Note (*) il progetto “Via d’Acqua Sud – Canale e collegamento Darsena Expo/Fiera” approvato (progetto sviluppato in stretta relazione con gli enti e le associazioni che operano sul territorio) è divenuto oggetto di revisione a seguito delle resistenze locali di alcuni comitati spontanei. La soluzione originaria puntava su un canale ove possibile a cielo aperto che all’interno dei parchi urbani assumeva una sezione variabile, ma tendenzialmente “distesa”, con sponde verdi morbide, movimenti di terra, macchie di vegetazione e giochi d’acqua al fine di valorizzarne non solo le connotazioni ecologiche ma anche le potenzialità fruitive, mantenendo al contempo tutti i gradi di flessibilità di un’infrastruttura aperta. A seguito delle contestazioni si è invece previsto che un tratto significativo del canale che attraversa i parchi urbani venga intubato. I ritardi accumulati a causa delle suddette contestazioni e delle azioni di boicottaggio fanno inoltre sì che l’opera non sarà pronta per l’evento. Nei sei mesi di Expo Milano 2015 il sistema idraulico non sarà quindi a regime e le acque pulite che confluiscono nel Sito dal Canale Villoresi attraverso la Via d’Acqua Nord nonché le acque meteoriche fito-depurate raccolte all’interno dell’area espositiva non potranno essere convogliate nella rete irrigua – come previsto – ma verranno versate nel fiume Olona e/o nel Deviatore Olona. Solo nella fase postevento il canale verrà terminato con i conseguenti benefici idrici sulla Darsena e sulla rete irrigua dell’ovest e soprattutto del sud Milano, senza più interferire con l’assetto idraulico e ambientale dell’Olona. Anche il percorso di collegamento tra l’alzaia del Naviglio Grande e Expo/Fiera incluso nel progetto troverà pieno compimento solo nel post-Expo.
Notes (*) the approved “South Waterway – Canal and Darsena Expo/Fiera connection” project (developed in close relation with the authorities and local associations) has become the object of revision following local resistance by some spontaneous citizens committees. The original solution aimed at a canal in the open where possible. In the urban parks it took on a variable cross-section but tending to be “stretched” with soft green banks, earth movements, patches of vegetation and water areas/gardens in order not only to make the most of its ecological connotations but also the potential for it to be used, at the same time keeping all the degrees of flexibility of an open infrastructure. Following the protests, a significant part of the canal that goes through the urban parks is now planned to be underground. The delays caused by the aforementioned protests and the boycott actions also mean that the work will not be ready for the event. In the six months of Expo Milano 2015, the hydraulic system will therefore not be running. So the clean water that flows into the Site from the Canale Villoresi through the North Waterway as well as the phito-purified meteoric water collected inside the exhibition area will not be channelled into the irrigation system – as planned – but will pour into the river Olona and/or the Olona Offtake. Only in the post-event phase the canal will be completed with the consequent water benefits on the Darsena and on the irrigation system of the west and above all south of Milan, no longer interfering with the hydraulic and environmental system of the Olona river. The route connecting the towpath of the Naviglio Grande and Expo/Fiera included in the project will also be fully completed after the Expo.
