Republican’s Blame Ebola on Obama Ploy Backfires Earl Ofari Hutchinson Author & Political Analyst

The instant the Ebola crisis hit American shores, the inevitable happened. The GOP blamed President Obama for it. First, it was the lame brained borderline racist charge that Obama either deliberately or through sheer incompetence did nothing to seal the borders to keep the virus at bay. The only slightly more intelligible attack was that Obama did nothing to command the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to take panic measures to insure no incidence of the disease would turn up in the country.

Then the GOP campaign strategists stepped in and had some of its top candidates suddenly parroting the kooky line that Obama was to blame for a supposedly porous and negligent CDC and border security lapse.

Obama’s appointment of an “Ebola Czar” provided even more grist for the GOP hit mill on Obama. It was variously blown off as too little, too late or ridiculed as a desperate appointment of a supposedly medically unqualified political crony.

This is political gamesmanship of the lowest order, playing on media and public fears over a legitimate and terrifying health crisis, to again belittle Obama. And with the stakes sky high in the 2014 midterm elections, the dirty political pool by the GOP was totally predictable.

But the twist in the Ebola saga is that the dirty hit job has backfired.

The attack opened the GOP wide open to media and public scrutiny of the galling fact that the GOP has systematically whittled away vital funding for dozens of health programs since 2010. The CDC, much the whipping agency for the supposed Obama health dereliction, was stripped of nearly $600 million; millions that could have gone to ramp up

monitoring, screening, and education programs, as well as research on vaccines to deal with infectious and communicable diseases. The names of the more than two dozen Republicans who poleaxed the CDC budget have been published. And to no surprise the bulk of them are either directly affiliated with or have been in part bankrolled by tea party factions. In September, there were initial reports that House Republicans would cut almost half of the nearly $100 million that the White House wanted earmarked to fight Ebola. It didn’t happen not because of any sudden epiphany by the GOP House members to provide all the funding that the White House asked for the program, but because word had quickly leaked out about the defunding possibility, and that would have been a PR nightmare that even the most rabid anti-Obama House Republicans knew was fraught with deep peril.

GOP leaders have hit back hard on the charge that they are somehow to blame for any laxity in the fight against Ebola by claiming that Obama and the Democrats have also made cuts in the NIH budget and that those cuts are the reason for any shortfall in the CDC’s funding for programs.

That’s true as far as it goes. But what the GOP conveniently omits is that the cuts to the NIH budget and indeed all other health and education and domestic spending program cuts were agreed to by Obama with the GOP jamming a virtual political gun to his head demanding he sign off on cuts as the draconian price for ending gridlock over the deficit war.

Now in the backdrop of a potential catastrophic health nightmare, the cuts have suddenly become as big a political campaign tug of war as the blame game about Ebola. But it’s one that the GOP can’t win. Because it, not Obama and the Democrats, have been firmly identified in the public eye as the ones that have consistently sledge hammered the Obama administration and Congress to cut, cut, and cut some more spending.

Failing to Hold Politicians Accountable

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” ~ Frederick Douglass We’ve read, cited, heard and chanted the above quote by Mr. Douglass countless times, but have we truly grasped its meaning as it relates to holding politicians accountable?

We have entered yet another voting season. Your homes are being bombarded with political leaflets, door knocks, robo-calls, direct mail, yard signs, ads and TV commercials.

Your computers and smartphone devices are being cluttered with auto-emailed messages, social media messages and even text alerts from candidates seeking your vote.

Year after year, we watch as candidates present their platforms full of promises. Long before President Obama ran for the highest office, we’ve been sold or hoodwinked on the concept of “Change We Can Believe” by those who have ran in the past on a local, state or congressional level.

We get our hopes up, only to see them dashed by politicians who get in office and forget about those who got them in the seat.

We MUST Understand that politicians who earn our vote must be held accountable.

It’s no secret that when most get into a political seat, they do a complete 180 degree turn and start doing the things they swore they

would never do. It’s no secret that most politicians start selling out their constituents and begin leaning more towards special interest groups who fatten their campaign funds and personal pockets.

For the voter, the battle isn’t won on Election Day, it actually starts the next day. It starts the moment that elected official is sworn in. What issues did they campaign on that you supported? What promises did they offer to your local organizations or businesses?

