EDI TO RI AL

What drives us to keep aiming higher and higher? Life is made of ups and downs. But how can we interpete this hefty roller coaster that makes the difference between losing and winning? We are defenceless up against this cosmic game of souls and lives. We can’t stop, we won’t stop. Waiting for life, waiting, arms folded, for something to change, to become real, to surprise us. Why? We are used to avoid thinking, to avoid asking ourselves what do we really want deep down in our souls. We don’t stop to avoid being caught up. We don’t stop to avoid being a disappointment. But why? Because, maybe, running is by now our true nature. Violet borders shape in my mind the dawn of a new start that turns into warm noon sunlight if we truly believe in it. I believe, I am not stopping, I keep fueling my dreams like a kid keeps charging his game, like an adrenalin shock after a smile. I want to see my dreams dancing to the soundtrack of my life. My life. I dream to avoid dying inside, I dream because that is the only thing I really know how to do. If this is a crime then, unconsciously, I am the biggest criminal in the world. Simple words listen and define my silence, closed in an infinite space. Overwhelmed by my thoughts I perceive nothing. A moment of beginning and torture. I keep rising higher, but where is the end? Laughter echoing from afar, but I do not hear anything, I do not see anyone. I realize it… today is my future. I can’t stop, I won’t stop.

ince some time the male bon ton rules have not been the same of our fathers. The beard is fashionable, long and messy hair is cool, bicolor suits are elegant, a tie is not always necessary, sneakers can be worn with suits and jeans, paired with a blazer, is a synonim of classy. For the Summer 2015 fashion goes beyond taboos and requires the modern man to expose and exceedingly uncover his legs, combining classic pieces from a gentleman's wardrobe with other pieces, revisited and "shortened". While blazers and jackets remain classic in the shapes and are reinterpreted with brighter colors and soft and more technical fabrics, pants are the ones that are twisted to the extent of almost totally exposing legs, well

A new mix is born and a new perception of elegance envisages ultra short pants under trenches and robe-like jackets, better if color-coordinated like if they were blazer and trousers. For those wrenching their noses to this innovation, fashion conceived a valid alternative with see-through t-shirts, highly erotic under blazer, presented by Versace, or with a mix of tradition and modernity by wearing an old-school fanny pack paired with flashy tatoos, suggested by Fendi. SPRING IS BACK

FASHION

Sping is at the doorstep? Let's spoil the color explosion we will see in the city streets. The must haves proposed for the season are few and essential, with a little bit of imagination it will be possible to retrieve them in mom's closet or recycle sale items from the previous season and forgot in the wardrobe. This season we discover the mix and match from dofferent decades, like the beloved 80s and 70s. The first piece is the oversize jeans, rigorously high-waisted to be paired by the bravest with micro tops, even sporty ones, inspired by New York's streets, where the "urban style" cuts by Alexander Wang rule. As we say goodbye to the Formentera-style hotpants we welcome a-line skirts, wheel-shaped and tight on the waist. the choice is up to you for patterns and fabrics, the only imposition is that they must be so colorful to kick the bordeaux leather from last year way back into far memories. The great comeback accessory is the backpack, better if print-patterned and multi-color, like the one sported by Cara Delavigne for Mulberry. If until some time ago it was an "out", this year it is definitely in: weather worn "new normal" or mono-shoulder, it with undoubtly become an essential element in everydays' hectic life. Another back-in-thetrend is also the biker leather jacket,

which has been spotted on runways quite often im teh recent years. This year's version is mettallic, golden or silver, with a vintage texture. To finish the look and own all the must haves for the upcoming season it is required to retrieve a great classic ffrom the 70s Coachella-style: the crochet top, recently proposed again by Miu Miu, the most naif line of the Prada group. The best ingredient to mix it all is daring! Lately fashion allows us to do dare more than ever, better taking advantage of it and exploiting the occasion!

If for many artists (writers, poets and sculptors) beauty is something divine, the concept is transformed in something tangible and concrete thanks to the, often undervalued, art form of fashion. Stylists make past standards contemporary, transforming the woman in a modern goddess that prefers rigorous, minimal and noble outfits.Embroidery and lace are featured, together with pailettes and glitter to satisfy female vanity but, when featured, they are perfectly inserted in the context of the stylist's creation. The palette is a-chromatic. Accessories are made of metal, silver, lurex and colored in silver and gold without excessive decorations. The makeup finishes and transforms the female image redefining the concept of beauty, the light poses discretely on the applecheeks, the lips and the nails. True beauty, after all, lies it the pureness of the heart.

Non-invasive blepharoplasty A younger look without a scalpel 38

T

he non-invasive blepharoplasty is performed with a new generation instrument, the Plexer. It is an innovative technique that reduces the excess dermis on the eyelids without cutting to remove it. Since it does not require stitches it allows to "shorten" the skin without modifying the orbicularis eyelids' muscle, therefore obtaining a very natural effect. Differently from the traditional operation it does not remove the excess skin yet only shortens the eyelids dermis by increasing its width therefore bringing the skin back to the situation preceding the beauty flaw. After having sterilized the eyelid and, for the most sensitive patients having applied a Lidocaine-based anahestetic ointment, small spotlights are performed, using the Plexer, that transform the dead cells of the eyelids epidermis; these do indeed pass from sold to gas state allowing the shortening and the increase in width. During the treatment the patient is invited to open and close the eyes to try to target only the interested areas and avoiding an excessive shortening. Once the session is over ice is applied on the eyelids to avoid the possible formation of edema. In the following days the patient will not need to use antibiotics nor apply any particular medication; he/she will only have the diligence to wash the treated area with mild soap, disinfect with eyedrops that will be prescribed and shelter from UV rays with sunglasses. The length of the post-operation period is 10 days maximum. In the case of a great excess od dermis, it is adviceable to repeat the treatment for 3-4 sessions about one month apart from each

