rom new businesses to owners moving, the West Valley is offering more opportunities for residents. A pool company is coming to Goodyear, and a locally owned independent bookstore is opening its doors in October. Business Briefcase has all that and more below.

Monster Pool Company Location: 14190 W. Van Buren, Suite A102, Goodyear Monster Pool Company, operating in Arizona since 2003, is opening its new doors in Goodyear. Its previous location, also in Goodyear, was its home for the past 10 years.

The company offers a range of services from building and designing pools to landscaping, repairing and servicing.

It offers free consultation services to anyone interested in getting a quote.

The new store’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday beginning Oct. 1. At the store, customers can find pool parts and chemicals. It also offers pool water testing through its spin lab at no charge.

Edge and career expo coming to Avondale

A

vondale Local Edge and Career Connectors will host an in-person career expo to support local Avondale businesses with its 2022-23 hiring needs.

This career expo will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Avondale Resource Center, 995 E. Riley Drive, Avondale. This event is free to both employers and job candidates.

Job candidates will meet and network with top employers from multiple industries located in Avondale hiring for thousands of open positions. Candidates have an opportunity to explore a variety of positions from entry-level to executive. The career expo will include high school juniors and seniors in attendance, to discuss job openings, internships, apprenticeships and future

career pathway opportunities.

“It is an exciting time for those entering or re-entering the workforce, looking for a new opportunity, or considering a career change,” said Ken Chapa, Avondale’s economic and tourism director.

“Avondale businesses are offering quality entry-level to advanced positions, and we encourage our local talent to live, work and grow right here in the Southwest Valley.”

This is the third in a series of career expos that will be hosted by Avondale Local EDGE in the coming months.

Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, the city will support growing industries such as health care, information technology, manufacturing and logistics by matching qualified job candidates with local open positions.

Goodyear business leader earns top prize

oab Padilla, store manager at Fry’s Food Stores in Buckeye, has been recognized as one of 2022’s “GenNext” recipients by Progressive Grocer magazine, a national food retailer publication.

Padilla, a Goodyear resident, is one of two Fry’s leaders locally to receive the national award recognizing the grocery industry’s best and brightest leaders under the age of 40. He will be honored at the Progressive Grocer awards gala this November in Orlando, Florida.

Padilla worked his way up in the organization, eventually becoming a store leader at the age of 25 at a higher-volume store, and today leads a multimillion-dollar store where he oversees more than 180 associates.

“This award is truly eye opening for me,” Padilla said. “It is confirmation to myself that I am developing into the leader I set out to be and, more so, gives me the confidence to continue challenging myself to be a better mentor and colleague. To be recognized in this light gives me deeper
