GRADE

What a year it’s been. We started off strong—welcoming new students, making new friends, and watching new families quickly become part of our community. It was so great seeing how excited everyone was to get to know each other.

There were so many fun (and funny) moments— me constantly asking for cringe pictures, homeroom teachers handing things over to you to lead the notices, and of course, those random deep conversations with me that just happened to pop up right before assessments. Nice try!

We had our ups and downs—some friendships hit rough patches, but with a bit of support (and Ms. Nora’s magic), things always found a way back on track. We said goodbye to a few students, and that was tough, but they’ll always be part of our story. I declared war on chewing gum, and in return, you declared war on wearing lanyards.

And how could I forget... you made me touch a sheep’s heart. I still haven’t recovered...

Still, the memories we made this year are ones I’ll never forget. You’ve all left your mark, and I’m so proud of the way you’ve grown. Keep shining bright, and I look forward to seeing you in the hallways next year. With lots of love

GRADE 8 STEP UP

Grade 8 students celebrated a milestone moment as they officially stepped up to high school. The event recognized their growth, achievements, and readiness for the next exciting chapter. With words of encouragement from teachers and joyful reflections, it was a proud and inspiring day for students and families alike.

SUBJECTS

ENGLISH

At UAS, Middle School English is where stories, characters, and ideas come alive. Whether students are reading novels, writing short stories, or presenting speeches, they’re learning how to explore the world through language. English class becomes a place where imagination meets structure—and where every student learns to find their voice.

Through engaging discussions, grammar games, and creative assignments, students not only improve their writing and reading skills, but also grow in confidence. Middle school English lays the groundwork for effective communication and helps students become thoughtful, articulate learners who are ready for anything.

MATH

Math in middle school at UAS is all about building a strong foundation while making it fun. Through group work, problem-solving activities, and hands-on projects, students begin to see math as a valuable life tool. Whether they’re working with fractions, algebra, or statistics, they learn that math is not just about numbers—it’s about logic, thinking, and patterns.

Teachers create an environment where questions are encouraged, and mistakes are part of the journey. Every student is supported at their level, making sure they’re confident moving forward. By the time they reach high school, they don’t just know math—they understand how to use it.

SCIENCE

Middle school science at UAS is where curiosity gets its spark. Students explore biology, earth science, chemistry, and physics in hands-on, interactive ways. Whether it’s growing plants, simulating volcanoes, or conducting experiments, learning is always active and engaging. Through inquiry-based learning and discovery, students begin to understand how the world works—and why it matters. They build observation and reasoning skills that prepare them for more advanced science and give them the confidence to ask questions and seek answers.

HUMANITIES

Middle school humanities at UAS gives students a global perspective from a young age. Through engaging history units, geography lessons, and current events, students learn how human societies evolve and how cultures shape the world we live in. They connect past to present and build a foundation for understanding global citizenship. Discussions, projects, and simulations bring the content to life. Students explore topics like ancient civilizations, world religions, and modern-day challenges in a way that sparks curiosity and empathy. It’s about learning the "why" behind the facts—and how we can all make a difference.

CREATIVES

Middle school creatives at UAS give students the chance to explore and express who they are. In art, music, and drama, they learn the basics of technique while experimenting with their own styles. Whether painting, playing instruments, or performing skits, creativity is always encouraged. These subjects help students grow in confidence, collaboration, and selfexpression. They learn to take risks, share ideas, and celebrate different perspectives—all while having fun and discovering new passions. Through these experiences, students often find a sense of community and belonging, as they connect with others who share similar interests and aspirations. Teachers at UAS support and guide students in their artistic journeys, offering constructive feedback and inspiring them to push the boundaries of their imaginations. As a result, students not only develop their artistic skills but also gain valuable life skills, such as resilience and perseverance. The creative programs at UAS are designed to nurture young talents and prepare them for future challenges, encouraging them to carry their creative spirit into all aspects of their lives.

PE in middle school is more than just running laps—it’s about learning to move with purpose. Students at UAS develop fitness, coordination, and sports skills while also learning teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. Each class brings something new, from basketball and volleyball to fitness games and circuits.

PE teaches students how to stay healthy, set personal goals, and support their peers. With positive encouragement and lots of energy, middle schoolers build lifelong habits that support their physical and mental well-being.

