Reported Larcenies APRIL 3 » Martinshöhe: Eight tires.

APRIL 3

5 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center. A military member was observed concealing $838.09 worth of items on his person without rendering proper payment. The individual was apprehended and advised of his legal rights.

APRIL 4

10:37 a.m.: Two high school students were suspected of being in possession of a controlled substance. A military working dog alerted officials to the students’ backpacks. The substance was confirmed to be a controlled substance. The incident is under further investigation. 5:55 p.m.: An Airman attempted to hide a foreign national in the back of his vehicle and enter base without providing proper credentials. The Airman was advised of his legal rights.

APRIL 6

5:48 a.m.: Polizei observed an Airman urinating in public at the Kaiserslautern train station. The Airman was advised of his rights and charged with disorderly conduct/drunkenness.

6:33 a.m.: Polizei stopped a civilian during a routine traffic stop. Upon contact, Polizei detected the strong odor of alcohol. Her USAREUR license was seized and she was advised of her legal rights.

APRIL 7

5:28 a.m.: An Airman was stopped by Polizei for drunken driving. Upon contact, officers smelled the odor of alcohol. The Airman was advised of his legal rights.

APRIL 8

3:19 p.m.: An Airman reported theft of a motor vehicle in Ramstein-Miesenbach.

APRIL 9

5 p.m.: A local national was traveling eastbound at an excessive speed when he attempted to turn right and struck a Soldier’s vehicle. The Soldier’s dependent was treated on scene for head pain. No drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

Miller is the deputy chief of the Personnel Division for U.S. Air Forces in Europe. » In the March 30 edition of the Kaiserslautern American, in the milpay article on the front page, it was incorrectly stated that Ellsworth Air Force Base was located in North Dakota. The base is located in South Dakota. » The name of the retired Army chief of chaplains, who spoke at the National Prayer Luncheon, was misspelled in the March 30 edition of the Kaiserslautern American. It was Maj. Gen. Douglas Carver speaking March 20 at the Ramstein Officers’ Club. » The fire safety commentary in the March 30 edition of the Kaiserslautern American mentioned camp fires in the forest. To clarify, camp fires are not authorized in Germany. According to the state forest law, camp fires are only authorized on designated camp grounds and only in designated fire place areas.

Motorcycle Safety Day

The 21st Theater Sustainment Command hosts a Motorcycle Safety Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 at Kapaun Air Station in Kaiserslautern. Riders can have their motorcycles inspected and their equipment and riding apparel checked before they complete a motorcycle proficiency course, then conduct an approximate 92-kilometer mentorship ride from

AIRMEN AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING STATISTICS April 6 — 38 volunteers, 15 calls, 32 lives potentially saved. April 7 — 14 volunteers, 13 calls, 21 lives potentially saved. First quarter stats — 586 volunteers, 334 calls, 683 lives potentially saved.

FOD checks

A foreign object damage checkpoint study will occur at Mitchell Avenue, adjacent to Ramp 3, until May 31. Operators of construction type vehicles must stop and conduct a roll-over FOD check, removing all debris from tires and securing any loose objects prior to crossing the taxiway. All other vehicles are exempt from accomplishing a FOD check.

17th AF inactivates

Those attending the 17th Air Force’s inactivation ceremony April 20 are advised that parking near Hangar 3 is limited. Shuttle busses will run from the Northside Chapel parking lot beginning at 9 a.m. The ceremony begins at 10. Gate closure

Due to construction at DLA Disposition Services Kaiserslautern, the main entrance will be closed until April 30. During this construction period, gate 2 will be open to traffic. Gate 2 is the first gate on the right side of Ludwigshafener Strasse after exiting A6 at the Ost exit.
