When Is winter averaging? February is the last month of winter averaging.

Why does the city use winter use for averaging?

Senior Citizens over the age of 62 qualify for a discount on their water bills. • How much is the discount?  $2.24 water  $2.06 sewer • How do I sign-up?

Your sewer bill is based upon your water consumption Outdoor water use (such as irrigation and recreational use) does not typically enter the city’s wastewater system and using winter averaging consumption therefore, prevents the wastewater portion of your utility from spiking during the summer.

12

Complete the form located at the utility billing desk at City Hall.

• What should I bring with me? Bring your driver’s license for proof of identity. The water bill must be in the senior citizens’ name.

Best Yard Award

Can you please help us out? On service days, please ensure your vehicle is not parked in this area. Code Compliance will be notified about repeat offenders.

This is a courtesy notice from your neighborhood trash and recycling partner CWD.

We need your help! In order to safely pick up trash and recycling items, the trucks need ample space in order to maneuver into the alleyways. Cars parked across from the alleyways impede this process and increase the chance of private property being damaged. 18

Do you know someone (yourself, a neighbor, or a business) who is doing a great job maintaining their yard on a regular basis? Nominate them today! The City would like to recognize those who go above and beyond to keep our neighborhoods beautiful. Go to http://www.lancaster-tx.com/1212/Best10 Yard-Award to access a nomination form.

Lancaster Eyes and Ears Program (LEEP) The City of Lancaster Code Compliance Division is seeking volunteers to join the

Blowing or leaving grass clippings and other yard waste in the street is ILLEGAL (Ord. Sec. 24.05.006). The LEEP program will primarily perform duties in the field identifying code violations for code officers to perform further investigation. Essential duties and responsibilities: Patrol assigned areas to identify code violations such as: Excessive accumulation of trash and debris; parking of vehicles, boats, trailers on unimproved surfaces; high grass and overgrown weeds/vegetation; junk vehicles; illegal dumping and litter; and illegal placement of signs.

To join or for more information contact the City of Lancaster Code Compliance Division at 972-218-1200. 20

Why? Besides being a code violation, leaves and grass clippings can clog the City’s storm water drain system. When drains are clogged with clippings and debris, rain water can come backup and flood homes and property. Also, storm drains empty into our creeks and river unfiltered and untreated. What should I do with clippings? • Blow grass clippings back onto the lawn, where they become a mulch and natural fertilizer. • Collect clippings and leaves into compost pile. Clippings are excellent compost for gardens. • Sweep, collect and bag clippings and leaves and dispose of properly. How to report it? For more information or to report violations, call 20 Code Compliance at 972-218-1200 or email codecompliance@Lancaster-tx.com.
