Rien n’est facile pour cette néopaysanne. Pour équilibrer financièrement son exploitation, elle compense par des activités annexes : production de plantes aromatiques et création d’une marque collective pour valoriser la laine locale. Elle organise des visites des prés salés. Travailler sur un site naturel protégé ajoute aux difficultés et aux lourdeurs administratives auxquelles sont confrontés les petits éleveurs.

At the age of 30, she took a radical new career direction and started to produce organic lamb for a handful of high-end restauranteurs and butchers. Nothing came easily to this novice farmer. To make her business financially viable, she diversified by cultivating aromatic plants, creating a collective brand to showcase local wool, and organising tours of her salt meadows. Working within a protected natural area adds to the bureaucracy that small farming concerns have to contend with, but this free-spirited woman and president of the Normandy Sheep Association has stuck to her vocation despite all the obstacles. Her story is that of a young rebel shepherdess who has overcome adversity to campaign for a brighter future. I M
