Site Analysis / Site Plan

Gu Nan Street of Dingshu Town is the birthplace of Yix -ingclay pot. You can find several buildings built up with clay pot in this area, such as walls, or floor covered by ti -les. Also, I am impressed by the sense of shuttle and the mysterious atmosphere of these lanes.

As the best portray of ancient houses and rivers, Gu Nan Street tries to bring Yixing clay pot into the modern life. The base is located at the opposite of the main road, and we can enjoy the view of Dingshu Town from the hill which is right behind the base. A new landmark that can gather people and attract tourists is required by Gu Nan Street.

Process

First, these three building volumes represent the activity center, the studio and the auditorium.

Then, by utilizing the direction of pedestrians, the use of the space and the light, we built up the final shape.

The structure of the atrium is based on the interaction between the space and each floor.

Furthermore, the intricate floor of the third floor creates a volume pattern ranging from low to high that echoes the terrain of the rear hillside.

The concept of the whole design is based on the arrangement of local houses, the direction of the street and the location of the river.