What did they promise to reform in your neighborhood, city or state?

Will you hold them accountable or give them a free pass?

An awakened voter cannot be lulled to sleep by the pomps and circumstance because soon the euphoria will wear off and we’re left facing the reality of unmet promises. However, this should not stop voters from keeping the pressure on through sustained civic engagement versus temporary feelgood acts. In order to get a demand met from politicians, they have to see and feel unity in the demand from the people.

We MUST Understand that merely complaining and whining is not going to create change or get demands met.

I’ve learned in life that you will never get what you don’t have the courage to demand and fight for. It’s not just in politics, but also in many facets of life. You can’t expect people to just give you something.

What are some things that voters can do?

Keep up with the patterns and works of your representatives and know exactly what original promises they have or have not kept.

Keep track of how they are voting on issues and if they are starting to sway from their original platform.

This is important when reelection comes around.

Know how to contact their offices whether it’s via their physical offices, email or social media.

Keep their phone numbers on file.

Let your voice be heard!

While modern technology is good, there is nothing like going in-person to community events and staying abreast of the issues impacting your neighborhood.

Attend community town halls, public forums, events where your local representatives are and voice your concerns. Let them know you and fellow constituents are monitoring the progress or the lack thereof.

There are many more things people can do.

We MUST Understand that the change we’re looking for is within the hands of the people who are willing to make a demand and follow up on that demand.

Otherwise it will be politics as usual.

HOUSTON from pg. 1 HOUSTON - Dick Gregory has never been one to bite his tongue when it comes to speaking truth. The legendary humorist, civil rights icon, social activist, holistic health proponent, bestselling author and cultural commentator was welcomed with open arms to Houston on Oct. 18 and didn’t disappoint.

“If this country is to be saved, it will be saved by Blackfolks,” he told the packed audience at the Shrine of the BlackMadonna.

“Stop judging by your ignorance and start judging by truth!”

“This country would be nothing without us who built it. But they keep telling you about us just being some thug or athlete.

See, they know who you really are and happy you don’t know who you are. You love those who hate us.”

“White ain’t a color, it’s an attitude,” he said. “In America, they use us and then blame us for their filth.”

He addressed the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, racism, President Obama, issues facing the Blackcommunity, foreign affairs, Donald Sterling, Michael Vick, family life, media and the greatness of Blackpeople dating back to the building of pyramids.

“You can’t get no lower than stealing me from the Mother Land,” he said regarding slavery. “The White man thought he just stole a worker, when he stole a scientist! We built pyramids and this country.”

“Cops killing us every other day!

America is the most degenerate, filthy nation, but you don’t smell because you’re co-existing with it.”

As expected, Gregory delivered comedy to go along with the hard truths.

“Why would you Blackfolks be ashamed to eat watermelon? White folks didn’t invent watermelon, except the ones that are seedless,” he said as the crowd laughed. “If I was President, I would not be like Obama.

I would dig up that rose garden and plant watermelon!”

“And why are we still thinking God is in the business of making good hair and bad hair? What kind of fool are you?”

Gregory would not let up on letting the audience know how great they are despite the stigmas being placed on BlackAmerica.

He delved into how everyone went through a hostile environment as a sperm, which is a sign that one can conquer anything.

“Children don’t come from you, they come through you,” he said. “The good thing about growing up in a fatherless home, I didn’t have two people messing my mind up.”

He also applauded his wife who has been by his side for over 50 years. “My wife didn’t fall in love with me after I became famous.

My wife was in love with me when I was making five dollars a night.”

“He was comically amazing. It was very informative,” said Texas Southern University student Andreau Berry, who was hearing him speak for the first time.

A Historical Look Gregory’s Life According to his official website, Dick Gregory entered the national comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago’s Playboy Club (as a direct request from publisher Hugh Hefner) booked him as a replacement for White comedian, “Professor” Irwin Corey. Until then Gregory had worked mostly at small clubs with predominantly Blackaudiences (he met his wife, Lillian Smith, at one such club). Such clubs paid comedians an average of five dollars per night; thus Gregory also held a day job as a postal employee. His tenure as a replacement for Corey was so successful — at one performance he won over an audience that included southern White convention goers — that the Playboy Club offered him a contract extension from several weeks to three years. By 1962 Gregory had become a nationally known headline performer, selling out nightclubs, making numerous national television appearances, and recording popular comedy albums.

