Birds of a feather flock together.

Formation flying will be the way of the future, says Airbus.

I

n the future we invision more planes, airlines, passengers with even more destinations for commercial traffic to land in. What if we flew like birds? Imagine groups of planes meeting up over destinations all flying to the same place but now in a formation.

his is what the engineers of Airbus forsee for the future. All this is to conserve fuel, energy emissions and flight time. Why not look at the birds for our inspiration after all they have been flying long before us. If it has worked for them, why not make it work for us?

railing planes can effectively “surf” on the energy coming from the wing tip vortices of the preceding aircraft. This reduces drag, which increases fuel efficiency and minimises engine emissions.

Luke Aikins makes history and jumps into a net from 25,000 feet wearing no parachute. Luke Aikins

42 year old Luke Aikins is the first American skydiver to jump 25,000 feet from a plane without a parachute and land in a net. This record-breaking jump was presented by Stride Gum they called it Heaven Sent and it was done at the Big Sky movie ranch in Simi Valley, California. The jump was broadcasted live on the Fox network on Saturday evening. He hit the 100-by-100-foot net perfectly, quickly climbed out of it and walked over to hug his four-year-old son Logan and wife Monica. Both had been watching with other family members.

‘This thing just happened! I can’t even get the words out of my mouth,’ he thanked the dozens of crew members who spent two years helping him prepare for the jump. He made sure to “I’m almost levitating, it’s incredible”, thank those who assembled the fishthe jubilant skydiver said, raising his ing trawler-like net that really worked. hands over his head as his wife held their son, who dozed in her arms.

Henry-Francois Gelot is the manager behind the most amazing alt-pop-rock band The Franklin Electric. Henry-Francois Gelot has been involved with signing, promoting and funding artists & labels since 1997. He was one of the original 4 In Da Morning Recordings label partners and later took on managing the talented hip hop harmonica player Bad News Brown. As accomplished producer, creative director & artist manager, HF has recently been very busy touring the world with the Montreal band The Franklin Electric, who have enjoyed some high voltage buzz since their debut release back in 2014. With a signature sound & over 250 shows under their belt domestically and abroad, HF & crew are now preparing the release of their softmore album for the fall / winter season. We reached out to Henry and realized he’s all about passion, dedication, managerial experience, and partnerships. Here’s a piece of his story.

How did you find Franklin Electric?

S

your art will stand the test of time cause there’s so much diluted content out there. The way people consume music has completely changed within the last decade (streaming). To ensure sustainability, touring extensively and raising an acts value progressively is detrimental. We will sacrifice time spent with family, loved ones & friends for the “greater good”. Lastly, bands need to offer an overall live show experience that goes beyond the music, lights, props and performance. You need to be remembered as something epic.

ELEVEN PEOPLE HANDCUFFED & DETAINED FOR SIX HOURS ON A SUNDAY MORNING GOING TO A CAR SHOW The Truth Behind The Fritz Cesar Story

T

he story starts with a group of guy’s passion for cars. They love to work on their cars, making them look amazing and fresh for summer. This is their hobby. Introducing Fritz, he’s a proud owner of his own garage. He is also the president of the Sunday Swang Car Club. His car club plus Wrap Mtl, another east end specialty shop was supposed to showcase the Sunday Swang Cars at Quebec’s largest car show help in St,Eustache, QC. July 3rd 2016. Instead an alleged 911 call came in at approx 10:30am saying a red Dodge Charger was driving on a highway waving a gun. Within minutes one patrol car in the area turned into over 18 cars backup from the Laval, St. Eustache police along with Surete De Quebec forces. With countless officers all responded to the red charger call Fritz is watching this all unfold from his Tahoe. He was driving behind his little brother, who was driving the red charger. Keep in mind the red charger is really black it was just wrapped red by Wrap Mtl for the car show.

After Fritz’s little brother and passenger came to a stop they were forced out immediately onto their knees. With hands behind their heads the police officers held them at gunpoint. All the streets are blocked off, the police are in tactical mode. Imagine this is you? Fritz and approx 11 other cars pull over watching the spectacle in disbelief. Not knowing in turn, they would all become part of this arrest. Laval police Constable Franco Di Genova, Said ”All were detained because it was thought that the gun was passed from the Charger to one of the other cars”. “We are a clean bunch of guys that simply loves our cars and there is nothing illegal about that” Says Fritz. For me the lack of rights I was given is so aggravating. Knowing we didn’t have guns, weed nothing that was the biggest irritation. We knew this was all stupid and ludacris. “It’s the way they did it with so much aggression, to treat us like criminals, for the people to look at us as if we were members of street gangs coming to cause trouble.

