Growing up, I wasn’t sure about going to college until my senior year, when Professor Gunder gave a presentation at my high school that changed everything. He told us how UNOH gives students real-world experiences, not just classroom lectures. As a sports management major, UNOH students have worked at the Final Four, the NFL Draft, and even the Super Bowl! My first thought was, “Wait, I actually have a chance to work at the Super Bowl?” Sure enough, I went to Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, the NFL Draft in Detroit, and the NFL Draft in Green Bay. These experiences gave me a deeper understanding of how major events operate, and I made connections with professionals in the field while learning how they succeeded in sports marketing.
REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES PAIRED WITH EXPERT PROFESSORS IN EVERY PROGRAM. UNOH has been turning out graduates for more than 100 years educating students from all 50 states and more than 81 countries. It’s very important to get involved. I came down here knowing no one, so getting involved in all the different clubs, going to the Racer Station events, and just talking to people made it possible for me to have a good college experience. Plus with small classes you get to know your instructors and professors really well. A lot of them have industry experience so they’ll teach you what the textbooks say, but then they explain how it works in the real world and how you can apply those concepts to your career after graduation. I feel like I’ve matured. I feel like I’ve come to realize who I am, who I want to be, who I need to be, and how I can affect other people’s lives. I’ve been blessed to be able to lead a Bible study on campus, and through every experience I’ve had here and everybody I’ve talked to, I feel like I am a better person. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.