It’s important to note that no biography of Gregory would be complete without mentioning that he and his beloved wife, Lil, had ten kids who have become highly respected members of the national community in a variety of fields. They are: Michele, Lynne, Pamela, Paula, Stephanie (aka Xenobia), Gregory, Christian, Miss, Ayanna and Yohance. The Gregory’s had one child who died at birth but they have shared 49 years of historic moments, selfless dedication and tremendous personal love.

Gregory began performing comedy in the mid-1950s while serving in the army.

Drafted in 1954 while attending Southern Illinois University at Carbondale on a track scholarship, Gregory briefly returned to the university after his discharge in 1956, but left without a degree because

he felt that the university “didn’t want me to study, they wanted me to run.” In the hopes of performing comedy professionally, he moved to Chicago, where he became part of a new generation of Blackcomedians that included Nipsey Russell, Bill Cosby, and Godfrey Cambridge. These comedians broke with the minstrel tradition, which presented stereotypical Blackcharacters.

Gregory, whose style was detached, ironic, and satirical, came to be called the “BlackMort Sahl” after the popular White social satirist. Friends of Gregory have always referred to Mort Sahl as the “White Dick Gregory.” Gregory drew on current events, especially the racial issues, for much of his material: “Segregation is not all bad.

Have you ever heard of a collision where the people in the back of the bus got hurt?”

From an early age, Gregory demonstrated a strong sense of social justice. While a student at Sumner High School in St. Louis he led a March protesting segregated schools. Later, inspired by the work of leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and organizations such as the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Gregory took part in the Civil Rights Movement and used his celebrity status to draw attention to such issues as segregation and disfranchisement. When local Mississippi governments stopped distributing Federal food surpluses to poor blacks in areas where SNCC was encouraging voter registration, Gregory chartered a plane to bring in several tons of food.

He participated in SNCC’s voter registration drives and sit-ins to protest segregation, most notably at a restaurant franchise in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Only later did Gregory disclose that he held stock in the chain.

Gregory’s autobiography, Nigger, was published in 1963 prior to The assassination of President Kennedy, and became the number one best-selling book in America.

Over the decades it has sold in excess of seven million copies. His choice for the title was explained in the forward, where Dick Gregory wrote a note to his mother.

“Whenever you hear the word ‘Nigger’,” he said, “you’ll know their advertising my book.”

Through the 1960s, Gregory spent more time on social issues and less time on

performing. He participated in marches and parades to support a range of causes, including opposition to the Vietnam War, fasted and prayed in an effort to urge the Ayatollah Khomeini to release American embassy staff who had been taken hostage. The Iranian refusal to release the hostages did not decrease the depth of Gregory’s commitment; he weighed only 97 lbs when he left Iran.

In 2001, Gregory announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer. He refused traditional medical treatment – chemotherapy –and with the assistance of some of the finest minds in alternative medicine, put together a regimen of a variety of diet, vitamins, exercise, and modern devices not even known to the public, which ultimately resulted in his reversing the trend of the Cancer to the point where today he is 100% Cancer free.

“82 percent prostate cancer deaths are Blackmen, and that doesn’t bother you?” he asked the audience at the Shrine of the BlackMadonna event.

Gregory’s going public with his diagnosis has helped millions of his fans around the world to understand what Cancer specialists have been trying to explain for decades, which is that “Cancer is curable.”

HOUSTON - Recently Pastor Joseph Baker, of Guiding Light Inspirational M.B.C, held its 1st Prayer Breakfast at the AHCBED. Esteemed spiritual and political leaders congregated to attend. Minister Cynthia Jones read a scripture and a word of prayer was offered afterwards.

Sis. Vera Baker extended a word of welcome to all that came.

The atmosphere was filled with friendly faces, uplifting spirits and voices as the gallery awaited the preparation of Tippy’s Soul Food who was the caterer of the event.