At the car show we’re loved and treated with respect because of our popularity in the car world, this is the ironic thing.” After 6 hours nothing had been found in any of the cars, and they were able to leave without charges being laid with not even an apology. All I have left is my respect and I want it back. I want the officers who disrespected me and my associates to learn from their mistakes because if they don’t, they will do this to another person again for sure. Fritz is also the president of the “Sunday Swang Car Club”, and has been attending car shows for the last seven years is filing a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. As for the intervention itself, they were escorted with respect to Tim Hortons to use the bathroom “If we didn’t give a damn, we would have told them to sit on the curb and hold it in.” Di Genova said. Caesar, the truth is,”We were offered paint cans to urinate in and we all refused. Then we’re brought to a Couch Tarde to be exact and not to be further

12

humiliated, we again refused to go to the bathroom as we were on camera in Couche Tard wearing handcuffs. We ended up having to go in the bushes”. Caesar was shocked when the police let the white drivers go, but not totally surprised. Fritz has risen over the initial hate he had for police and has taken on positive mentoring for other younger drivers. His goal is to teach them how to maintain their cool when faced with life and death situations. His goal is also to bring awareness and help resolve negative stereotypes police often have by drivers in nice cars regardless of their colors, profiling is profiling he states.

4AM NEWS: What wrong did the police do to you that infamous day? — Firstly, the action to put aside my whole group and I was the first mistake of the day. They had blocked the street with many police cars as well as the other police cars lined up along the street. The fact that there was so many police cars to begin with made us look like we really did something wrong and that we were bad people. They had initially told us the reason we were being pulled over was due to a call concerning a car and a gun. We respected the protocol of the police to check out the 9-1-1 call, however no one had anticipated what was to come. All of us (except the Caucasian driver) were arrested and all our cars searched. Not only did they arrest us, they handcuffed us as well for 5 hours and a half. They treated us all like criminals. When we had asked to go to the washroom after 3 hours and a half of waiting, they drove us to a couche-tard station with our handcuffs and watched us one by one. Not only was it degrading but embarrassing. We had no reasons against us for such an arrest and for such treatment. Not only were they searching our cars inside and out, they had dogs sniffing around my car implying I had hidden drugs. They had damaged personal items in the car and to go as far as to even look unto our chicken we brought for the bbq that day. We never attended the car show we were supposed to go to and this incident impacted us all. 4AM NEWS: How does the letter of apology change your position towards your treatment? 4AM NEWS: What do you think describes your personal character that the police had wrong about you? — When the police got the 9-1-1 call concerning the red Charger having a gun, they went to look through that car. When they came empty handed, it took them 20 minutes to turn their search into a crime scene and arrest all of us due to the fact that all our cars were custom and that we resembled the driver. They assumed the gun got passed from one car to the other and that it was being hidden amongst us.

— First and foremost, we have yet to receive an apology letter by the police. Also, it doesn’t change anything. The damage has been done can’t be erased. There is nothing we can do to change the way our image and reputation has been affected by this whole ordeal. After going through such extensive measures to search for a gun and simply to come out empty handed, the least we deserve to receive is an apology. It doesn’t make what they did ok, it simply demonstrates to us and to the public that we did nothing wrong. The cameras on scene did not help us out either. We understand the circumstances of the 9-1-1

call and that they had to proceeded with normal protocol however they could have done it in another way to not make us feel and look like criminals, handcuffed and showing the bystanders and public that we were gangsters of some sort. 4AM NEWS: What’s the future success plan for Swang car club after you have been vindicated of any wrong doing? — No matter what has happened, we are still working hard like we have always done since day one and trying our best to get over and surpass what has happened. We just want to be the best we can be as a group, as a familly and as individuals. 4AM NEWS: What’s “Swang” mean? — My first drive with my old school car was on a Sunday in 2011. To avoid the potholes, I would swang in the street. It is a concept of how you drive on the road. 4AM NEWS: What kind of mechanics does your shop specialize in and what made you decide to own your own garage and be a business man? — It has always been my dream to be a mechanic and to own my proper garage. There is a certain kind of proudness that comes along by helping people and by doing so in your own garage. I always wanted to give my customers the feeling of security

