Monique Alloway

The House Pilates

Monique Alloway, the owner of The House Pilates, finished the BASI graduate program years ago and is one of hundreds in the world to complete the highest level of education/training in Pilates. She is certified in pre- and post-natal Pilates, a corrective exercise specialist, a certified injuries and pathologies teacher, and certified in functional fitness. She is a member of PMA, BASI Host Facility, NASM and IDEA Fitness Organization. In addition to her work in Pilates and movement, she serves on the board of directors for the nonprofit SSSA (Sotos Syndrome Support Association) and plays a key role in organizing an annual medical conference. Before transitioning to Pilates, Monique had a successful career as a sommelier — her professional journey began as a restaurant manager in her teenage years, a role that taught her leadership at an early age. Beyond her professional life, Monique enjoys walking, continuous learning, and has a deep passion for salsa and merengue dancing — her ultimate “happy place.” She shares her home with her French bulldog, Mac, and enjoys time with her special needs adult daughter, Anabelle and husband Jeff.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

We are more than Pilates. We are about functional training and lifestyle. Our no BS environment attracts authentic, genuine

people looking for effective fitness. We offer private sessions, semi (two to three people) and group mat-equipment classes, yoga, workshops and events. We have our ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration April 26, 12:30 p.m. Please come!

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

RESULTS. Helping others get out of isolating pain, seeing clients live their best lives, growing stronger, having the most incredible studio family/friends show up to work on themselves.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I was able to plan, execute, create, grow and move my studio space to a new one all within 30 days — four weeks over the holidays — just weeks after I was diagnosed with a DVT in the ER. I am also proud of my clients who work to change their lives.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

Do something you love; don’t waste time. If you’re passionate about something, you’ll not only be committed, but you will also be great at it because you want to dedicate the time to it. Find mentors and learn, never stop learning.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

Clients would laugh at this: I don’t have days off right now. But a great day off would be a spa day or at my beach house in Westport, walking on the beach.

Skyler Anderson

Serenity & Sage

From the dance floor to the delivery room, Skyler Anderson has always been passionate about movement, support and celebration. A native Oregonian and the owner of Serenity and Sage, she brings warmth and expertise to her work as a dedicated doula. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, she began her career as a personal trainer before discovering her true calling in birth support. As a member of the Stumptown Doula Agency, Skyler is committed to guiding families through one of life’s most transformative experiences. When she’s not supporting parents, you can find her enjoying Pilates, cooking, baking or hiking. And if you ever need proof of her dedication and drive, just ask about her competitive dance days — she’s got a whole collection of trophies, ribbons and plaques to prove it!

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

At Serenity and Sage, I provide highquality, individualized care as a labor and postpartum doula. I specialize in postpartum care and postpartum meal prep; it’s a passion of mine to heal new moms with healthy food and a healthy support system. I support birthing moms at their birthplace of choice, whether at a birth center, hospital or at home!

Women in Business

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I love hearing from moms how having a doula made their birth or postpartum experience so much better and watching the benefits of having doula support flow into the babies and their siblings.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

Starting Serenity and Sage during the hardest year. My mom was battling breast cancer, and the economy was on a downturn, so it wasn’t the most logical choice. Ironically, this is how I lead my life, yet I pursued it based on my heart, and I’m really proud of that.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

Just go for it. You have nothing to lose!

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

I start the day with a Pilates class, grab breakfast and coffee with a friend, clean my house, take a bath, and end the day with homemade pasta and a good book!

Q What is at the top of your bucket list?

The Italian Dolomites and Crete, Greece!

Q What do you love most about Camas?

The best coffee, great places to walk and beautiful mountain views!

Debbie Dille

Active Media Publishing

As a business development representative for Active Media Publishing, Debbie Dille helped bring this feature to life! Raised in Prineville, she’s lived in many places, including London, where she earned the final piece of her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. Now married to her husband, Dan Baltus, Debbie has two sons from a previous marriage, Joshua and Jake, both in their 30s, and two granddaughters. She has volunteered with HomePlate Youth Services and enjoys playing piano and singing, attending book club gatherings and hiking — when she can get away.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

I’ve worked as a private contractor for several businesses over the last few years. Before the pandemic, I was the business manager for Pint-Sized Productions, handling event booth sales, prize procurement and client services. During COVID, I began working for Alluvial Beverage and Vertical Wine & Beer (now ECB Selections), selling to restaurants, pubs and retailers. I still do this, in addition to my most recent position as a business development rep for Active Media.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I like working with people, and though I do wish to semi-retire soon to begin traveling with my husband, I would also like to stay busy and active with a profession.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