LANGUAGE

Middle school language classes at UAS introduce students to the excitement of learning a new language and culture. Whether it’s French or Spanish, students start with the basics—greetings, vocabulary, and simple conversations—but quickly build the confidence to speak and understand in real-world situations. The focus is on interaction, fun activities, and meaningful use of language.

Through games, role plays, and cultural projects, students not only learn grammar and structure— they learn about the people, traditions, and global importance of the language. It’s about sparking curiosity and laying the foundation for multilingual communication in today’s world.

ISLAMIC

Middle school Islamic students actively engage in discussing contemporary issues using problemsolving and collaboration. They refer to the Holy Qur’an and Noble Sunnah to guide their understanding and responses. Through class presentations, they confidently share their insights and solutions, developing both their Islamic knowledge and communication skills.

ARABIC-A

ARABIC-B

Arabic in middle school helps students connect with language and culture in meaningful ways. Teachers focus on making the language come alive, helping students engage with Arabic in fun, interactive lessons.

GRADE

"This year has been a journey of growth, leadership, and connection—a reminder that when we support one another, we all rise together."

“Grade 9 has been a year of transformation, resilience, and positivity. As they transitioned from middle school to high school, I have watched them embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and determination. They have not only excelled academically but have also built strong relationships, supported one another, and created a welcoming and inclusive community. Every morning, their smiles and energy set a positive tone for the day, and our morning check-ins have strengthened our bond as a grade. Through engaging discussions, thoughtful reflections, and acts of kindness, they have grown into confident, compassionate young leaders.

Academically, they have demonstrated curiosity, dedication, and a passion for learning across all subjects. Whether through critical thinking, creativity, or collaboration, they have challenged themselves to grow and succeed. Their hard work and perseverance have been evident in every class, and their achievements reflect their commitment to excellence.

Meet the Kindness Crew! As the saying goes, "In a world where you can be anything, be kind— because kindness builds communities." Our Kindness Crew has truly embodied this message, making a significant impact on our school culture. They took the initiative to welcome new students and teachers with kindness cards, ensuring that everyone feels like a part of the UAS family.

They have also conducted teacher interviews and shared their insights in the UAS Newsletter, writing about what learning in high school looks like.

Additionally, many of our students have stepped up to lead assemblies, confidently engaging their peers and setting an example for others.

This has been an unforgettable year, and I couldn’t be prouder of how much they have grown —not just as students, but as leaders, thinkers, and role models. Their journey is just beginning, and I have no doubt they will continue to inspire, achieve, and lead with kindness in the years to come.”

GRADE

“Being your Grade 11 Lead this year has been such a joy and an absolute privilege. Getting to know all 126 of you—your personalities, your passions, your quirks, and your stories—has truly been one of the highlights of my year. It’s been amazing to walk this journey alongside you and watch you grow, not only as students but as young adults finding your way in the world.

I’m especially proud of our 27 new students who joined the UAS family this year. Transitioning to a new school is never easy, but you’ve done it with courage, grace, and resilience. It’s been heartwarming to see you find your people, your confidence, and your rhythm here. You’ve added so much to our community, and we are all the better for it.

What makes this role so special for me is not just watching your academic progress or cheering you on during big moments—it's the everyday interactions. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your smiles, your high fives, and your fist bumps. On days when I’m feeling overwhelmed or a little low, those small moments of connection lift my spirits more than you know. Your energy, kindness, and presence make a real difference—not just to me, but to each other.

I know that many of you are carrying more than you show—balancing school, friendships, family life, and your own inner challenges. Some of you are dealing with academic pressures, others with personal struggles, and some with both. Despite that, you show up. You push forward. And that strength, that quiet determination, is something I admire deeply.

Teenagehood isn’t easy—it’s messy, confusing, emotional, and full of change. But it’s also a time of discovery, of joy, and of growth. My advice to you is this: love the life you have, even when it’s hard. Embrace the difficult moments—they help shape you into someone strong, compassionate, and wise. They make the good times shine even brighter. Look for the moments that take your breath away, that spark curiosity, and that help you see the world in new and beautiful ways.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey this year. It’s been an honour, and I’m so excited to see what you’ll go on to achieve. Keep being you, and never forget how much you matter.”

