Celebrate Fourth of July at Fort MacArthur Community Center as we host a fun filled day of free food, entertainment and games.

Pass the Paint

EFMP Pass the Paint is for adults and dependents who are enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program. This workshop will be a free Hybrid workshop for families who have or are a caregiver of someone with disability.

Summer Fun Run 5k Run/Walk

Come complete for some great prizes at this 5k. Top Male and Female and the individual with the closest estimated time.

School Age Care Program

The summer program will have weekly themes and field trips. The program focuses on team building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem-solving skills. The staff offers homework support to youth enrolled in the School Age Program.

Archery Lesson

Join us at Trident Archery in Carson for a beginner archery class! Students will be taught basics archery skills as well as a safety brief in an indoor range. Ages 8+ are welcome to participate and all supplies will be provided.

Transition Workshop (3 days)

The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members.

DOL Employment Track (2 days)

July 25 - 26 | August 22 - 23 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

DoD Education Track (2 days)

August 8 - 9 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can learn about education resources available. This is a quarterly workshop part of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Marriage introduces a couple to many changes, including financial adjustments. This workshop may assist a newly married Airman and his or her spouse organize their finances efficiently and work through many of the other changes that come with their new status.

Build a resume for federal employment using the “10 Steps to A Federal Job” method. We MUST have at least 4 people registered in order to have this class.

The purpose of the 1000 lbs. and 500 lbs. clubs is to acknowledge the physical achievement and dedication to training of Los Angeles Air Force Base Personnel.

Overview: To become a "member" of the club, one must perform one repetition of a Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. After all 3 lifts are successfully completed, the total weight lifted is added up. To be a member of the 500 lb. club (women only), the total weight lifted must 500 lbs or greater. To be a member of the 1000 lb. club (open), the total weight lifted must be 1000 lbs or greater. All lifts must occur on the same day within a 60 minute time period under the guidance of the fitness center staff. Rankings will be developed by total pound for pound strength (total weight lifted/total body weight).

How to participate: Set-up an appointment with our staff who will act as judges and spotters for your lifts. This challenge is ongoing and can be completed anytime during the year and you may re-test at any time as well.

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Worksheets are located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. This program provides recreational options for dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, contractors, or residents living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. A current shot record is required when registering. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on positive socialization, recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team-building skills.

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23-year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Certificates & Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Medals. The STEAM room is open five days a week! Join staff for directed and other cool STEM projects, or just stop by for some solo time on a computer, using 3D pens, building robots, flying drones, and much more.