Pastor Baker served as the Master of Ceremony, and thanked all that were in attendance. Following, the Honorable State Representative Sylvester Turner gave remarks.

He recognized several nominees who are up for election and encouraged everyone to vote and support the upcoming election. Turner reverenced Pastor Baker for his many years of TX-8

support and said, “he has been an asset to the City of Houston all the way around.” He continued, “I will say I am where I am, because of people like Pastor Baker.”

Pastor Baker returned to the podium to introduce the Speaker, Rev. F.N. Williams, II. Williams began by giving honor to everyone that was present at the event. As he initiated his address, he stated, “Everybody can know your when, but do they know you now?” He made reference to the fact that, “it is because many of us had a past, we now have a testimony.”

Consistent with the Prayer Breakfast theme, Williams saw fit to use the term “Prayer” as a subject. I Thessalonians 5:17 - “Pray without ceasing” was his text.

During the introduction of his message he informed that, “God has given us some tools as spiritual warfare and they aren’t carnal.” He described those tools as being the area of faith and

prayer. Thus he stressed that prayer is extremely significant and a weapon that God has given his children. As he continued to talk about the power of prayer; he went on to head toward a Hill called Calvary. It was on that hill, that Williams preached as if he was in an auditorium full of thousands of people that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was crucified and died.

However, holding true to the profession of his faith, Williams could not stop until he resurrected that same Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World out of the grave. Hands were waving, clapping, voices were shouting and bodies were rocking from side to side as Rev. F. N. Williams, II went to church at a Saturday Morning Prayer Breakfast, just like it was a typical Sunday Morning Worship Service.

Needless to state, the word of God truly went forth and attendees were filled again as they ate breakfast.

Tiffany Parker, Owner of Tippy’s Soul Food

HOUSTON - Good smelling, finger biting and lip smacking are all adjectives that serve to describe the cozy little restaurant that rests on North Shepherd Drive; which declares that the, “attitude is in the Food.” Operated and owned

by Tiffany and Cedric Parker, Tippy’s Soul Food and Catering is in a new location but is not new to the community.

Tippy’s Soul Food started out in the back of a small convenient store.

Eventually, the clientele began to increase as well as revenue and they were able to expand the restaurant to a much larger space. At that time, Tippy’s was relocated to its own storefront which rested on the corner of Yale and Crosstimbers on side of the Shell Gas station. Tippy’s remained at that location for seven years and seen much success and was able to open up two additional restaurants. These locations were on Antoine Drive

and Champions Drive. It was from these efforts that Tippy’s was able to consolidate all three locations into one convenient one.

During an interview, in reference to owning and operating Tippy’s, Mrs. Tiffany stated that she “has always loved cooking, especially making things from scratch”.

In fact, Tippy’s delectable tastes are all made from scratch. She proudly stated, “We cut our own meats and you ain’t gon see no cans around here – our food is made fresh everyday!”

Nevertheless she revealed that she has always been enchanted about the business side of things.

Growing up, Tiffany received the nickname “Tippy” from the way she walked on her “tippy toes”. However, she would later grow out of that nickname into literally tipping her way into various other business ventures. As fate would have it love found its way into a like-minded entrepreneur by the name

Cedric and together they both would go on to become great young Black successful business partners.

With roots from the little country town in East Texas known as, Coldspring; Tiffany grew up on the North side of Houston attending the public school system.

However, she graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Raised with parents who were business owners as well as educators, Tiffany was motivated and determined to become successful. After graduating high school she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Corrections from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Since that time she has made her mark in AfricanAmerican history. Tiffany has worked in the entertainment industry as well.

She has been a Personal Manager and assisted many talented greats such as: Brian McKnight, Rap-A-Lot, R. Kelly and worked with a slew of professional athletes.

It was actually from her experience in the entertainment industry that birthed the idea of opening up a soul food restaurant. While traveling throughout various coasts she noticed that, “there were never really any good soul food restaurants.” Thus the vision and birth of Tippy’s Soul Food was inspired.

Her husband, Cedric Parker from Studewood, is also equipped with his own special areas of expertise.

Mr. Parker attended Mary Holmes College in West Point, Mississippi. Together they have acquired other businesses such as: real estate (buy, sell and lease properties within the community), own a barbershop and are currently looking to lease out a convenient store they own.

and have made great strides collectively within that time.

