On October 2, 1927 in Sunnyside, Texas a son was born to Adam Stewart and Ida Belle Knowles-Stewart whom they named Roy Elliott Stewart. He and his brother and two sisters were affectionately raised by their grandparents, Silas and Addie Knowles. At an early age, he was baptized of the Mount Zion CME Church. He attended Bob Burton High School and graduated in 1947. Shortly after graduating he joined the Armed Forces and served his country where he was stationed in Korea. Upon returning from his tour of duty, he continued his education at the Southern Business College and Prairie View College.

He married Miss Nettie Mae Lewis and to this union four children were born: Donald, Diane, Sylvia and Roy Jr. This did not prevent him from rearing his four children and continuing his Christian journey.

Sista Girl Curls

By the grace and love of God, Pastor Stewart was given a helpmate to walk with him. Rev. Stewart was joined in holy matrimony on August 4, 1972 to Sister Verna Stewart of Sunnyside, Texas. They have been married for 47 years. Reverend Stewart accepted the call to pastor Green Meadow Missionary Baptist Church on February 3, 1973. He
