchism.

Rachel Gomme works in performance and installation. She is drawn to spaces and phenomena often perceived in terms of absence or lack (silence, stillness, waiting). She is fascinated by how time is stored, manifested and expressed in the material of body and world. Her durational performances and one-to-one interactions seek to open up a shared exploration of these spaces and follow the threads of our connection with our world. Clamour

Clamour is an interactive musical performance which playfully addresses the problem of creating meaningful realtime interactions for large numbers of participants. Using a browser-based app on their mobile phones the audience will be invited to become co-composers of the work. Subtle game mechanics will exploit tensions between the density of interactions and audience member’s drive for their interactions to be audible above the rest. This will be the fourth iteration of the piece.

Flight Cage

by Luke Fraser “I am for the birds, not the cages people put them in” - John Cage Written for Agony Art 2015, Flight Cage is the latest in a series of generative pieces involving the morphing and replication of either a single audio sample or synth engine. With all material being controlled from the same signal source, the effect is of a dense yet integrated sonic machine.

[Monument Videos] (2015)

Previous video work – Construction in Kneading and Composition: White Square, White Circle – will be screened using two projectors where the original and its colour inversion are used along with their superimposition. It is inspired by the Austrian experimental filmmaker Peter Kubelka’s Monument Film (2012) which carries out the same process with his flicker film Arnulf Rainer (1960).

Ethnic Diversity in Sites of Cultural Activity

by Ryo Ikeshiro This interactive installation locates faces, detects skin colour and alters the sound and image produced depending on the ethnic diversity of the audience. The use of face recognition technology is becoming increasingly common. Often, the algorithms are designed with white West European and North American ethnicities in mind. The piece reflects such tendencies as well as being an anthropomorphic manifestation of human predispositions.

Harnessing vocalization as an agent for choreography, Bridge follows a philosophical thread of the 'grain' of the voice, or the body within the voice as it sings and by using the dramaturgical platform of two solos enacting adjacent dialogues to form a duet, the performance explores the unique connection-point to the listener/viewer and the links necessary to build a bridge across communicative and performative barriers. The symbiotic relationship between the voice and the body and the individual manners in which this is embodied orchestrates a communication of sincerity, humour, and the efforts involved to achieve connection.

about the ARTISTS Originally trained as a zoologist, Mamoru Iriguchi is a performance maker and theatre designer. Evangelia Kolyra is a Greek born London-based choreographer and performer. Her work aims to offer audiences a kinaesthetically rich experience of the unexpected, humorous, and sometimes dark or sinister sides to the psychology of human experience, presented within highly detailed and physically demanding choreography. Swift dance: Bettina Neuhaus, Ursula Sabatin electronics: Richard Scott Swift is rooted in combining a strong willingness to experiment with accuracy and brings the two disciplines in their specific languages of image and sound closer together, intensifying their relationship. The ephemeral nature of the live performance, high speed of decision-making and action and unexpected twists and turns in the game of the performers stimulate in the viewer a participatory way of watching. The performance is part of the ongoing project TanzuferInternational.

Choreographer Marta Reig Torres works with the theme of “invisible power” - in this solo she attempts to make visible what does not want to be seen and tangible what seems to be unfathomable.

One is the second part of a trilogy The Body Minds that premiered in the festival Cadance 2013. One was created at Cloud/Danslab & Korzo Theatre in The Hague, Holland. Thanks to Conny Janssen, Maria Elshout, Judith v/d Made and Yanaika Holle.

As a catalogue of many choreographic items, Species of Spaces is not one single fixed piece but rather a collection of countless possible variations of different items assembled together. The audience are invited to witness one of those bespoke variations; a handful collection of items from that catalogue. The movement material and physical content of the piece is articulated around four themes: Container and contained | From abstract to narrative | Framing the void | Physical language.

The project has been supported by the Ballet National de Marseille (France), the Lisa Ullmann Travelling Scholarship Fund, Dance Research Studio (London) and Dance Limerick (Ireland).

about the ARTISTS Bettina Neuhaus is an independent dance artist based in Amsterdam and Berlin. For more than 25 years Instant Composition and collaboration with musicians, video artists and poets have been at the core of her choreographic and performative work, which has been presented extensively across Europe and South America. www.bettinaneuhaus.com Ursula Sabatin is an independent dance artist and artistic director of Tanzufer. She studied dance at Vienna University later for many years with artists in Europe and the US. Her work focuses on live performance in collaboration with artist of other disciplines (music, calligraphy, photography). Marta Reig Torres is a choreographer, dancer and teacher who has been living and working in The Netherlands since 1988. She has a Master’s Degree in Choreography and Techniques in Dance Interpretation from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Valencia, Spain. In 2012 she co-create Cloud & Danslab, a self-organized hub for independent artists in dance, performance and related arts.

Quartet Eleven Farrer House was created in 2013 when developing Disappearance at Sea, a sitespecific performance which took place in and around the iconic Happisburgh Lighthouse (England), piloting Alighting Shores, a series of unique site-specific lighthouse performances imagined by Gaelin Little. Projects carried out by Eleven Farrer House sit primarily within the field of dance and movement.

Initiation and authorship shift from piece to piece, facilitating an interchangeable structure for its constituent members and collaborators. Individual creativity is supported and nourished through collective exchanges; providing the ground for actualisation of bespoke works and investigation of practice.
