Becky Dawson

One Lane Road

For native Oregonian Becky Dawson, the artist and owner of One Lane Road, her creative journey began after a decade-long career as a hairstylist. She eventually transitioned to art, inspired in part by the artistic legacy of her mother and grandmother, both bold, prolific artists. In addition to running her art business, Becky is involved in the local arts community. She serves as a board member for the Three Rivers Artist Guild and helps organize the Oregon City Open Studios Tour. Becky and her husband, Shane, have two daughters, Stella (16) and Cora (11). Their household also includes a lively mix of pets: a dog named Barnacle, two cats, Vinny and Franny, and a rabbit named Clover. Outside work, Becky enjoys treasure hunting at thrift stores and estate sales, cooking, exploring new restaurants, gardening and spending time in nature.

QWhat does your business do? What makes it unique?

My art-based business includes a line of illustrated gift products — tea towels, tote bags, stickers and greeting cards — designed by me and manufactured for retail. I also paint, create ceramic sculptures and take on illustration projects for companies and small businesses. I occasionally do murals. I own a brick-and-mortar gallery and gift shop located in Oregon City called One

Lane Road, attached to my painting studio, which I open monthly. The largest part of my business is selling my gift products to hundreds of shops worldwide. My business is an extension of my imagination, tailored to fit the lifestyle I want to live.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

My desire to keep this dream alive! As a creative, I thrive on sharing my endless stream of ideas and turning them into tangible projects that people love. Bringing my vision to life and seeing it resonate with others is incredibly fulfilling.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I’m proud to have my products in hundreds of stores, clients like Trader Joe’s and the Portland Trail Blazers, and coverage in The Oregonian. But most of all, I’m proud of my grit and determination in building this business from scratch and keeping it thriving for 14 years.

Q What’s your advice for young women in business?

Treat your biz like a biz, not a hobby. Take what you do seriously if you want others to do the same. Be your biggest fan — if you don’t believe in yourself, no one will.

Q How’d you describe your perfect day off?

Thrifting or treasure hunting at an estate sale, Indian food, quality time with my family, and laughing by a fire with friends.

Debbie Dille

Active Media Publishing

As a business development representative for Active Media Publishing, Debbie Dille helped bring this feature to life! Raised in Prineville, she’s lived in many places, including London, where she earned the final piece of her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. Now married to her husband, Dan Baltus, Debbie has two sons from a previous marriage, Joshua and Jake, both in their 30s, and two granddaughters. She has volunteered with HomePlate Youth Services and enjoys playing piano and singing, attending book club gatherings and hiking — when she can get away.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

I’ve worked as a private contractor for several businesses over the last few years. Before the pandemic, I was the business manager for Pint-Sized Productions, handling event booth sales, prize procurement and client services. During COVID, I began working for Alluvial Beverage and Vertical Wine & Beer (now ECB Selections), selling to restaurants, pubs and retailers. I still do this, in addition to my most recent position as a business development rep for Active Media.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I like working with people, and though I do wish to semi-retire soon to begin traveling with my husband, I would also like to stay busy and active with a profession.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

In the early 2000s, when Trader Publications, a national chain of magazines, suddenly discontinued Metro Parent Magazine, the editor and her husband immediately purchased the office equipment and took control of business operations. I was one of two marketing reps who assumed all of the advertising sales, boosted the total revenue and kept things running without missing a beat. The next month’s issue came out right on schedule, and we displayed more advertising in the pages than we’d had in the six months prior, as our clients were so supportive and excited about the new management.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

I still struggle to focus on daily progress and not obsess about obtaining perfection. Sales is a tough business that can take a toll on inner morale and self-confidence. So effectively managing one’s time — particularly if working from home — is imperative, and focusing on accomplishing certain daily tasks is more to the point. Success will ultimately follow, even if it takes a little more time.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

Sleeping in until 7 a.m. and then sitting in my hot tub with a mocha, while feeding the neighborhood crows that fly over for a visit. I also like long walks with my husband and scenic drives in wine country.

Michelle Elam

The Glow Up Aesthetics

Michelle Elam, a dedicated nurse practitioner and owner of The Glow Up Aesthetics, was born and raised in Oregon. Her educational journey began at Mt. Hood Community College, where she earned her RN, followed by a bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) from Linfield College and a master’s in nursing (MSN) from United States University in San Diego. After nine years as an RN in various hospital systems, she pursued her passion for aesthetics, starting in 2019. Michelle is the proud mother of two daughters, Gracelyn (11) and Lila (8), and their family includes a King Charles Cavalier named Biscuit and two bunnies, Twinkle and Princess. A selfproclaimed night owl, she enjoys working out, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

I own an aesthetics practice that functions more like a collaborative with two other fabulous ladies/business owners. Together, we provide services like injectables (Botox, filler, Sculptra) microneedling, chemical peels, laser, IPL, PRF, weight loss and so much more. The fact that the three of us have our own individual businesses that work together under one roof in such a beautiful, cohesive way makes us unique.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I’m a bit of a thrill-seeker, which leads me to new and exciting ventures quite often. I love learning new skills and advancing my education to stay current on the best and safest treatments for my patients.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I recently launched a skincare line called Saving Face Company, which has been a huge passion project and allowed me to expand my skills and knowledge in a completely new industry.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

You don’t need to have everything figured out. It will come in small wins that don’t always seem significant in the moment, but they will eventually compound over time into something amazing! Your mindset is everything and will determine your success.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

A sunny day at the beach with my girls and, of course, our little pup, Biscuit.

