P R O JEC T SUMM ARY From 2016–2020, the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development invested $4,436,677 in Crockett County infrastructure. The following pages provide an overview of existing utility conditions throughout the region.

This document creates a clear understanding of what resources exist to support the recruitment of industry to the area by concisely mapping out infrastructure systems and available capacities.

In addition, this data can be used to identify potential pitfalls and opportunities to make Crockett County a more favorable environment for development in the next decade.

R EGION AL L OCAT ION M AP— SE W ER Ideal conditions for development largely depend on the size and type of industry being recruited. Wastewater collection and treatment systems throughout the county have good general available capacity; however, industries using a large amount of process water need greater capacity than what the cities of Friendship, Maury City, and Alamo are currently equipped to handle.

The largest wastewater treatment facility in the county is located in the City of Bells, which has upgraded its system with an ample amount of capacity for a specific industry that utilizes a greater amount of process water. Note that 95% of the total treatment capacity in Bells is reserved for that industry and is not to be considered as usable for future development.

Wastewater systems in the county can service “lighter” industry, or can be circumvented by pre-treating wastewater at the site or a septic tank on-site.

R EGION AL L OCAT ION M AP— WAT ER Water needs are largely defined based on the size and type of industry being located. Crockett County’s water treatment and distribution utilities are far-reaching and have generally good capacity — compared its sewer utilities, there is significantly greater access to existing lines and treatment plants across the county.

West Tennessee has generally been recognized for high-quality water (suitable for industrial process use) due to its source at the Memphis Sands Aquifer.

R EGION AL L OCAT ION M AP— G A S Natural gas utilities are generally accessible throughout the county. As the following exhibit indicates, gas lines exist along most major thoroughfares in Crockett County, which puts them in reasonable reach of most potential industrial sites located along the Hwy. 412 corridor.

In addition, natural gas is networked all across the county; supply is readily available utilizing transmission lines in and between all municipalities. Areas with an intersection of several separate lines may have a more robust gas supply available.

R EGION AL L OCAT ION M AP— ELEC T R IC The majority of Crockett County’s electrical service is provided by Gibson Electric Memberhip Corporation, in conjunction with the Tennessee Valley Authority. A small section of northwestern Crockett County is serviced by Forked Deer Electric Cooperative, but this coverage area only includes residential properties.

Three substations (Maury City, Alamo, and Bells) offer electric service via 69kV transmission lines that originate from the TVA substation on the north side of Alamo. That substation appears to be connected to a regional 161kV transmission line that spans the county.

N O T E S + R EC OMMENDAT IONS Recommendation: It is recommended that the client, utilizing the content of this document, identify specific sites as marketable for potential industrial development. These sites should be more closely analyzed, to include in-depth masterplanning, due diligence, and specific infrastructure improvement recommendations based on existing utilities (included in this report). It is recommended that the client pursue SDG (Site Development Grant) or TVA Investprep grant funding to perform these studies.

Recommendation: For the continuity of ongoing mapping efforts and to ensure that the information contained in this document is accurate and up-to-date, it is recommended that Crockett County ask for relevant GIS data (or .shp files) of all additions or modifications made to utility systems in the future.
