MARILI: How many destinations are there currently from Skopje International Airport and what can be expected during the upcoming period? Ersoy: Skopje International Airport is currently connecting our passengers to total of 42 year-round, scheduled destinations operated by 13 airlines. As of July 2019 Skopje Airport will be richer for two new direct flights on its route map - Larnaca and Turku by Wizz Air, which means completely new incoming markets, Cyprus and Finland, respectively. With the novelties we have introduced during 2018 at Skopje International Airport, and with the upcoming projects for 2019, we believe that many of our customers’ requirements, inquiries and suggestions are met, and would result in high quality travel experience, further increase in the number of passengers. MARILI: With the integration of North Macedonia in NATO, the number of passengers is likely to increase. Therefore, what are your expectations and projections for 2019? Ersoy: The developing Macedonian aviation market has huge potential for further growth and it is very interesting for airlines and tour operators, who have constant communication with our professional teams. When considering the idea to start our business and here, we were well aware that this country with its location and prospective aspirations for progress and further development along with the European countries. That was the main reason why we decided to invest and to share our know-how and our experience for the purpose to develop the aviation market of this country. Hence, the integration of the Republic of North Macedonia in NATO alliance would strengthen its position and for sure it would make the country even more attractive to airlines and tour-operators. Consequently, the progress of the country in general would result in even higher increases of the passengers flow at both airports, and would make Skopje and Ohrid airport regional fastest growing airport hubs. Кога ја разгледувавме идејата за почнување на бизнис тука, бевме свесни дека оваа земја со својата местоположба и идните аспирации за напредок има потенцијал за натамошен развој заедно со европските земји. Ова беше главната причина поради која одлучивме да инвестираме и да ги споделиме нашите знаења, вештини и искуство со цел да го развиеме воздухопловниот пазар. Оттука, интеграцијата на Република Северна Македонија во НАТО Алијансата ќе ја зајакне нејзината позиција и сигурно ќе ја направи уште поатрактивна за авиокомпаниите и тур-операторите. Прогресот на земјата би резултирал со уште повисок раст на протокот на патници на двата аеродрома и би ги направил скопскиот и охридскиот аеродром најбрзорастечки во регионот. МАРИЛИ: Ќе има ли конечно прекуокеански летови од Скопје до САД и Канада, нешто што се очекува веќе подолго време? Дали скопскиот аеродром е подготвен за такво нешто? Ерсој: Меѓународниот Аеродром Скопје е оперативно подготвен да обезбеди услуги на која било авиокомпанија што сака да почне со прекуокеански летови. Бидејќи ТАВ Македонија ги обезбедува сите потребни услуги, во однос на прифат и отпрема на воздухоплови, патници, багаж, карго, стока и пошта, единствено зависи од авиокомпаниите да одлучат за прекуокеански летови од нашата земја. Порастот, развојот, признанијата за квалитет на услугите и местоположбата на скопскиот аеродром совршено се вклопуваат за да стане регионален аеродромски центар. Со влезот на новите авиокомпании како Qatar Airways (2017), LOT Polish Airlines (2018) и Aegean Airlines (2018), Аеродромот во Скопје нуди повеќе и подобрени конекции за трансфер, бидејќи овие авиокомпании нудат многу дестинации од нивните аеродромски центри, LOT преку Варшава (САД), Аegean Airlines преку Атина (Европа, САД, грчките острови). Веруваме дека, со зголемениот број на патници и операции, ќе биде полесно за одредени авиокомпании да донесат одлука да почнат прекуокеански летови. Сепак, авиокомпаниите се потешки за одлуки во однос на прекуокеанските летови поради приносот, факторот на оптоварување и профитабилноста.

At Ohrid Airport, currently there are 11 airlines, operating 10 seasonal, charter, flights during the summer season, and 8 scheduled, or year-round flights. If we analyze the figures since 2009, prior to TAV Macedonia’s entrance on the Macedonian market, until present, we can see that Ohrid airport has increased the passenger’s number by 5 times. In 2009 there were total of 36.652 passengers, while 2018 has been finished with more than 180 thousand passengers (184.283). Certainly, for this to be achieved, we have constant support by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism, the Municipality of Ohrid, and the other relevant aviation authorities.