SUBJECTS

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a challenging academic program designed to develop students into well-rounded, globally-minded thinkers. It focuses on more than just exams—it encourages critical thinking, research, and reflection across six subject areas. IB students also complete three core components: the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), which help build strong academic and personal skills. It’s a program that prepares students not just for university, but for life.

“The IB Diploma is a rigorous and demanding program which focuses on educating the whole student. As students navigate their 6 chosen subjects they are also engaged in intense critical thinking within Theory of Knowledge, learning life-long research skills in the Extended Essay, and maintaining a work life balance through their various CAS experiences. While each of these skills can be learned independent of each other, by blending them into the program, the IB has ensured students are fully prepared for life after high school. At UAS we enjoy seeing our students succeed in school and beyond.”

Rachel Bartlett IB Coordinator

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program created by the College Board that offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses and exams. These courses are designed to challenge students academically and allow them to explore subjects in greater depth, such as AP Biology, AP Calculus, or AP English Literature. By completing AP courses and scoring well on the final exams, students can potentially earn college credit or advanced placement at many universities, both in the United States and internationally.

"This year, students in the Advanced Placement program at Universal American School participated in fast-paced learning environments. Their AP classes have prepared them to learn content, sharpen skills, and take exams in the style of university classes.

This experience has helped AP students broaden their knowledge, prepare for university, and strengthen their resumes for college applications. UAS is very proud of our AP students' hard work this year, and we are looking forward to adding even more AP course options next year."

ENGLISH

In High School English, students at UAS take their literacy and writing to the next level. From literary analysis and poetry to personal essays and research papers, the curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, creativity, and clarity. Students don’t just read—they interpret, question, and challenge ideas. English becomes more than a subject—it’s a skill for life. With passionate teachers guiding the way, students learn how to write powerful arguments, analyze complex texts, and express themselves with purpose. These are skills they carry into college, careers, and beyond.

MATH

High school math at UAS is where everything comes together. From Algebra to Calculus, students dive deeper into mathematical reasoning, learning how to analyze, model, and solve real-world problems. Lessons go beyond formulas— they focus on why math matters and how it appears in daily life.

With educators like Miss Jamal leading the way, students learn how to manage budgets, understand data, and make informed decisions. Whether they’re planning future careers in engineering, business, or design, they’re equipped with the math skills to succeed.

SCIENCE

In high school, science becomes more specialized—and more exciting. Students at UAS can explore Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science, all taught with a focus on real-world application. Labs, fieldwork, and research projects help students go beyond the textbook and into the world of scientific exploration.

Whether they’re studying genetics, balancing equations, or analyzing energy use, students learn to think like scientists. They’re taught to form hypotheses, collect data, and evaluate outcomes—skills that are essential for university and for tackling global challenges.

In Earth Science, Miss Ebrahim taught us that understanding the planet isn't just about facts and figures—it’s about responsibility. Through labs, discussions, and projects, she showed us how climate change, pollution, and resource use directly affect our world and future. Her classes made environmental science feel real, not distant, and pushed us to think about our role in protecting the Earth.

Whether we were studying renewable energy or the water cycle, Miss Ebrahim always connected the lessons back to everyday life. She encouraged us to be more mindful—recycle more, waste less, and speak up about sustainability. Thanks to her, we didn’t just learn about the environment—we learned how to care for it.

HUMANITIES

In high school, UAS Humanities dives deep into Human Geography, economics, history, and sociology. Students explore how people, power, and ideas shape societies, from ancient times to today. Through debates, essays, and independent research, they develop strong analytical and communication skills.

Whether studying global conflicts or economic trends, students learn to think critically about the world and their place in it. Humanities at UAS empowers students to become informed, compassionate leaders who can engage with the world thoughtfully and with purpose.

CREATIVES

High school creatives at UAS are where expression meets excellence. Whether students are writing scripts, composing songs, building sets, or designing digital art, they are constantly challenged to push their creative boundaries. Projects are student-led, innovative, and often shared in school-wide showcases. These classes not only develop artistic talent, but also foster critical thinking, communication, and problemsolving. In a world that values creativity more than ever, UAS students are given the tools—and the space—to stand out.