Q What is at the top of your bucket list?

Visiting Italy — which I did solo this past summer! I’d pick Greece for the next one!

Q What do you love most about Oregon City?

I love Oregon City for its unique and family-friendly culture.

Holly Marie

Holly Marie Soul Coaching

Holly Marie, Shamanic practitioner and hypnotherapist at Holly Marie Soul Coaching, was raised in the foothills of Mt. Diablo in California. Her educational journey includes Diablo Valley Community College, the American Institute of Massage Therapy and the NW Hypnosis Institute. She also studied Reiki and was mentored by the late DaEl Walker, a Cherokee Elder. Her spiritual path deepened through teachings and initiations by the Q’ero Tribes of the Andean Mountain Range, alongside studies inspired by Michael Harner and The Four Winds Society. She is married to Mark Walsh and is the proud mother of Phoenix (16). Holly enjoys fitness, snowboarding, paddleboarding, road cycling and traveling. She also serves her community as a volunteer in her son’s sports and school, and community creek clean-up.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

When you’ve exhausted all other resources, I help you move past physical and mental blocks caused by unhealed emotions. I take you into an altered state of consciousness using regression therapy while using your body’s energy centers as a timeline to find the general age of when trauma occurred. This bypasses years of talk therapy because

we are uncovering suppressed memories from this lifetime or former lives. My lineage of mentors believes most physical ailments are caused by emotions, which I’ve found to be true. Inner child work accompanied by ‘soul retrieval’ is one the most powerful gifts you can give yourself to heal old trauma.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I thrive on helping people break free from the constraints of their old ways. When someone is liberated and able to boldly change their life for the better, I get so excited! If I can get someone to selfregulate instead of reaching for an anxiety medication, it’s a win/win.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I love being able to work with people across the U.S. Much of my work is done remotely, and it’s humbling to be trusted afar. I am proud to work with professionals who have an open mind and allow me to help them face their shadows.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

You need to be stronger than your fear, and you are. We are all gifted creators, and sometimes the hardest hurdle is to just believe in yourself. Resist negativity, listen to your heart and be uniquely creative.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

Snowboarding or cycling to recharge myself. Then grab dinner with friends or family somewhere fun and festive.

My business stands out because I’m not just focused on helping people with buying and selling homes; I’m committed to being a lifetime real estate resource for my clients.

I prioritize education, helping people understand the market, homeownership responsibilities and long-term wealthbuilding strategies. Whether it’s guiding first-time buyers, advising investors or offering home maintenance tips, I empower my clients to make informed decisions that support their financial future.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

This industry changed my life, giving me financial freedom and opportunities I never imagined. That’s why I’m passionate about helping others achieve the same, whether it’s buying their first home, building wealth or making informed decisions for their future.

The impact I’ve had on so many people who once thought their dream was out of reach. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone start building generational wealth or achieve a goal they never thought possible.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

Believe in your value and never be afraid to be uncomfortable. Confidence comes from knowledge, so invest in learning. Build genuine relationships. Don’t be discouraged by challenges; instead, use them to grow.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

Sunshine and spending time with my family. I love experiencing new places with my kids.

Sarah Schlamp, LMT

Massage Solace

Sarah Schlamp, LMT, is a healer at heart — with hands that soothe, a mission that uplifts, and a knack for turning wellness into generosity. A massage therapist since 2008, she set up shop in OC in 2010, helping people feel their best one session at a time. For over 15 years, she has volunteered with a nonprofit supporting women healing from domestic violence. Inspired by their resilience, she founded OAKS Resources, a nonprofit dedicated to helping those in need. Always thinking outside the box, Sarah combined her passion for wellness with her drive to give back by setting up an infrared sauna — where every session promotes health and funds OAKS Resources. Sarah and her husband have a beautiful family, including three children, two bonus children and a lively bunch of grandkids who keep life fun and full of love.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

I’m passionate about helping people live pain-free through massage therapy, infrared sauna and now mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT). Massage is a key part of healing, and I love exploring different approaches to alleviate pain and injury. Infrared sauna boosts circulation, reduces muscle tension and speeds recovery, while supporting stress relief,

better sleep and cardiovascular health. It’s a great way to reset your body naturally. mHBOT enhances healing by delivering concentrated oxygen to your body, which supports energy, brain function, and tissue repair. It’s a non-invasive, science-backed therapy that can help with chronic pain, stress and recovery.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

Knowing that I can make a difference for someone with chronic pain. If I can help bring someone’s pain down so that they function better, or send them to someone else who can help, that’s a win.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I’m super excited about bringing the mild Hyperbaric Chamber to Oregon City and making it accessible for people here locally.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

Know that you were created for a purpose, with skills and talents that no one else has. The world needs what YOU can bring to it, so don’t worry about other people. Explore what you love so that you can fulfill the destiny that you were created for.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

If I have made a difference for someone else, encouraged or helped someone get or feel better, or pointed them in the right direction, then I’ve had a great day!
