In the first part of this project, I regarded East-Wall Gate as the center of this resort, and then I’d chose nine places in Zhongzheng district and customize the facilities for each site. The purpose of this behavior is that I anticipate people to communicate by using or going through these facilities; ultimately, people might become open their minds after continually interact. All the facilities are building upon the idea of adjusting relationships between people and family; moreover, altering society is the ultimate purpose of this project.

In another part of the project, East-Wall Gate, which is the center of the resort, plays an important role. It used to be a border that protected the entire Taipei City; however, it just an ancient building without any function now; moreover, people are hardly getting closer to East-Wall Gate because a busy roundabout surrounds it. Only if polices will block every traffic lane and open for citizens if there was a march.

This is the Center for the Anthropocene. In these halls, minds representing every corner of the world come together to research environmental phenomena and reimagine how human and non-human systems will function in a world permanently changed by human intervention. Much of the laboratory spaces in this Center function as living farms and forests where passers-by can explore, and researchers can observe at any scale the flora and fauna of their system of choice. Analysis centers in the lower levels act as information farms for these forests, filtering information and sending data up to the lab spaces, where researchers can develop models for future agricultural and reforestation efforts. Another key aspect of the Center revolves around the relationship between formality and informality.

Formal assembly spaces bring clarity to contemporary discourse, while informal meeting spaces are dispersed through the project, allowing constant dialogue, learning from, and teaching each other.

The goal of this space is to leave stakeholders more inspired than when they arrived.

This project began with the furniture design that encourages children to occupy the spaces with more freedom. The chairs are not supposed to limit the educational activities. Instead, the functions of the chairs are defined by children. The unlimited possibilities imply a sense of breaking the norm of furniture. In other words, the chairs allow students to occupy the classrooms with different postures and then stimulate more activities.

As an extension of furniture, strategically, the cluster of buildings focuses on a continuous and fluid relationship between the surrounding landscape and the interior spaces of buildings. The blurred boundary allows the smooth transition of different educational events within the learning environment. There are formations such as undulations, bifurcations, creases, inflections, aggregation, and fragmentation that modify the playgrounds' surface and exterior canopy into an architectural landscape and buildings that embrace and direct children through different levels of the interior spaces.

In general, the main principle of this project is to “invent the impossible.” The educational environments are supposed to provide places for children to explore and create rather than setting up ordinary learning environments. Students are encouraged to define how they can play and what they can learn at all times. Thus, this project aims to move away from elementary architectural principles by breaking the structural norms of classic buildings. By including non-linear design processed into the buildings and favoring fragmentation, this project expresses a form of controlled chaos. The chaos refers to a sense of fuzzy continuity, which has two meanings. First, there are no specific boundaries between interior classrooms and exterior playgrounds in the school. It implies the idea that children can play and learn everywhere in school. Second, continuity emphasizes the concept of sequential spaces rather than the separation of spaces. The entwined indoor classrooms and outdoor playgrounds allow students to experience seamless activities of learning and playing.

Generally, by incorporating freeform buildings, porous landscapes, and fragmented facilities in different compositions and forms, this project provides children with a place of ambiguity to explore and adventure continuously.

At the beginning of this course, we aimed to analyze The Opus project, which Zaha Hadid designed. By deeply analyzing the structure system and detail of this building, we could model it and draw it with different aspects of details. The most challenging part of this project was that we hardly found the connection between each mullion and facade, so we tried to rebuild some of the building by researching other details from similar projects.

The second part of this project is about transformation. By adding other structural systems to the existing one, we spend lots of time making it works and keeping the original function and appearance. So the following pages are the detailed drawing of this project; we showed the details of the structure and how it could work in the real world.
