Out & About in WNC
Welcome Jaclyn
Reiselt!
“A home is a place to start your story.”
– Anita Renfroe
Your home is more than just a place to live—it’s where memories are made, dreams take shape, and new beginnings unfold. I’m here to help you find the perfect space to start your next chapter!
Originally from a small town in Ohio, my family and I spent a few years in SC, before discovering the beauty of Western North Carolina in 2015. From the rolling mountains to the welcoming communities, this region quickly became home, and I’m passionate about helping others find a place they love just as much.
For me, real estate is about more than just buying and selling—it’s about building relationships, earning trust, and making the process as seamless and stress-free as possible. Whether you’re a first-time buyer, looking to sell, or searching for your dream mountain retreat, I’ll be by your side with honesty, transparency, and a commitment to your best interests.
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me outdoors, exploring everything WNC has to offer. Whether it’s hiking scenic trails, adventuring with my family, or cheering on my son at the dirt bike track, I love soaking in the
beauty and adventure of these mountains. Navigating real estate can feel overwhelming, but with the right agent, it can also be exciting and rewarding. I’d love the opportunity to guide you through the process and help you find a home where your story can begin. I look forward to working with you—let’s turn your real estate dreams into reality!
Q&A with Jaclyn
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in real estate?
A: I’ve always loved working with people and helping them find what truly fits their needs. My background in sales taught me how rewarding it is to build relationships and create positive experiences. Real estate felt like the perfect next step—a way to connect with my community, guide people through one of the biggest decisions of their lives, and make their dreams a reality.
Q: What’s your work superpower?
A: I have a knack for understanding people’s needs before they even say them. Whether it’s reading between the lines in a conversation or anticipating challenges before they arise, I pride myself on making the process seamless and stress-free for my clients.
Our agents have been out & about! From helping build communities up through service to celebrating with clients, below are a few fun highlights to share from our “Company News Feed.”
Q: This magazine issue highlights the harmony of luxury and nature in WNC. What are a few of your favorite gems in the region that capture this balance?
A: Western North Carolina is full of breathtaking places that blend luxury with nature. The Grove Park Inn is a perfect example—stunning mountain views with rich history and elegance. I also love Lake Junaluska for its peaceful waterfront homes and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, where you can find secluded luxury retreats nestled in nature.
Q: If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and why?
A: Phil Dunphy from Modern Family—he’s hilarious, full of dad jokes, and always has a positive outlook on life. Plus, as a real estate agent himself, he always throws in some funny real estate jokes on the show. I think it would be a fun and lighthearted dinner with plenty of laughs!
Q: What’s a hobby or activity you enjoy in your free time?
A: I love exploring new places, whether it’s a scenic mountain trail, a small-town coffee shop, or a hidden gem in the area. There’s always
something new to discover! I also enjoy going to the dirt bike track with my son and husband or traveling to his hare scramble races all over North Carolina—it’s a great way to spend time as a family and be part of an exciting community.
Q: If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?
A: Negotiation at the highest level! I’m already confident in my ability to advocate for clients, but mastering the art of negotiation would take my service to the next level.
Q: If you had to be stuck in a TV show for a month, which one would you pick?
A: I’d go with Lost—it would be an adventure, and I’d like to think I’d figure out the mysteries before anyone else. If I was going for laughs, The Office would be a fun, chaotic place to work for a while.
Q: Do you have a favorite quote or source of inspiration?
A: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Peter Drucker. Real estate is all about building the future, and I love being a part of that journey with my clients.

My daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Brandon, have a YouTube channel “Keeping Afloat With the Joneses,” which is all about building and living in floating homes, and the lake life on beautiful Lake Fontana in the mountains of Western North Carolina (think Sausalito floating homes near San Francisco). They were just featured on NPR! Click here to listen in. So proud of them for living their dream!

“Cool” Scenes from WNC
Went to Hayesville on a listing appointment and caught these pics on my way there. So pretty! There was someone halfway up the ice rock/ice climbing! …And yes, I got the listing!
From the Desk of Dani Miner
Eyes on the Summit
On a chilly, overcast morning in late December, my husband David, and our furry best friend Barley, and I hiked up to Queens Creek Lake in the Nantahala National Forest. The lake, a 200-acre reservoir near Topton, North Carolina, was calm and quiet. The trail was peaceful, with no signs of other visitors. We followed the road up listening to the occasional rustling of leaves and the soft crunch of our boots on the path. Barley trotted ahead, stopping to sniff and explore. The cool air and stillness made for a relaxing, unhurried hike. We took in the views along the way, pausing to watch mist roll over the mountains and water. With no distractions, it was an ideal spot to simply enjoy the outdoors. As the cold settled in, we wrapped up our hike, already thinking about returning in the summer to see the lake in a different light.
Highlights from Hope
Preachers Rock, GA
Okay, so you know how some hikes are just, like, pretty? Well, hiking to the top of Preacher’s Rock was a whole different level for me. My dad was a preacher, so it felt like a real spiritual journey, you know? I’m telling you, I almost shouted “Hallelujah!” from the top – it was that kind of view, that kind of feeling.
The story goes that this fella named Bear Joe, who felt called to preach but didn’t have any fancy book learnin’, decided he needed to practice. So, he’d hike up to this massive granite rock slab on the side of the mountain, overlooking the whole valley, and just let loose. Apparently, Bear Joe was a big dude with a voice that could shake the trees. People down in the valley could hear him practicing his sermons! That’s how that rock got its name –Preacher’s Rock.
After soaking up the views, my hiking buddies and I wrapped up our day with a drive to Vogel State Park in Georgia, which is only about an hour south of the North Carolina line. Definitely a trip worth taking. Just ask Jan Newsome
A Sure Sign of Spring!
Some folks wait for Punxsutawney Phil to call it, but in Jan’s neighborhood, spring’s arrival is announced by friendly, furry neighbors poking their heads out of hibernation. Now that’s a wake-up call!