other, to limit the formation of eyelid edema that usually appears on the second day after the treatment and lasts few days. The obtained results lasts for years and is often permanent. When undergoing a blapheroplasty treatment with the Plexer on top of the reduction of the excess skin of the higher eyelid patients also experience a shortening of the dermis at a periorbital level, consequently beauty flaws like crow's feet that develop in the surrounding area. The cost if the operation, with respect to the traditional blaspheroplasty is 70% lower. This technique has of course limited indications: it is not adviced for patients with a particularly prominent skin excess or with a loss of tone in the orbicularis muscle, in which case additional procedures will be necessary. The specialist will indicate, during the preliminary visit, the most appropriate treatment.

ts glorious past is strictly linked to the Nabataeans nomadic community , which came from the Arabic peninsula and in the VI century b.C forced the Edom people to leave, starting a flourishing period thanks to the strategic location of the city, unavoidable passage for the caravan routes that were at that time linking Asia and the Mediterranean. The name of this archaeological site (from the Greek petra=stone) reveals right from the start what is the distinctive feature of this place: a city entirely carved and built in the stone that has still today a lot to reveal about itself. After having held the stage for over five centuries and having reached the height of its splendor in I century b.C, Petra faced a relentless decline caused by the economic growth of the close city of

Palmyra, in Syria, that ensured the commercial exchanges along the so called Silk Road. In 106 A.D. it was definitively conquered by the Roman Empire that transformed it into an Arab province. In the XII century A.D. it was taken over by the muslims that shortly settled there and starting 1189 (year in which Saladin conquered the last two Crusade strongholds) up to the XIX century it was left in complete oblivion nd disinterest. For centuries the existence of this "lost city" was aknowledged exclusively by the local Bedouins who, fearing the arrival of foreigners within their land, preferred to hide its existence from the world. In 1812 a Swiss explorer named J.L. Burckhardt (who also discover the Abu Simbel site in Egypt an year later), after having heard of a legendary lost city, dressed up like an Arab and pretended to Treasure Palace (Al.Khannen)

A new philosophy for the 21st century's humans that covers the entire story of the movement and in depth analysis of many specific topics. Does Transhumanism correspond to a utopic version of reality or is it something pragmatically feasible in today's society or in the near future? "H+ is not utopic at all, it is indeed a tangible project that aims at affecting practical reality; of course, even H+has its utopies and dreams, like technological singularity, a kind of fusion of all of the collective intelligences (both barbon and silicon-made) of the planet, like precoined by the futurologist Raymond Kurzweil (now encharged of Google technical division) and based on an idea by the mathematician and writer Vernor Vinge. I believe that utopy, intended like a very remote yet achievable objective, is a stimulus to each human activity." How is the Transhuman vision translated into actions in everyday's life? "Using technologies to improve to live better; like via medicines, anti-aging strategies, smart Internet and the World Web, energy, robotics, cognitive enhancing. But also spatial esploration, nanotechnology, bioinformatics. I would also like to point out an interesting initiative: Dimitri Itskov, a Russian millionaire, is working globally at a project, named 2045 Initiative, to build a Cyborg that will have practical consequences in the creation of exoskeletons to help those who have suffered mobility loss, like, for example, children that have been blown and hurt by mines."

he multiple awards winner Hollywood star, Kevin Spacey is at the highest, yet most obscure, position of his career. If you loved him, as I did, in "The Usual Suspects", "American Beauty" or "Midnight in the garden of Good and Evil", you won't help but adore "House of Cards". Launched by Netflix, the American on demand online streaming service company,in the "Watch Instantly" section, House of Cards is the first online-TV program to receive 9 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, among

which in the categories Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for David Fincher, Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for a Drama Series For Kevin Spacey and Outstanding Lead Actress for a Drama Series for Robin Wright. The series further received 4 nominations for the Golden Globes and Robin Wright won one for Best Actress. The second season received 13 nominations for the Emmy Awards. Set in today's Washington D.C., House of Cards is the story

INTERIOR of Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, a Democrat elected in the fifth congressual district of South Carolina and head of the majority in the House of Representatives, who is not appointed as Secretary of State after having been promised the title by the newly elected President and starts seeking personal revenge aiming at the political summit in Washington. uring his climb, based on deception and deceit schemed in the shadow, he can count on an extremely valuable ally: his beautiful, brilliant and loyal wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright), who is busy trying to become the most powerful wife in Washington. The series focuses on ruthless utilitarism, manipulation, power and doing all it takes to reach personal objectives. Despite the very bold choice by Netflix of investing on a couple of ambitious productions without any

guarantee of success, it has been easy to convince other people to join the production right from the start. After all when one has actors as Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly and Kate Mara under David Fincher's guidance on top of the scenographer Steve Arnold (very attentive to the standards and with a peculiar aesthetic eye for design) and great names among productors like Eric Rothe and Joshua Donen, nothing less than a high quality product can be expected. Beau Willimon, the main writer, already wrote the "Ides of March". great young talent who has been closely exposed to Washington D.C.'s politics and well understands it. It would have been hard to create a show like "House of Cards" given that in Washington D.C can be very difficult place to film. There are deputies, diplomats, the President and the Vice- President, important personalities
