Founded in 1971, Acts is the nation’s largest not-for-profit owner, operator and developer of Life Plan (or continuing care retirement) communities. Acts operates a family of 28 communities spanning nine states, from Pennsylvania to Florida—collectively home to nearly 11,000 people.
Acts provides residents with the security of knowing that whatever level of living is needed, they can receive it with no resulting increase in cost based solely on the need to move to a higher level of living.
Residents choose Acts for the enhanced lifestyle and experiences provided; for the peace of mind they and their loved ones have; for the organization’s strength, stability and over 50-year track record of success; and for the spirit of loving-kindness in Acts communities. Founded by a suburban Philadelphia pastor seeking a better way to serve aging members of his congregation, Acts maintains its Christian heritage, while warmly welcoming people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Acts is committed to providing security and peace of mind to seniors by being a pre-eminent provider of retirement-life services, responsive to individual, social, personal, health and spiritual needs in a Christian atmosphere graced with loving-kindness, dignity, sensitivity, honesty and respect without prejudice or preference.
With communities from Pennsylvania to Florida, Acts is committed to serving older adults.

Acts Affiliate Community
Ron Flynn, a resident of The Evergreens, moved into the Moorestown, New Jersey, retirement community four years before its affiliation with Acts. Ron and his wife visited 12 continuing care retirement communities, including four Acts communities in the Northeast region, before deciding to move into The Evergreens. When The Evergreens joined the Acts family in 2018, he was very invested in its success.
For Ron and many residents, the affiliation brought about much-desired community enhancements and a very positive outlook for the future. In March of 2022, The Evergreens began its most ambitious expansion in the community’s history, which includes a fully renovated clubhouse, lobby area, and front entrance. Residents will enjoy a new bistro, coffee shop, library, theater, wellness center, hair salon and rehabilitation space, as well as an expanded fitness center and renovated restaurants and game room.
“As a result of the affiliation, The Evergreens was able to refinance our existing debt, which allowed for the creation of $10 million to use for renovation projects,” Ron said. The renovations will help attract the next generation of retirees.
“I personally have an interest in finance because I’m a certified public accountant. We have certainly benefited from the affiliation by virtue of association with a larger organization with better reach and financing, providing us many more opportunities, like renovations, that we didn’t have before Acts.”

Erica Richardson
MANAGING DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Erica Richardson has the unique experience of both working at a community that later affiliated with Acts Retirement-Life Communities, and playing a critical role in the employee transition process for other affiliate communities.
Erica worked at the Delaware-based Peninsula United Methodist Homes (PUMH), which affiliated with Acts in 2010. Working in human resources at Acts, Erica was closely involved in our recent affiliations,
“During the transition process, employees who may have been hesitant at first found out about all the benefits that Acts offers and became very excited over programs like Acts Corporate University and tuition reimbursement,” Erica added.
“Another positive aspect in Acts affiliations is that there is no interruption in service to employees. Their original hire date is honored, and they immediately begin to reap the benefits we offer such as service award dinners, longevity awards and our generous paid time off program.”
Acts also holds special celebratory welcoming events at affiliate communities. Erica said, “It brings our cultures together, giving employees and residents a sense of belonging and family.”
