EDI TO RI AL

Dear Readers, It may seem strange to many, but I’ve always treated the month of September as though it were the beginning of a New Year. The thought of August 31st as New Year’s Eve? While strange sounding, it may be true. This school of thought allows me to view September as a month of rebirth and of new opportunities. This year, leading up to the month of September, I have worked on many new ideas to feature. I try to work every day with a sense of commitment, strength, dedication and passion. Throughout the years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many people and give them working tools to help their small and big business dreams become a reality—all while sharing my loyalty and love for what I do. Several years ago I started working on a “Grand Italian Design.” My first thought was that when many people talk about work, they do so with negative connotations; yet, people spend more time at work than they do with family or friends. When reflecting on this thought, a gray world came to mind, with no emotion and no vision. However, the working world should be seen as a strong color like red—powerful, creative, passionate. My second thought was: How can I change this? No one deserves to feel negatively about their job. I am lucky because I have a career I love! How can I show people how to feel the same way about their jobs as I do about mine? With Adamis Group, we have reached very high levels of quality, loyalty and love of work from our employees. It was in these words that I found the key to everything: “Love for the job.” So my new vision was born: “LOVE FOR WORK - Employment Agency.” Via this employment agency, I can reach a broader market, offer a unique work dynamic, and provide new training. Therefore, LOVE FOR WORK is an employment agency for all purposes. ADAMIS GROUP and LOVE FOR WORK, together, are two new partners working to change the labor market in Italy! We are developing new work procedures and training techniques to create a colorful, lively, fresh and youthful employment agency that has a passion for what we do. We have increased our presence in Italy with offices in Rome, Milan, Turin and Verona to offer you more locations of choice. But we did not change our core beliefs; we’ve kept our original DNA. LOVE FOR WORK is ADAMIS and ADAMIS is LOVE FOR WORK—we are two entities with the same heart and soul. Are you ready to get involved? Are you ready to cheer along with us? Are you ready to experience the emotion? LOVE FOR WORK is for those who are tired of just Mario Conti settling, for those who love their work, and for Editorial Director those who still want to get excited. mc@livingadamis.com Love For ... ome attribute the creation of the first example of a contact lens to Leonardo da Vinci, who in the sixteenth century developed the concept of a corneal lens. In reality, the first lens was created close to the end of the 1800s by British astronomer Sir John Herschel; he created a lens able to fit the patient’s eye by using a mold of the eye. German, Swiss and French eye doctors all studied and developed initial prototypes of contact lenses but it wasn’t until 1961 when Czech pharmacists created a soft plastic material, called Hidroxietil Metacrilato or HEMA, allowing contact lenses to be smaller and thinner, eventually leading to the dimensions of lenses that became common in the 1970s and are stilled used today. Those with vision problems made contact lenses very popular as they loved the convenience of them. The evolution of contact lenses continues today with new techniques developed to satisfy various needs of patients. There are currently many types of contact lenses on the market: from those hard/rigid gas-permeable lenses to soft contact lenses for extended use, disposable lenses, bifocal lenses and cosmetic lenses. Bichactomia Cheek Reduction procedure A new surgical technique that refines the face by Mauro Tarallo

eyond typical liposuction and silicone implants, a new method of surgical procedure is becoming popular with both men and women in their 20’s and 30’s Bichectomia or cheek reduction. This plastic surgery procedure removes excess fat in the cheeks. While still relatively unknown in Italy,

Bichectomia surgery consists of the elimination of the “buckle of fat,” or the fat accumulation that is located in the cheeks found in both young people, and in people who are larger or who have gained weight. The “buckle of fat” is located between the masseter muscle, laterally, and the buccinator muscle, medially. Its function is to support the cheeks: it is what makes children appear chubby in the face. When we age, this fullness tends to reduce, but in certain cases, it never truly

HEALTH & FITNESS disappears—even with dieting. This area of fullness can be treated with liposuction, but if completely eliminated with extreme lipo, then the patient can be left with a fallen down look giving them jowls, similar to that of a bulldog. The surgical procedure involves two incisions inside the mouth, from 1 to 3 cm each, and suctioning all or some of the fat from the desired area. The procedure, which lasts about 40 minutes, may be performed under local or general anesthesia, with the recovery time being similar to that of an extracted wisdom tooth. Many women and men do not like the looks of their cheeks because they are overweight and

have chubby cheeks. Of course, when we reach our 40’s and 50’s, the reverse happens and the face loses its volume and people seek out procedures to once again increase the fullness in the cheeks using fillers or hyaluronic acid to gain a more youthful appearance. Although it may seem like a simple procedure, Bichectomia does involve risk. Once such risk is the accidental cutting of nerve endings, which can cause facial paralysis; another is the possibility of damaging the parotide duct (the channel that carries the saliva), so it is recommended to use a plastic surgeon who is experienced in this procedure.