13

and confidence in my work and to do things the way I believe they should be done. I put my heart into all the work that I do for my customers and leaving them satisfied is what really gratifies my job. I do everything a mechanic does; tire changes, oil changes, etc… However, my real passion lies in making custom cars. This means I take old and new American cars, strip them down to nothing and rebuild them in the way the client sees fit. Of course, I put a little bit of my personal touch into my work but changing the look of the car and making it custom made is my true passion and this is what I strive for. 4AM NEWS: What’s worse between car profiling and racial profiling and what do you think you were profiled for first? — I believe I had been profiled first by car profiling however racial profiling is much worse in terms of how you feel being a victim of profiling. 4AM NEWS: How has this negative situation made a positive impact to you in your life and your Swang car club? — There has been no positive impact coming from this event in my life. My club and I attend every car show, every weekend. We look forward to the summer all year long. We work hard to make our cars look the best and try to model them to look as original and classic as possible. This summer, ever since this incident has occurred, we haven’t been to many car shows in fear of it happening again. It has been such a big ordeal and this has affected everyone. We don’t want to go through it again. Also, a lot less customers have been coming to the shop. People fear us, when in reality we are just like any other person. We have a passion for custom cars however that doesn’t make us bad people. The business has taken a hit ever since this incident. 4AM NEWS: What was the any difference in your treatment versus what we see happening in America?

— If you are referring to #blacklivesmatter, there is no comparing our situation to what is happening in the states right now. No one got shot that day and no one lost a life. However, we are victims of racial and car profiling just like in the states. The states influence our choices on how to custom our cars. Changing and modifying your car is a much bigger movement in the states than here in Montreal however the way the people are being profiled in the states is the same way it is happening here. They automatically assume if you have a custom car that you are a gangster of some sort simply because how else will you find the money to modify your car? I assure you, our love for custom cars is what mo-

tivates us to work hard and put our money in our parts to make our cars look the best possible. 4AM NEWS: What could of prevented this from happening if you could replay that day back and do it all over again? — Nothing. 4AM NEWS: What’s your final words in this story and what point is your complaint or case at now? — I can’t really talk about where we are at right now with the case however I think it’s a shame that such a beautiful day turned out to be one of my worst days. Was there really a

phone call? Was it necessary to have all those police cars lined up along the street and blocking the road? Did they really have to search our cars with dogs? And was it necessary to treat us as though we were criminals? A lot of questions still remain unanswered and this is why my group and I believe an apology is so important. As some sort of closure but also for the public to know that we aren’t criminals, as they seem to believe and for the police to admit that they made a mistake. There are so many bad things happening in the world right now, racial profiling #blacklivesmatter is amongst them. We can all pray for a change, but a change will only come when one acknowledges that what they did was wrong.

Montreal police have many negative issues and many positive contributions as well. In Montreal we have a language barrier, race barrier, color barrier and even a sexual orientation barrier. However, amongst all these barriers we still have built some great bridges. There are alot of great police officers serving MTL and representing our treasured 514. It’s the bad ones that always ruin it for the good bunch.... We cannot say all police are bad,

Can One Bad Apple Spoil the Bunch? There are plenty of good cops and a few bad ones. We don’t live in a perfect world and we definitely don’t have perfect police. We have to say in Canada our justice system is not as hard as the justice sytem in America.

BE-WELL

— Life was so simple, then… ...So make your life be simple again When I reflect back to my childhood, I had no worries life was simple … go to school and do my best to make myself, my teacher, and my parents proud of my accomplishments. I had fun, played all kinds of games with my siblings and friends, I looked forward to Christmas and Easter holidays, special occasions and family vacations, gatherings at Church picnics etc… I had other activities to attend such as Sunday school and dance classes, and I also used my imagination I drew, painted and created something different or I’d be outside and do nothing … just sit and ponder life. I made real life be something fun. Life was simple then because children live in the present moment and all 5 senses are engaged. Children
