Professor: Keith DubasConcept Statement:
The use of art to promote the transmission, communication, and the expansion of culture
Every space promotes and stimulates creativity. The Arts Library promotes public art which reflects a community’s cultural identity. For this project, we were given the task to create a library for the arts. This library included visual studios, sculpture studios, a digital arts space, music rooms, a dance studio, and a discretionary space. In relation to my concept, my goal was to promote the arts on the exterior of the building as well as the interior of the building.

Professor: Molly MacklinThis exercise required us to find and recreate an existing pavilion using the Rhino software. I chose Crescent House by Andrew Burns. I was really intrigued by the simplicity of the pavilion and the materials that were used. This project was one of the first I created using the Rhino software.

Professor: Zach PorterThe creation of food is one that connects cultures. How one prepares, eats, and makes food can be used as a way to preserve a cultural identity. During this project we were given the task to design an outdoor kitchen that shapes the way one could share a meal. The materiality focus was predetermined by our precedent fragments from our previous project. The material I primarily used was concrete. The outdoor “Food Folly” is a way to share food and culture within a public space.

The goal of this project was to create a series of five forms derived from black and white photos taken of the Sheldon Art Gallery. We then created physical models of the five forms to highlight their interior structures. This was done to show the importance of form.