“While still relatively unknown in Italy, Bichectomia surgery consists of the elimination of the “buckle of fat,” or the fat accumulation that is located in the cheeks found in both young people”

et’s admit it: The dream of many aspiring cooks is to amaze family and friends with delicious cuisine. However, now we can have a gourmet pizza, fresh sushi or a grilled kebab—the high quality food and beverages found in Italy—via vacuum sealing. The idea of using vacuum sealing was born in the Food Valley of Parma, Italy. The award-winning company leading this revolution is called Foodes and they are revolutionizing Italian tables. This type of service is currently aimed at hotels and restaurants; though it will soon be an interactive e-commerce portal where the consumer will be able to order whatever gourmet dish they desire and have it delivered to their home … all with a simple click on the computer or smart phone. The meal’s ingredients include high quality oil, vinegar, salt, sugar and spices, and avoid any chemical additives or ingredients. A low temperature vacuum is used for food preparation and packaging, thereby preserving the integrity as well as the nutritional and organic properties. The idea is an old one; it was simply adapted to the present day through the study of new technologies. The vacuum method was always present in our kitchens for generations. Think back to when our grandmothers were making tomato sauce and preserving it in jars. Once the tomato sauce was put into the jars and then inverted, the vacuum process would do the rest. The canned/jarred food would then last for years with this vacuum method. Today, available recipes range from regional cuisine to the contemporary, to vegetarian dishes as well as

to gluten-free options. One surprising example: Duck with Orange Sauce, which can be ready in only five minutes! To start, boil a pot of water large enough to hold the packaged dish selected. Once it has reached a boil, turn off the flame under the pot. Immerse the envelope of the orange sauce in the boiled water for at least 3 minutes. Heat the frying pan, remove the duck breast from the envelope and without adding oil, arrange it in the pan, skin side down, and let it brown for 3 minutes, turn it over and continue to sear for 1 minute. Slice the duck breast and arrange it on a plate. Remove the pouch of orange sauce from the hot water using tongs, cut it open, and pour it evenly over the sliced duck breast and Voila! ‌ Dinner is ready. Introducing the Magellan 66: a 20-meter mega-yacht the hollows of the wave. The Magellan 66 is a boat that you can take on long excursions and even through less than favorable wind and sea conditions. The main deck of the vessel is spread out on one unobstructed level with the large sliding door of the cockpit opening onto the bow where the wheelhouse and kitchen are located. Looking across the main deck, you will see elegant and stunning views along the horizon. The cabin boasts an L-shaped sofa, an impressive bar area with 50 TVs and a comfortable dining table. All of these features are standard in the Magellan 66 and are also available in a Shuttle version. 48

The Magellan 66 offers an additional private lounging area that is also found in the more recent Magellan 53 model. Storage space for on-board equipment and leisure gear is also unparalleled. The large master suite is located on the lower deck and boasts ample head room. The space is drenched in natural light and is elegant, yet practical, thanks to considerable storage available. The same attention to detail is evident in the VIP guest cabins and the rest of the interior areas because there can never be enough on-board storage space. The fourth cabin is designed as a utility room but, upon request, it can be set up as a cabin

BOATS with bunk beds. The washer and dryer are conveniently accessible from the hallway booths. The performance of Magellan, with two Volvo Penta D13 (800 hp each), is perfectly in line with the philosophy of a modern long-range yacht. In

full displacement at 9 knots you have a range of more than 900 miles (including a 10% reserve). The considerable cruising speed stands at 16-18 knots, a goal achieved thanks to the Dual Mode hull with a double edge that enhances gliding.

With more futuristic lines than the old model, the XC90 is an oversized SUV (4.95 m long and 2.01 m wide). The unique style can be classified as elegant or sporty, depending on the package chosen, which is differentiated mainly by small aesthetic details and circles. The interior is futuristic and luxurious with cutting edge solutions like the digital panel and the large touch screen in the dashboard to control all on-board services. The same unit is used by the plug-in hybrid T8 Twin Engine. In combination with an 80 hp electric motor connected to the rear wheels, the Volvo XC90 is able to drive independently for about 40 km. Alternatively, there is the biturbodiesel D5 that, like the others, has the 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Priced from 60,000 Euros.
