In a little house in the woods lived a young girl and her mother. Everyone called the child Little Red Riding Hood because of the red hooded cloak she always wore.

One day
her
mother said, “Little Red Riding Hood, your grandmother is ill.”

It was a beautiful sunny day—the birds were singing and the bunny rabbits were playing hideandseek.

They beckoned Little Red Riding Hood to chase them making her quickly forget her mother’s warning as she ran through the trees after them.
“I’m going to visit my grandmother who lives in a cottage on the other side of the forest,” Little Red Riding Hood replied.

The trickster quickly donned the old lady’s nightgown, nightcap and glasses then jumped into her bed and waited for Little Red Riding Hood to arrive.

When Little Red Riding Hood reached the cottage and went over to her grandmother’s bed, she received a big surprise!
“Oh Grandma, what big eyes you have!” she exclaimed.
“All the better to see you with, my dear,” the wolf replied.

“Oh Grandma, what a big mouth you have!” “ALL THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH, MY DEAR!”

The wolf bounded out of bed and swallowed up Little Red Riding Hood as well.

Luckily, a woodcutter was passing the house and heard the wolf snoring very loudly.

Little Red Riding Hood hugged her grandmother and promised her that she would never disobey her mother again.
