Au pair in America family profiles

Los Angeles, California – The Benson Family We are a first time family to the program and we are very excited to have an Au Pair in our home. My husband and I have done a lot of travelling and we like to learn about new cultures, so we think that hosting an Au Pair would be a great experience for our children.

My husband and I met in France and decided to move the U.S. to start our careers and family. My husband, 34, works for a financial company roughly 45 minutes away from our home. He works longs hours during the week but makes sure to be free on the weekends. I’m originally from France, 33, and now work in the local area for a publishing company and have set hours. I enjoy shopping and socializing with family and friends.

Our son is 14 months old and is very active for his age. We often take him to the park on sunny days so that he can crawl around and explore, which he loves to do. We take him to baby playgroup so that he can interact with other children and play with them as he has no siblings and we don’t want him to get lonely.

We live in a nice quiet street in Los Angeles, California. There are numerous activities around the area and you will always find something fun to do. Our neighbourhood is very friendly and safe, I’m sure you will get along with everyone. Our home is modest but you will have your own room with a television and en-suite bathroom. Our garden is spacious and you will be able to spend hot summer days out on the hammock or enjoying a family barbeque.

You will have access to the family car to use during your free time or to attend college.

We encourage you to make the most of this experience, go out and meet other au pairs. California is a wonderful state to live in. We hope that you become an addition to our family and that our child flourishes under your care. We are an easy going family and hope to see you very soon!

Florida, Palm Springs - The Chase Family We are very excited to host an au pair for the year and welcome her into our family. We are a family of 4 which includes me, my husband and our 2 adorable little girls. They are 3 year old twins with very different personalities.

Vanessa is a very girly girl who likes to play with dolls and play dress up, Harriet is a very active and sporty girl and likes to play outdoors most of the time. We also have a small dog called Rainbow who is a very happy little animal and likes to enjoy time in the park.

I work for a marketing agency and my husband works at a law firm. His job requires him to work late a lot of the time so mostly he is out of the house. We both work full time and are very much work orientated but enjoy spending most of our time with the girls on the weekend.

We live in Palm Springs in Florida, which is a beautiful area. We are very close to the beach and often spend our weekends by the sea. We also live close to a wildlife park where we like to spend our time exploring. Our house is a very nice size. We have 4 bedrooms, an open plan living room and kitchen, a dining room, study room and a nice big garden. You will have your own double room and are welcome to use the rest of the house. We like to keep our home tidy and would appreciate if you could do the same. We will not ask for you to do any house hold chores as we have a cleaner who comes in once a week, but we do ask that you keep the girls’ room, and your room tidy.

We live near a main street which has a nice few coffee shops and entertainment places such as the movie theatre so you will have plenty of things to do in your free time.

We have a family car that you will be able to use to run errands and to attend your classes.

There are quite a lot of au pairs in our cluster so we hope that you make good friends with them and enjoy your time here with us. We hope to give you a wonderful experience and create many memories. We look forward to having an au pair in our family and can’t wait to meet you.

Lansing, Michigan – The Collins Family We have been on the Au Pair in America program for two years and are now searching for our next au pair. We are interested in bringing an au pair into our home for the help she can bring to our busy family, but also for the opportunity to share different life experiences with us and our children. We are a close and outgoing family and we think our home is a comfortable environment for someone interested in experiencing life in America. In return we would expect that our au pair would be respectful of our values and our household, and teach our children to be the same.

My wife and I are both Employment Advisors and in our mid thirties. We have four lovely boys aged 2, 3, 7 and 9. They all have very different personalities and very different schedules, hence the reason for an au pair. Our two youngest go to playgroup 3 days a week and would stay with you for the other two days. While they are at playgroup, you will have free time. The University is about 15 minutes away and there are also several Community Colleges in the area. The two older boys go to the same private school which they travel to by bus. The famous yellow school bus stops outside our house, which is very convenient. They are both very sporty and take part in soccer, swimming and baseball. It is important that you check that they have the correct sports gear with them in the mornings. They usually get home around 4pm and then it’s time for homework. We enjoy having meals together in the evening and telling each other about our day, so we would like you to join us for meals if you are happy to do so.

Lastly, we would help and encourage our au pair to get to know America.

There are many au pairs that live in our area, so meeting new friends should not be a problem. There is also a big mall with plenty of shops so there are plenty of places to go. We look forward to meeting our next au pair.

Trenton, New Jersey - The Smith Family We’ve had Au Pairs in our family for the past 5 years and look forward to meeting our new family member. I’m a single host dad with two lovely little girls. We live in a city called Trenton in the state of New Jersey. Trenton is a lovely city with a lot of history, great if you love exploring. There are Universities in the area that will offer many courses of interest, as well as shopping malls, the movie theatre and restaurants.

I work for a historical society and my primary goal is to mark historical sites and help preserve national landmarks around the Trenton area. I’m a history fanatic and enjoy my job very much. My daughters, 8 and 10, have different personalities but are both very sweet. They enjoy going to school but struggle to get up in the mornings. They both go to after school activities at the local sports center.

We live in a 4 bedroom home which is quite spacious and has very nice views.

You will have your own room with a view that overlooks the big garden. You will also have your own bathroom and an automatic car to use in your free time. I am quite strict when it comes to rules so I like the girls to follow all the rules I set in the house, such as keeping the house tidy and cleaning up after them. You will not have to do any household chores, simply just tidying up after yourself and the girls. You should also be a role model for them when it comes to following the rules as I’d like them to grow up into respectful young ladies.

We enjoy spending time together as a family and would very much like you to feel part of it. We’ve always had a great relationship with our Au Pair and hope that you will enjoy your time with us.
