Donor Impact Report

Reporting on the 2024/2025 Fiscal Year

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Dear Aberdeen Hall Community,

It is an honour to step into the role of Board Chair. Aberdeen Hall has been home to my family for eight years, and as a parent with two children in the Middle School, I value the work done here every day. As a long-time Board member, I’ve been privileged to see our community’s generosity in action.

This Donor Impact Report directly reflects your commitment to our students and the future of this school. It is a shared vision, and one my family and I are proud to support.

Last year, your contributions through the Annual Fund made a significant difference across every division and focus area, and you will see that impact detailed within the pages of this publication.

From enhancing our Early Learning environment to expanding access through Financial Assistance, your support has been essential to our operations.

Every contribution, regardless of size, is a powerful investment in our students’ potential.

We are committed to this school, and we share your pride in the tangible progress detailed in the following pages.

Thank you for your trust and partnership.

Sincerely,

[Parent of Sloane Grade 8, and Eli, Grade 6]

EXCITED TO GROW TOGETHER

Over the past few weeks, as we’ve settled into our roles as Associate Directors of Development, we have felt a deep sense of gratitude for the community that surrounds this school. The joyful footsteps echoing in the hallways, the laughter of children playing outside, and the warm greetings from parents, faculty, and staff have made us feel right at home. It is clear that Aberdeen Hall is more than just a school – it’s a community rooted in kindness, generosity, and a shared commitment to the success of our students.

As we reflect on the past 20 years, we are reminded that this remarkable place was built on the vision and generosity of families before who believed in creating a strong, vibrant school. Each gift of time, talent, and support has shaped Aberdeen Hall into the inspiring place of learning and excellence it is today. Standing amidst the beauty of the Okanagan, we feel both honoured and humbled to join you in carrying this vision forward.

The collective strength of our community fuels the success and growth of our school, providing our students with exceptional opportunities to thrive and grow. The Annual Fund continues this legacy. It sustains opportunities that enrich our students’ education, whether through academics, athletics, the arts, financial aid, or innovative programming.

Thanks to your generous support, we’ve been able to create inspiring spaces, and equip them with outstanding educators, resources, and technology that elevate our children’s learning. Your contributions not only enhance our facilities but also create a lasting impact on the culture and spirit of our school. Together, we can take pride in the community we’ve built and continue to nurture, as it helps shape the bright futures of our students.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the opportunities that await our students and the continued growth of this extraordinary community. The Annual Fund will remain central in ensuring those opportunities continue to flourish, enriching every aspect of student life. We look forward to connecting with all families in the months ahead. Please don’t hesitate to stop by our

office – we would love to welcome you for coffee or tea, to share stories, reflect on what makes this school so special, and dream together about the future.

With heartfelt thanks and warmest regards,

INTRODUCING YOUR ADVANCEMENT TEAM

At Aberdeen Hall, we define ‘Advancement’ as the act of getting ahead, progressing, and moving our shared vision forward. This is the vital work carried out by our Advancement Team, who are focused on everything from admissions and communications to community development and fundraising. This year, we are thrilled to have welcomed several new faces to the team and are excited to be growing in this way. They are the driving force behind so much of our school’s progress, and I am incredibly proud of the work they do for our community.

IT TAKES A COMMUNITY TO RAISE A SCHOOL

In just 20 years, Aberdeen Hall has grown from a small school of 70 students in rented facilities to a thriving community of more than 700 learners on a stunning, purpose-built 44-acre campus. Every step of that journey has been made possible by the generosity and dedication of our community – grandparents, employees, and friends who have given their time, talents, and resources. From the early days when families painted walls and drove buses, to the philanthropic support that brought our newest addition, the Athletics and Wellness Centre, to life. Aberdeen Hall has always been built by us and those who came before us.

A YEAR OF IMPACT: HOW YOUR GENEROSITY IS

SHAPING ABERDEEN HALL

Every gift to the Annual Fund is a direct investment in our students, our faculty, and the future of our school. This year, your collective generosity has created extraordinary opportunities and enhanced the daily experience of every child on campus. We are thrilled to share the tangible impact your contributions have made in four key areas.

Activating Health and Teamwork: The Athletics & Wellness Centre

Our spectacular new Athletics and Wellness Centre is now fully alive with activity, thanks to your support. A beautiful facility is only as good as the equipment within it, and your annual fund donations provided the essential finishing touches. From brand new basketball and volleyball standards to a full complement of balls, mats, and other core equipment, the centre is now fully outfitted for practices, games, and physical education classes.

Opening Doors and Building Community: Financial Assistance

Thanks to your generosity, our Financial Assistance program continues to remove financial barriers for deserving students and their families. This year, we provided meaningful tuition relief to approximately 10% of our student body.

Your support diversifies our classrooms, enriches our community with a wide range of perspectives, and ensures that a truly exceptional education is within reach for talented students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.

