Maurice Chevalier, Paramount Pictures, 1929
Wearing bow ties and matching hats, Chevalier and Puzzums pose together in the year the French actor appeared in his first Hollywood movie. Puzzums worked freelance most of the time and in his heyday earned $250 a week. Found abandoned as a kitten, he was used widely by the producer Mack Sennet in his comedies and could famously cross his eyes on command. Puzzums died from complications caused by an ulcerated tooth in August 1934, aged eight, and is buried in the Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park Photograph by Orville Logan Snider
