BEACH HOUSE HILLSIDE GALLERY HILSIDE RETREAT Winter 2022 Winter 2022 Spring 2022 RESUME

Resume

Hello, my name is Andrea Cordero, and I am looking for an internship to gain experience on how architects work in the industry while learning new design skills and broadening my knowledge. Mt. Sac has taught me how to collaborate with people to have successful projects and how to meet demanding deadlines while still being attentive to the small details. The fruits of my projects have allowed me to be a diligent architect both in a group setting and individually. Although I do not have expirence working at an architure firm I can assure you that I am ready to work and be committed to perform to my fullest potential. Having this internship position would expose me to the work life of architecture, which is detrimental to my growth as a student.

BEACH HOUSE

Beach House is based on an adaptation to create a new design with new program. The site is a beach front lot located at Balboa Peninsula Point, on the end of I Street, facing the Pacific Ocean. A beach house is to be derrived from an adaptation approved in class. The house must lie within builiding limits and must contain all the program demmend necessary. For this specific project I took a painting by Helen Lundeberg and used my favorite moments to create the a section. From the section I fit my program and let the building devlop its self.

HILLSIDE GALLERY

This project uses planes to create programatic space. These planes divide up programs with privacy and a view in mind. The project began by first creating a planar composition on the landscape from top view, then analyzing the landscape and creating a three dimensional planar composition on top of it. These compositions were arranged in a way which allowed for each plane to be seen as independent from one another or “transparent.” Through iterations I merged my planar components and decided to subtract them out instead. As for the ground this project uses a lot of cut and fill so that the lanscape dicates the flow of the space. The limited use of walls is intentional so that building feels like an open field with no barriers.

HILLSIDE RETREAT

This project was to create a vacation home in the Napa Valley for three friends. The building had to show exact repition with the bedrooms and had to block off what the 'client' considered bad views. For this project my intention with the living area was to seperate it from the office area. The transitional space between the areas is connected with a hallway that is open to the outside. The idea was to create a nice journey so that work does not feel like home. A library and office are in the work area. As for the living area, each bedroom has their own bathroom and deck to the peferred views. A living room and kitchen with dinning space greet the entrance of this home.