They have two daughters, one son, one granddaughter and ten god-children.

Although Tippy’s already has an edge on other restaurants in and out of its category, it is open seven days a week and has a dish to suit every taste bud.

Additionally, Tippy’s offers a wide variety of soul food tastings including: oxtails, smothered pork chops, roasted or smothered chicken, peppered steak, pig feet, pork bones, roasted or smothered turkey with cornbread dressing, “Tippy’s fried chicken wings” and nawlins style seafood gumbo.

Tippy’s also has hamburger, fish, grilled cheese and other varieties of sandwiches.

They have an array of desserts to chose from like: homemade banana pudding, peach cobbler and assorted

cakes.

As far as sides Tippy’s make sure to add a little diversity in their sides and switches them up daily.

They range from: rice and gravy, mustard greens, yams, okra and tomatoes, nawlins style red beans, to mashed potatoes, seasoned fries, potato salad, pinto beans, mixed veggies, dirty rice, just to list a few. But, no meal at Tippy’s is complete without a gulp of some of their own famous “Studewood or Acres Home Remix” drinks.

Mr. and Mrs. Parker have high hopes and great expectations for their latest location. Mrs. Tiffany stated, “I want ‘Tippy’s’ to be a place where people can come to get inspired and learn to go into business for themselves.” “We really want to be a beacon of light within our community” she added.

Yolanda was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of cancer that usually victimizes AfricanAmerican, Hispanic and younger women. Her particular strain of Triple Negative DCIS Cancer occurs in less then 2% of the population of women who have Triple Negative DCIS Breast Cancer. Within a year (June 17, 2011) of her diagnosis, Yolanda succumbed to the disease.

Michael R. Williams started the Yolanda E. Williams Foundation (September 2011) as part of a promise he made to his wife and as a way to cope with his wife’s passing and to help fund research for Triple Negative DCIS Breast Cancer.

HOUSTON - By all accounts, Yolanda E. Moore-Williams, RN, BA, MBA & MHA was living a charmed life. She had a loving husband (of 18 years), two beautiful teenage daughters, was well-educated in nursing, hospital administration and business, and highly successful in her career as COO of a hospital in the medical center. However, everything changed in June 2010 the moment she felt a lump in her breast.

Given Yolanda’s medical training, she knew that something was wrong.

Yolanda and her husband, Michael, immediately went to the doctor to have it checked out. Her primary care doctor misdiagnosed her initially but Yolanda knew her body and knew something was wrong so she kept fighting & pushing her primary doctor to run more tests. Finally after a couple of weeks of various tests she finally received the results of her MRI Mammography results. Yolanda was told that the lump was Cancerous.

Houstonians Walk the Talk for Young Cancer Fighter Laps of Love event benefiting care of leukemia patient and family

HOUSTON - Armani, a delightful 11-yearold girl, experienced a life-changing leukemia diagnosis nearly a year ago. Since, she’s undergone numerous hospital visits that have challenged her body, but not her spirit.

Inspired by her strength, and that of her family, Bishop James Dixon created Laps of Love in support of the church’s young member. Laps of Love included a 50-lap walk/run around the domed sanctuary as well as visits from motorcycle clubs and local line dancers who performed 50 different routines as their special display of support — all aimed at raising

money for the family’s cost-of-care during Armani’s medical journey. An added bonus: The charity event took place on the birthday of Armani’s great-grandmother.

Thanks to the hundreds of supporters, including Council Member Jerry Davis, the inaugural efforts earned more than $10,000 that will fund Armani’s medical needs in her journey to return to a healthy life.

The Sunshine Vitamin Sheds Light on Breast Cancer Recovery

One would think that any aspect of our lives that includes sunshine would give us life, light and power. Well, you are absolutely right! As a matter of fact, Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin, does exactly that. Apart of our necessary nutrient needs, vitamin D is essential not only in bone development, as most of us are familiar with, but also in strengthening our immune system and fighting off or preventing various diseases.

