Our Commitment to Owners & Trainers

£1.58M
Total Prize Money
35% Total Prize Money above BHA minimum value
£225k Sky Bet Sunday Series
£2k+ all races over BHA minimum value
With the new season getting underway at Hamilton Park on Sunday 5 May, we are pleased to be able to share our plans for prize money and our commitment to Owners, Trainers and racing staff for the 2024 season.
Despite the challenges presented by reduced industry funding to support the Premierisation trial, we are striving to maintain the quality of the race programme on offer here at Hamilton Park with total prize money set to reach £1.58M. This year’s programme continues to see investment in prize money at all levels, with every fixture due to be run for at least 25% above BHA minimum values, rising to 81% for our opening fixture.
We will once again break new ground with our richest raceday ever, with the return of the Sky Bet Sunday Series fixture which this year moves to Sunday 2 June. This fixture is part of the industry Premierisation trial and will feature total prize money of £225,000 including a new Class 2 handicap worth £75,000, making it our second richest race ever behind the historic Lanark Silver Bell Heritage Handicap.
We are delighted to team up with Darley, EBF and the BHA for the renewal of two high-value Class 2 development races this summer, each worth £40,000, whilst all races will continue to be run for at least £2,000 above the new minimum values* set by the BHA, with no race to be run for less than £7,000. As you may be aware, Hamilton Park is operated by a Trust and as such all profits are reinvested back into the business for the good of racing and to ensure racing continues at Hamilton Park into the future. We do not distribute profits to shareholders, instead we invest in prize money and facilities to make Hamilton Park a place worth visiting, which was demonstrated when we were named RCA/ROA Owners Racecourse of the Year for 2023, an accolade that myself, Fiona and the team are incredibly proud to receive.

It was also wonderful to gain such positive feedback during 2023 on the improvements that we made to our Owners and Trainers facilities along with the new dining offer which was so well received. For 2024 we will be implementing further improvements to our facilities as well as enhancing the recognition for our champion Owner, Trainer and Jockey and those Owners who place a significant number of runners across the season.
The whole team are fully committed to delivering the very best experience possible for all of our visiting Owners and Trainers and we look forward to welcoming you and your runners to Hamilton Park this summer.
Please note these values may change subject to funding. *Excluding Heritage Handicaps and Industry Premier Fixtures

Sky Bet Sunday Series to become Hamilton Park’s richest ever fixture worth £225k.
With a £225,000 prize fund, our Sky Bet Sunday Series Raceday returns on Sunday 2 June and will become the richest fixture ever staged at Hamilton Park. This is an Industry Premier Fixture and will be broadcast live on STV and ITV Racing, featuring a card full of high-value races that are sure to attract strong, competitive fields.
Every raceday will be run for at least 25% above BHA minimum values, rising to 81%!
Hamilton Park are committed to continued investment into prize money and as such we continually strive to exceed minimum values set by the BHA. The 2024 race programme will be run in excess of 36% above the required minimum values, with individual fixtures being run for at least 25% above those levels. This rises to 81% for our opening fixture on Sunday 5 May, while some Class 2 races in the programme are being run at more than 100% above the required prize money level.
Class 2 programme expanded with £75k Sky Bet Handicap plus Darley/EBF development races.
Our Class 2 races are the highlights of our race programme with the new Class 2 Sky Bet Handicap on Sunday 2 June set to become our second richest race ever, worth £75,000. We are delighted to once again partner with Darley, EBF and the BHA for the renewal of two, high-value Class 2 development races worth £40,000, both of which produced close finishes last year.
Enhanced recognition for Owners with multiple runners and seasonal Champions.
The race to become Champion Owner at Hamilton Park is hotly contested each year, with Jimmy Long retaining his title for 2023. To recognise this achievement, Jimmy’s colours will be flown above the grandstand for the coming season and, along with our Champion Trainer Jim Goldie and Champion Jockey Andrew Mullen, he will also enjoy a designated parking space for each fixture.
New for 2024, Owners who average a runner or more at each fixture across the season will receive a complimentary membership to Hamilton Park for the following season, in recognition of their support. This exclusive annual badge will give access for two to any Hamilton Park fixture, regardless of whether they have a runner that day.

We’re closer than you think!
As the second-most northernly flat racecourse in the UK, it can perhaps feel like a visit to Hamilton Park requires more than a day trip. However, with an accessible location just off the M74 (adjoins the M6) and under an hour to either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport, Hamilton Park is closer than you might think.