LUXURY MEETS NATURE
by Antoinette Prisco
The truth about everything in nature is that nothing is symmetrical, and everything has its own inherent beauty. We, who are blessed to live in the Smoky Mountains, are certainly surrounded by nature and luxurious elements that can be used as inspiration for all sorts of home details and finishes.
When we venture out into the great outdoors, we can see all that surrounds us is gorgeous. Nature has the perfect theater to perform in, a stage of majestic proportions that changes with the seasons. Texture, light, color, temperature and smell are all in constant flux and lends us our palette to work with in designing spaces and structures that we all enjoy everyday.
The bark of a hickory tree with its wonderful visual texture can be seen in woven patterned area rugs using a multitude of greys.
The glistening elements of rock outcroppings and granite balds are interpreted in stone fireplaces and porcelain floors with all the variations of brown, gold and bronze tones.
The twisting of rhododendron shrubs can be the basis for custom porch railings and handmade hammered wrought iron light
fixtures and hardware accents.
The mystical low lying morning clouds, that gave the Smokies their name, can be envisioned in soft lambs’ wool pillows and chunky cotton throws.
Luxury can mean many things to different people. Some home buyers are looking for all the details and appointments that the mountains have to offer, and other buyers are more interested in having the outside views having the spotlight. Whatever the design goals, they can be achieved by referencing these natural surroundings.
Refined and intentional use of natural materials exudes luxury. A sense of permanence and quality that can only be achieved by choosing the right blend of elements that give the home its personality, its balance and atmosphere.
Juxtaposing metals with wood, fabrics with leather, stone with glass all create a symphony of interest to the eye. These opposites can set a rhythm that can move the eye of the viewer around the room, across the patio and onto the exterior of the home.
Inside, a gorgeous hickory dining table with all the visual movement hickory can offer with iron legs, the well-worn leather chair draped with a cable knit throw in the corner of the great room, the stone clad wall with accents of hand pressed glass in the entryway set the stage until we move on to the view of the patio.
The backyard with the stone pavers bordered with the willow fencing all aglow washed with moonlight and accented with glass hurricane lamps. The exterior of the home, warmly clad with the best the industry has to offer in wood tones, stone facades and iron accent lighting. All cues from nature. All very luxurious on their own merit.
The more the focus stays and is satisfied, the more the luxury of nature and serene environments is appreciated.
All in all, luxury is a tangible simple thing that nature shows us every day, month after month, year after year. Whether you are on a mountain top, creek side or a pasture, nature is the constant and luxury is the feeling behind this generous gift.

Spring 2025 Home Décor Trends
Say farewell to minimalism, stark white rooms, fast furniture and mid-century modern; welcome home to maximalism, moody earth hues, antiques and Art Deco.
If the idea of changing your décor as radically as from minimalism to maximalism is giving you the heebie-jeebies, you should know that acceptance and implementation of new home styles can take years, so you don’t have to be the first one on your block to embrace them. Home design and interior design are not so much based in fickle fashion as they are in cultural changes shaped by new attitudes, world events, and the economy.
Sometimes, we’re lucky to have a word or a catchphrase that communicates the latest ethos. After 9/11, “cocooning” influenced
home design—the nation responded to the tragedy by focusing more on home life, flying our stars and stripes, and creating cocoon-like environments in our homes.
In a way, cocooning is coming back in a new iteration, as 2025 becomes the year to focus on comfort, well-being, and personal preferences.
Maximalism
When people feel flush, they tend to spend more on décor, collectibles, art, and finer furnishings, just as they did during the Victorian Gilded Age. The antithesis of minimalism, maximalism in 2025 is a curated expression of excess, abundance, and extravagance. Read More.
Find Your Comforting Brown Shade for 2025
Color psychologists say that colors have personalities that affect people and the environment. Brown, for example, is quietly confident, approachable, reliable, and reassuring.
When the Pantone Color Institute released its selection for the Color of the Year 2025, a rich silky brown evocative of chocolate and coffee called Mocha Mousse, it explained that this is the shade that answers a global “desire for comfort.” Mocha Mousse also provides a safe haven for neutralists who want a bold, fresh alternative to classic whites, grays, or beiges.
Benjamin Moore also chose a consoling brown for its Color of the Year, a confident, snuggly shade called Cinnamon Slate. Lauded as a “delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown,” this hue leads the muted Color Trends Palette for 2025.
Sherwin Williams’ 2025 Color Collection of the Year showcases soothing browns as well—a dark taupe called Nutshell and a warm milk chocolate called Grounded.
Browns easily define the theme of enveloping comfort and partner well with secondary and accent colors in creams, blues, and greens.