SPORTS SCIENCE (PE)

High school PE at UAS challenges students to go further. With advanced sports training, personal fitness goals, and wellness education, students learn how to take control of their physical health. From strength training to strategy-based games, every activity builds endurance, skill, and discipline.

It’s also about community and team spirit. Through tournaments, house games, and interschool competitions, students grow in confidence and leadership. PE becomes a space where students release stress, bond with classmates, and represent their school with pride.

LANGUAGE

High school language courses at UAS go beyond the basics and into full cultural immersion. Students deepen their vocabulary, refine their speaking and writing skills, and explore literature, film, and current events in their chosen language. The classes are interactive and discussion-based, encouraging students to think in the language, not just translate.

From writing essays in French to debating in Spanish, students are constantly challenged to grow. By the end of high school, they’re not just language learners—they’re global communicators prepared to engage with different cultures confidently and respectfully in both academic and real-world settings.

ARABIC

ﻲﺑﺮﻋ

High school Arabic at UAS builds fluency and depth. The goal is not only academic success, but also cultural appreciation and confidence in using the language.

ISLAMIC

In high school, Islamic Studies becomes deeper and more discussion-based.

It’s a space where students can explore their faith intellectually and spiritually.

PROM COMMITTEE

“Leading the Prom Committee with Lujain, Ammar, and Rimaz was unforgettable. It was inspiring to brainstorm creative fundraising events, select the perfect venue, and celebrate everyone's hard work throughout high school. Prom is the perfect way to close this chapter together, making the entire experience truly rewarding.”

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE (Us)

"Leading the yearbook club with Lujain, was the perfect way to combine my intrest in design with capturing moments that actually matter. It’s been all about turning everything that happens in school into memories, and making sure everyone looks good in the process. Honestly, it’s a lot of work, but I loved every second of it —even the heated debates with Mr. Firas about his designs. But in the end, it all paid off. Now, we’ve got a book that everyone from Pre-K to Grade 12 will get to see and hopefully enjoy—assuming no one notices how many times I ‘accidentally’ missed class to take photos for yearbook"

EMIRATI COMMITTEE

The Emirati Committee has forged a strong cultural foundation within our school, preserving heritage while inspiring pride, unity, and a deeper connection to our national identity. We organized celebrations for national occasions such as Flag Day and National Day, and enjoyed a memorable meeting with former Emirati graduates. The team also led various cultural and heritage-based activities that reflect the authentic values and traditions of the UAE, including the release of the second edition of the Emirati Dialect Dictionary.

SENIOR COMMITTEE

Being the Senior Committee President was an incredibly rewarding experience, filled with fun and unforgettable moments. From organizing exciting senior events to bringing our class together for celebrations, I loved creating memories that made our final year special. Seeing my classmates enjoy these events and knowing I played a role in making them happen was truly fulfilling!

MED CLUB

This year, the Medical Club was all about learning and making a difference. From debates to hands-on activities, we explored the medical field in a fun and engaging way. It’s been amazing to see everyone’s passion grow!

MUN CLUB

The school’s MUN (Model United Nations) team consists of students representing different countries in a simulated UN setting, where they discuss global issues such as human rights and climate change. The team helps students develop skills in research, public speaking, and negotiation, while enhancing their global awareness, leadership, and sense of responsibility—making it a unique educational experience and a source of pride for the school.

Cambodia Cambod

At first, I was hesitant about going to Cambodia, but once I went, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. I made new friends and created lasting memories. From camping in nature and riding elephants to visiting a local school and contributing to charity construction work, every moment was meaningful. I also had the chance to explore fascinating historical landmarks. I highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it — it’s an experience you’ll never regret.

Tanzania Tanza

“I will never forget this trip to Tanzania. At first the thought of traveling for the first time without my family was nerve wracking, but experiencing the trip with my closest friends helped distract me. Meeting the locals, witnessing the wildlife, and creating unforgettable memories with my closest friends are all core memories I will never forget.. I definitely recommend this trip for anyone looking to go in the future.”

Japan J

This years school trip to Japan combined cultural exploration with the enjoyment of nature’s beauty. Students had a wonderful time engaging in skiing activities on the slopes of Mount Fuji near Tokyo. It was an experience full of excitement and adventure, offering a great opportunity to strengthen teamwork, have fun, and create unforgettable memories with their classmates.