Thanks to you, we have completed a significant expansion of our Preschool facilities and unveiled a brand new playground. This beautiful outdoor space is equipped with best-in-class Montessori play structures, purposefully designed to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and encourage collaborative play.

Innovating for the Future: The Design Studio

Our state-of-the-art Design Studio opened it’s doors in 2024, and thanks to you, it is now fully equipped for innovation. Much like with the Athletics & Wellness Centre, your Annual Fund donations provided the crucial finishing touches to furnish this incredible new space.

Your investment has provided specific, high-impact resources including six Middle School Vex IQ Competition Kits, a professional-grade Laser Cutter, and a powerful Mac Studio for advanced design work. With these tools, students are bringing their ideas to life, collaborating on complex challenges, and learning with industry-standard technology.

We invite you to help us build a lasting legacy by purchasing a personalized bleacher seat for a gift of $2,000.

YOUR STORIES

This past year, the generous support of our families has created new opportunities and lasting experiences that continue to enrich our school community and the learning of our students.

The Clipperton Playground

With heartfelt appreciation, we thank the Clipperton Family for their generous support in bringing the Clipperton Playground to life for our youngest students. Their gift enriches the early learning experience by providing a joyful and engaging space where curiosity, creativity, and discovery can grow. Through their generosity, the Clipperton Family has created a lasting foundation for learning and play that will benefit our students for years to come.

The Montague Alves Family Student Life Office

We extend our sincere thanks to the Montague Alves Family for their generous support of Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School. In recognition of their gift, the Student Life Office is now named The Montague Alves Family Student Life Office; a space that plays a vital role in fostering student growth, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging within our community. Their support strengthens our entire school community and helps ensure every student has the opportunity to grow both in and beyond the classroom.

The Zacharias Family University Guidance Office

We are deeply grateful to the Zacharias Family for their generous support of Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School. The Zacharias Family University Guidance Office serves as a dedicated space for Senior School students to explore post-secondary pathways and prepare with confidence for the next chapter of their academic and professional journeys.

The Harding Family Junior School Buddy Bench

We are grateful to the Harding family for their generous gift that made the new Buddy Bench in our Junior School possible. Their support helps create a space where students can connect, make friends, and feel part of our community. The Buddy Bench gives our younger learners a safe and inviting place for inclusion and belonging, a spot where every student can find a friend.

THE GUILD’S IMPACT: FUNDING STUDENT AND FACULTY REQUESTS

The Aberdeen Hall Parent Guild embodies the spirit of volunteerism, leadership, and collaboration, bringing together a diverse group of skilled professionals who generously contribute their time, expertise, and resources to Aberdeen Hall. Their innovative ideas and passion for fostering community engagement make them an integral part of our school’s success and vibrancy.

Last year alone, the Parent Guild proudly funded the following initiatives:

• Balance Beams Stepping Stones

• Junior School Branded Entrance Rug

• Vex 123

• CoDrones Edu

• Camtasia (All-In-One Screen Recorder and Video Editor)

• Sled Turf for the top floor of the AWC

Thank you to every Parent Guild member for your tireless dedication to our school community.

You may not be aware that the funds raised through Parent Guild efforts - like the bake sale, the annual Golf Tournament, and other events - go directly back to support requests from our students and teachers! Do the Grade 3 class want a Gaga Ball pit? The Guild delivers! Do our Grade 12 students need support to attend a leadership conference in Vancouver? The Guild delivers! The Parent Guild’s work directly enhances the daily experience at Aberdeen Hall.

CELEBRATING GENEROSITY: GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and the spirit of giving. At Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School, it is a special day when our community, students, families, faculty, and friends, come together to support the school’s vision and programs. Gifts made on this day help enhance learning opportunities, enrich student experiences, and strengthen the vibrant culture of our school. Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder that together, we can make a meaningful and lasting impact.

This past year, the Aberdeen Hall community came together to celebrate in true Gryphon fashion. Students brought incredible energy to the day, waving signs and dancing alongside Gryph, while the Business Office and Advancement teams hosted “Donation Stations” and shared custom Aberdeen Hall cookies. The response was a tremendous display of community spirit, and the team at Aberdeen Hall could not be more proud of the generosity shown on this special day!

PARTYING WITH A PURPOSE

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School’s 20th Anniversary Gala a truly wonderful evening. Held this past May at the Revelry Food + Music Hub, the event was a heartwarming tribute to two decades of growth, community, and commitment to our students. Seeing our families, alumni, staff, and friends come together truly reflected the remarkable spirit of our school. Thanks to the exceptional generosity and enthusiasm of our community, this was one of the most successful Galas in our history, directly supporting initiatives that enhance our students’ learning experiences and further strengthening the programs that make Aberdeen Hall exceptional. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this milestone event such a memorable success and for continuing to invest in the bright future of our school.

THANK YOU

A special thank you to Kevin & Erinn Knight for their inspiring donation of $150,000, which sparked further generosity throughout the evening.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Kevin & Tracey Carson for their meaningful $75,000 donation contributing to the extraordinary fundraising success of the event.
