Pediatric Healthcare Center

October 2024

Area: 413m²

The Pediatric Healthcare Center is crafted to immerse children in a memorable, engaging experience from the moment they step inside until they leave. Drawing inspiration from Jordan’s rich landscape, the design incorporates rock installations and winding pathways that mirror the region’s valleys, grounding the space in a sense of familiarity and comfort. The warmth of natural wood materials soothes, while vibrant installations and playful lighting provide contrast—each color guiding children to different clinics. At the entrance, two towering columns create a bold visual anchor, serving as the heart around which the entire design revolves. Surrounding these columns are pod-like structures, evoking the excitement of exploration and discovery, as if offering hidden shelters in the landscape. By merging nature’s elements with a sense of adventure, the architecture turns healthcare into more than a visit—it becomes an interactive, comforting journey for children.

Pods

The pods are structurally supported by two central columns, providing both stability and an open design that interacts with the space around them. Openings are thoughtfully positioned toward the seating area, ensuring parents can easily observe their children while they play. A key visual feature is the smiley-face opening on the top pod, which creates a playful and welcoming experience for visitors as they enter. Inside, the pods are spacious, offering different experiences for children, enhancing their sense of exploration and engagement.

Pharmacy + Store

Near the exit, a 30x30 cm grid structure connects the pharmacy with a small retail shop, maintaining spatial continuity. Mushroom-like forms emerge organically from the grid, suspended above. These sculptural elements extend into the space, visible from the pods, offering children a playful visual connection. Spherical lights integrated into the mushroom heads provide soft, ambient lighting, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere throughout.

Waiting Area

The seating area is shaped by a topographic layered design, with each layer representing a distinct color, forming a vibrant gradient of colors. This sculptural form wraps around one of the columns, serving as both playful and structural cover. The seating flows outward, where the layered volumes connect two masses, forming an arch that frames the interior. Integrated lighting strips emerge from the upper layers, casting a dynamic glow that enhances the architectural rhythm, creating a visually cohesive and inviting space.

Interactive Lighting

brings the space to life, transforming the walls into dynamic features. Two wall sections are embedded with small, star-like lights that twinkle softly, creating a celestial ambiance. As people move through the space, these lights respond, creating an engaging, ever-changing environment that mirrors the flow of activity.

Art and Spray Paint

From a young age, I was drawn to art, especially graffiti. I honed my spraypainting skills over the years, eventually becoming part of a renowned street art festival in Amman, which became a turning point for me. Working with different styles and clients, I began offering my work as a service. Later, my time in Germany expanded my perspective, pushing me to elevate my craft. Combining my background in architecture and perspective drawing, I moved into creating 3D art pieces that tell stories in abstract forms, requiring precision and mastery in spray-painting. Through experimentation, I refined my technique further.

Complementary Artwork

Creating a piece of street art within a villa allowed me to blend modernist elements with the surrounding architecture in a unique and compelling way. I focused on crafting an illusion of geometric shapes hovering in the air, seamlessly integrating with the villa’s sleek lines and contemporary design. By studying how light interacts with the villa’s surfaces, I strategically placed the artwork to maximize the three-dimensional effect, using a palette that complemented the interior while standing out vividly. The reflective glass behind the artwork played a crucial role, distorting and mirroring the shapes to create a dynamic, ever-changing visual experience. This interaction with light and perspective transforms the piece into a living artwork that evolves throughout the day, harmonizing with the villa’s aesthetic and enhancing its modernist charm. The final result is not just a decoration but an engaging, integrated part of the environment that offers a unique and immersive experience for viewers.

RedBull Doodle Art Finalist

In 2023, Red Bull launched their art challenge in which I participated as one of 650 artists. I am proud to have made it to the finals alongside 15 other skilled individuals. My submission was a doodle showcasing the prevalence of the golden ratio sequence in our surroundings. The competition was international, and I also incorporated the character of Red Bull modified with the chin of Abu Mahjoob, a renowned comic artist from Jordan, along with other symbols of Jordan.
