Bangladesh is a country located on the delta of three major river systems. Being in south Asia, Bangladesh’s climate is heavily influenced by the monsoon season from May to September. The Bengal Delta is made up of very low flat terrain leaving almost the entire country situated below sea level. During these seasonal months, large amounts of flooding leave hundreds of thousands of people displaced. When floods occur not only are victims fighting for survival but they are faced with trauma and emotional distress from the loss of their property due to rapid changes in their environment. Additionally, the floods bring in waterborne diseases that pose a threat to the surviving communities. There is a need for disaster relief housing for multigenerational households forced to flee their homes due to severe flooding.
