The clear guidance and mentoring from past leaders and mentors are commendable. AAATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club has the privilege of membership diversity covering Point Pedro to Head of Dondra. AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club functioning as an online club and setting up clear examples for other online Toastmasters Clubs Also, collaboration through diversity is the secret of AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club

Maintaining quality club meetings plays a major role in Toastmasters educational program. AATSL Toastmasters Club always welcomes different Toastmasters from across the globe to conduct guest sessions and this is another plus point that this club continuously practices. Themed meetings and joint club meetings always give enthusiasm to all club members of AATSL Toastmasters Club This quality education program helps to produce Area level 1st runner-up and Division C Finalist from Table Topics Contest 2024. I would like to congratulate the AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club Quiz Team which emerged as the 2nd runners up in the Quiz Competition organized by the Program Quality Team of District 82.

Toastmasters program also provides opportunities of leadership throughout the journey I’m happy that members of AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club grab the opportunities provided to them by playing various roles in Area, Division and District level. This provides an opportunity to expand your network and it will help you in your Toastmasters journey as well as in your professional journey. This club leads by example to all clubs even though being an online club and actively participates in every possible event

We completed nine valuable months full of memories, experiences, love, sharing, caring and helping each other. Together visiting AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club during Christmas was a delightful experience The warmth of the president and members was palpable from the moment I arrived.

Their welcoming spirit infused the atmosphere with holiday cheer, creating a sense of camaraderie and belonging

As a visiting Toastmaster, I felt embraced by their hospitality and enthusiasm for the season. The festive decorations and joyful conversations added to the ambiance, making it a memorable occasion as I had to evaluate TM Hemantha s project which was one of the memorable speeches

September2022IjoinedtheAATSLEmerging Toastmasters Club, a decision that strongly changed my approach to public speaking and communication. I was really scared of speaking in ordinance.Thisturnedouttobeoneofthebiggest changesinmylife.

Myjourneybeganwithalotoffear Onmyveryfirst day at the club, unexpectedly I was spotlight for a Table Topic session an impromptu speech challenge that I had not volunteered. The Table Topics Master gave me a topic that I did not feel comfortablewith,soIaskedforadifferentone He gavemeanothertopic,butIhadahardtimefinding the right words. I managed to say a little bit but could not fill the whole time. I had shy to face evaluation, but to my surprise, the feedback was constructive and encouraging The evaluator highlighted my strengths and gently suggested areasforimprovement.Thiswasmyfirstindication intohowsupportiveandpositiveToastmastersis.

Encouraged by this initial experience, I committed to attending club meetings regularly I was able to stop fearing the impromptu speech challenges. Afterward, I chose not to ask for a change of topic; rather,Icommittedtodoingmybest.Asaresult,my confidence increased with each session I was not just a regular attendee anymore I actively took partineveryrole,exceptforevaluatingspeeches.

IwashonoredwiththeBestPreparedSpeechaward for my first formal speech and received the Best RolePlayerawardinmyfirstroleasToastmasterof the Day (TMOD), during a meeting themed of the New Year. These were not just tokens of recognition;theyshowedhowmuchIhavegrownin theclub.

Reflectingonmyjourney,Icanproudlysaythatmy communication skills have improved significantly Toastmastershasproventobeavaluableplatform for personal and professional development. This is the story of how a stuttering child transformed into a confident speaker on a globalstage.

My journey began with sheer terror. Training colleagues, a core part of my job, became an insurmountable obstacle. Yet, within this challenge,anopportunityarose.Ihonedmycraft, practicing relentlessly, focusing on breathing, clarity,andslow,deliberatespeech.

Thencamethemagicingredient:Toastmasters, a supportive community that became my training ground Here, I found encouragement and a safe space to experiment. Gradually, confidence blossomed. Stuttering lessened, replaced by the joy of connection and clear communication.

Life Lesson in a Toastmaster Speech

Atale that began with necessity and unfolded into opportunity. It all started with the basic human need for sustenance, for a livelihood Armed with a plethora of qualifications in accounting, I embarked on the quest for employment. The corridors of interviews and discussions led me to a pivotal moment: the role of an Accountant within an esteemed organization.

The news of my promotion arrived like a sudden gust of wind, barely two weeks into my new job. Thetopechelonsofmanagementhadrecognized my potential, and I stood at the precipice of a decision Should I ascend further, donning the mantle of a manager? The prospect was both exhilaratinganddaunting apathladenwithrisk andresponsibility.

AsIweighedthescalesofopportunity,Ireflected on the transformative power of the Toastmasters community. Beyond the confines of spreadsheets and ledgers, I envisioned a space where selfimprovementblossomed.AToastmaster’sstageis more than a platform; it is a crucible for growth. Here, one hones the art of balanced work life, dons multiple hats, and masters the delicate dance of time management and persuasive presentation.

And so, I accepted the challenge. As a manager inthefinancedivision,Ifoundmyselfimmersed in a whirlwind of meetings and presentations Whetheraddressingcolleagues,stakeholders,or even the highest-ranking officials, I became the face of financial strategy. Each interaction was an opportunity an invitation to influence, inspire,andsteertheshiptowardsuccess.

In this journey, I discovered that leadership is not merely about numbers and spreadsheets. It is about representing the organization, navigatingunchartedwaters,andembracingthe weight of responsibility. The Toastmaster’s lessons eloquence, poise, and adaptability becamemycompass.

Practicing your speeches is incredibly important for becoming a good speaker, especially in Toastmasters Clubs where they really focus on it When you practice before givingyourspeech,youarenotonlyimproving within Toastmasters, but you are also gaining skills that can benefit you in your professional andotherareasofyourlife.

Firstly, practicing enhance your confidence. When you know your speech really well, you feel less nervous and can speak with more certainty. Also, practicing helps you use body language effectively, which makes your messagemorepersuasive.

Practicing also helps you overcome the fear of public speaking. Many people find it scary, but the more you practice, the easier it becomes You start feeling more at ease in front of an audience

Before I joined Toastmasters, I found joy in old movies and music. However, everything changedin2019whenIenrolledattheNational Institute of Business Management (NIBM) and met DTM Buddhima Subasinghe. She introducedmetotheNIBMGavelClub,opening thedoortoanewworldofpossibilities.In2020, she further expanded my horizons by introducing me to the Serendib Toastmasters Club. Despite my excitement, my journey at SerendibwascutshortwhenIwasselectedfor aprobationatHSBCElectronicDataProcessing Lanka(PVT)Ltd.

However,thissetbackdidn'tdeterme.Infact,it was the beginning of a major breakthrough in my Toastmasters journey. Thanks to DTM ArshadNizam,theCharterPresidentofCentral ColomboToastmastersClub,Ifoundmywayto the AATSL Emerging Toastmasters Club. Starting as the Sergeant-at-Arms (Shadow), I gradually progressed to become the Sergeantat-Arms and eventually assumed the role of ClubSecretary.

AsClubSecretary,Isoughtwaystoenhancemy responsibilities and streamline processes. Leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence toolslikeChatGPT,Irevolutionizedourmeeting minutes generation process. This allowed me to publish meeting minutes within an astonishinglyshortspanof2to3days,marking a significant improvement in our club's efficiency.
