1938- A Diocesan youth organization, called “The Sons and Daughters of the Eastern Church,” established. It was later named the “A.C.R.Y.—American Carpatho-Russian Youth.” A supplement magazine of the organization began publication, with Very Rev. Joseph Mihaly, Editor.
1890Our people from the Carpathian Mountain region of Europe begin immigrating to the United States and settling in the coal-mining and industrial centers. They soon organized Greek Catholic parishes to preserve their faith.
1939- First National Convention of the A.C.R.Y. convened in Johnstown, PA, October 6-8, attracting young people from parishes across the country. Church services, lectures, business and social events were on the agenda.
1934- Dissension in the Greek Catholic Church in America as latinizations of the rites, customs and traditions of the Eastern Church are promulgated.
1940- The Diocesan Seminary opens at facilities of St. Nicholas Church, New York, NY. The seminary later relocated to Nicholson, PA, and Bridgeport, CT, until its permanent home in Johnstown, 1936- Greek Catholic Priests gather in PA.