In the early 2000s, when Trader Publications, a national chain of magazines, suddenly discontinued Metro Parent Magazine, the editor and her husband immediately purchased the office equipment and took control of business operations. I was one of two marketing reps who assumed all of the advertising sales, boosted the total revenue and kept things running without missing a beat. The next month’s issue came out right on schedule, and we displayed more advertising in the pages than we’d had in the six months prior, as our clients were so supportive and excited about the new management.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

I still struggle to focus on daily progress and not obsess about obtaining perfection. Sales is a tough business that can take a toll on inner morale and self-confidence. So, effectively managing one’s time — particularly if working from home — is imperative, and focusing on accomplishing certain daily tasks is more to the point. Success will ultimately follow, even if it takes a little more time.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

Sleeping in until 7 a.m. and then sitting in my hot tub with a mocha, while feeding the neighborhood crows that fly over for a visit. I also like long walks with my husband and scenic drives in wine country.

Eden Wade

Autumn Leaf Books

Eden Wade’s career has been anything but ordinary — at one point, she even dreamed of being a backup dancer for hip-hop artists! Instead, she found her rhythm in entrepreneurship, now owning Autumn Leaf Books while also running a successful talent listing service in Los Angeles for the past 16 years. Originally from Sherman Oaks, California, Eden got her start in the entertainment industry with an internship on a CBS soap opera before diving into business ownership. A true book lover, she’s passionate about reading and building community connections. When she’s not immersed in work, she enjoys Pilates and spending time with friends. She and her husband, Derek, share their home with their son, Landon, and two remarkable senior pups — Monk, a border terrier, and London, a mini Aussie — both an impressive 17 years old.

Q What does your business do? What makes it unique?

Autumn Leaf Books is a cozy, allages general bookstore in the heart of Downtown Camas. We’re very community-minded and host events like monthly book clubs, weekly story times and local author events.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

I absolutely love what I do. Researching books, listening to what makes customers happy and seeing little ones get so excited

to be inside a bookstore fills my bucket full to the brim.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

Receiving heartfelt thanks for bringing the bookstore to the community makes me feel immensely proud.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

My advice to young women is to trust your instinct and listen to it. Don’t allow other opinions or your own negative selftalk to get in your way. Find what it is that makes you genuinely happy and do that.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

My morning would be quiet time with a blanket, coffee and a book, and then I’d spend the day exploring a new town with my boys — my husband and son.

Q What is at the top of your bucket list?

Traveling to the Cotswolds; we’re going in October for my birthday!

Q What do you love most about Camas?

It is absolutely beautiful. The people are so kind, always willing to offer a helping hand (or extra garden goodies!) and genuinely more health-conscious than in L.A.!

Q Hidden gem (person, place, thing) in Camas?

Rebecca Yawman

Vela Bodywork

Rebecca Yawman, RN LMT, has always had a passion for working with her hands — first on classic cars, and now on people. As the owner of Vela Bodywork, she combines her expertise as a registered nurse and licensed massage therapist to provide holistic care for her clients. Rebecca earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon before starting her career in massage therapy and later becoming an RN. She is a proud member of the American Nurses Association and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. I take a unique approach, blending myofascial release, lymphatics, craniosacral therapy and Frequency Specific Microcurrent to create sessions tailored just for you. Every treatment is designed to support deep healing and relaxation, so you leave feeling lighter,

Women in Business

looser and more in tune with your body. This isn’t just bodywork; it’s a reset for your whole system.

Q What keeps you motivated in your career/business?

Growth, learning and the chance to help others heal. Every session deepens my skills and understanding, ensuring the best care for my clients. Beyond bodywork, I love building a community where people feel seen, heard and restored. Seeing clients thrive inspires me to keep evolving and expanding what I offer.

Q What are you most proud of professionally?

I’m most proud of over a decade of Vela Bodywork, helping clients heal and continuing to grow. Pursuing my master’s for Nurse Practitioner and starting an integrative medical clinic with my business partner at Ila Integrative Health are big steps toward offering even more comprehensive care.

Q What is your advice for young women in business?

Small movements add up to big changes. Challenges will come, but everything is doable with persistence and growth. Trust yourself and never underestimate the power of steady progress.

Q How would you describe your perfect day off?

It starts off with no alarm, coffee and a good book — Kurt Vonnegut or Tom Robbins would work. Throw in a massage and a nap, and I’m happy.
