Did we mention that there are no side effects? You’d surely stock up on a lifetime supply. Guess what? These life-altering superfoods are available right now at your local supermarket. However, figuring out what really is part of a healthy diet is getting harder and harder in these days of information overload. Step into any supermarket and you’ll see thousands of labels shouting good-health claims: Whole grains! No fats! Essential vitamins and minerals!

CQ EDITORIAL TEAM

To make it easier, and more credible, we have compiled a list of some of the foods recommended by health professionals (Backpage). But, remember at all times that if you have any type of health problem or physical symptom, do not self-diagnose or selfmedicate—even if with a food or herb. Trust your medical professional first and foremost in this department. Try this today: Look through your kitchen and see which of these superfoods you already have. Then eat one at each meal today.

From personal experience I would like to urge you all to give sailing a “go” and get down to Kilifi. Our children have been on several 3 degrees courses and have absolutely loved them. To make it even easier for you, we would like to offer anyone buying an insurance policy before August 2013 the chance to enter a raffle to win a 3 degrees sailing course

4

In the 1940s, executives at 20th Century Fox had the legs of actress Betty Grable (pictured above) insured for

$1 million each by Lloyds of London. The insurance agents fought over who would inspect her when making a claim.

5

The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has insured just the middle finger on his left hand for $1.6 million

Super foods! The effect that diet can have on how you feel today, and in the future, is astounding! You don’t need specific foods for specific ailments. A healthy diet incorporating a variety of the following superfoods will help you maintain your weight, fight disease, and live longer. Superfoods Offering Super Health Protection Beans, Blueberries, Broccoli, Oats, Oranges, Pumpkin, Salmon, Soy, Spinach, Tea (green or black), Tomatoes, Turkey, Walnuts, Yogurt, Blueberries — Antioxidant Superfood Packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids, these berries are also high in potassium and vitamin C, making them the top choice of doctors and nutritionists. Not only can they lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, they are also anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is a key driver of all chronic diseases, so blueberries have a host of benefits. When selecting berries, note that the darker they are, the more anti-oxidants they have. Have a serving (about 1/2 cup) every day (frozen are just as good as fresh). Be sure to include lots of other fruits and vegetables in your diet as well. Remember too that, in general, the more color they have, the more antioxidants they have.

Omega 3-Rich Fish -- Superfoods for the Heart, Joints, and Memory We know that the omega 3s you get in fish lower heart disease risk, help arthritis, and may possibly help with memory loss and Alzheimer’s,” Somer says. “There is some evidence to show that it reduces depression as well. Omega-3s are most prevalent in fatty, cold-water fish: Look for wild (not farmed) salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel. Aim for two-to-three servings a week. Other forms of omega 3s are available in fortified eggs, flax seed, and walnuts. These superfoods have the added benefit of being high in monounsaturated fats, which can lower cholesterol.

Although many of these foods have reported medical benefits, remember at all times that if you have any type of health problem or physical symptom, do not self-diagnose or self-medicate—even if with a food or herb. Trust your medical professional first and foremost in this department.