The Center for Disease Control notes that White women lead in breast cancer incidences above Black women, yet Black women are more likely to die from it. So, how can we prepare ourselves as women of color to overcome breast cancer and hopefully never get it in the first place? We make our own vitamin D simply by being out in the sun for certain lengths of time. Being a melanin dominated TX-10

people (Black people), it is required that we stay in the Sun for an extended period of time compared to lighter skin people, bearing witness that we are indeed a people of the Sun! Made from cholesterol, vitamin D is further metabolized in our liver and finally the kidneys so that it may be used by the body.

Our bodies use it to regulate our calcium levels, thus maintain our bone health. It also encourages our immune cells to differentiate which helps us to fight off infection and diseases. It is this characteristic that makes it a great part of treatment for psoriasis. Other roles vitamin D play in the body include: assisting in lowering blood pressure, helping to relieve depression, overcoming fatigue, reducing inflammation, relieving multiple sclerosis and reducing degrees of obesity.

The Vitamin D Council states that many

studies show that there is a link between vitamin D and breast cancer. One such study conducted at the University of California, San Diego made an observation, which can be found in the Journal of Anticancer Research, that high levels of Vitamin D more than double the chances of breast cancer survival in an individual whereas low levels increase the risk of death. It was highlighted that low levels of vitamin D increase the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer. And studies have shown that a healthy person consuming the adequate amount of vitamin D per day reduces the risk of even developing breast cancer by 50%.

It is believed that vitamin D is able to increase survival rates by activating certain receptors in the body that control the reproduction and proliferation of tumor cells; it inhibits

aggressive cell division. According to Dr. Garland, a researcher at UC San Diego, “As long as vitamin D receptors are present tumor growth is prevented and kept from expanding its blood supply. Vitamin D receptors are not lost until a tumor is very advanced. This is the reason for better survival in patients whose vitamin D blood levels are high.”

Because sunlight is a major source of acquiring our daily dose of vitamin D, bathing in it for 20-30 minutes a day will give you an added benefit. And though there are few foods that have great sources of vitamin D, one can consume salmon as an excellent source and GMO (genetically modified organisms) free eggs, cow’s milk and sardines will also provide good sources.

“Go College!” National Education Initiative to Houston

Ground-breaking program aims to reach 2,000 local teens and shrink the higher education gap for first generation students, minorities and underserved youth

HOUSTON – As high school students continue their academic year and consider college, First Generation Films and Wells Fargo are bringing the “Go College!” national education initiative to Houston with screenings of a one-hour version of the award-winning documentary, First Generation, at Westchester Academy for International Studies, Evan E. Worthing High School, Sharpstown International School, Sharpstown High School, Sam Houston Math, Science and Technology Center, and Jefferson Davis High School. Go College! Houston will reach and inspire more than 2,000 students and host a free community screening at the AMC Studio 30 on November 3.

Filmed over the course of three years, the First Generation documentary is narrated by two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Blair Underwood and explores the challenges of college access faced by first generation and low income students due to their families’ unfamiliarity with college applications, scholarships and the federal aid process. The documentary profiles the journey of four students attempting to break the cycle of poverty

and bring hope to their communities as they pursue their college dreams.

“Our goal in making the film was to help high school students learn from their peers about the college admissions process,” said co-director Jaye Fenderson, a former senior admissions officer at Columbia University and the author of Seventeen's Guide To Getting Into College. “But it evolved to become so much more than that – an emotional experience and message that resonated with underserved communities.”

Go College! Houston is the ninth major stop on a 10-city tour that will bring together for the community screening events First Generation filmmakers Jaye and Adam Fenderson, and cast member, Dontay Gray, who will join local educators, student lending specialists, and civic and community leaders for an interactive panel discussion on how students can make attending college a reality.

Go College! visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Oakland and Washington D.C. in the spring, reaching an audience of 10,000 and more than 1,000,000 people across social media channels who used the #GoCollege and #WFCollegeTour hashtags.

This fall, the initiative is visiting Atlanta, Miami, Dallas and Twin Cities, in addition to Houston.

“By bringing the film directly to students and speaking with their parents, we want to remove any perceived and actual barriers to college access,” said co-director Adam Fenderson. In 2011, First Generation won Best Documentary at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and was selected as a Special Jury Award winner at the Napa Valley Film Festival in 2012.
