y Flessner and I’ve lived in the Harvey Park neighborhood in er for my entire life. I’m 17 years old and I’m currently going to ive Arts Academy. Once I graduate I’m planning on going to te University and getting my degree in arts. I’ve always cared community and making an impact but I wasn’t sure how I could t. In January of 2017, I took the first step and attended the in support of all the women in my life, especially my mom. hs I unfortunately couldn’t make it to any BLM protests, so my support by donating my extra money and signing every e my way. In the past 3 elections besides this 2020 presidential the polls, collecting ballots and making sure every ballot that de it into the city's possession. I wanted to make more of an munity so I sought out ways to help and found an opportunity Public Health to give my help to the community directly This d the coalition Communities That Care (CTC) I’m also working Safety Micro Grant from the Denver Department of Safety that erspectives in southwest Denver I think our perspectives are e not only are we living with everyone in this community, but also the next upcoming generation holding the future in our hands. In CTC all of the adults have made us feel welcome and wanted and they sought out our perspectives because they value them. Through these projects, I’ve been able to help others in my area find resources and learn about issues that affect not only them but youths as well.
Mi nombre es Darby Flessner y he vivido en el vecindario de Harvey Park en el suroeste de Denver durante toda mi vida. Tengo 17 años y actualmente voy a la Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy. Una vez que me gradúe, planeo ir a la Metropolitan State University y obtener mi título en artes. Siempre me ha preocupado mucho mi comunidad y su impacto, pero no estaba seguro de cómo podría hacerlo personalmente. En enero de 2017, di el primer paso y asistí a la Marcha de las Mujeres de apoyo a todas las mujeres de mi vida, especialmente a mi mamá. Desafortunadamente, estos últimos meses no pude asistir a ninguna de las protestas de BLM, así que mostré mi apoyo donando mi dinero extra y firmando todas las peticiones que se me presentaron. En las últimas 3 elecciones, además de estas elecciones presidenciales de 2020, trabajé en las urnas, recolectando papeletas y asegurándome de que todas las papeletas que recibí llegaran a la ciudad. Quería tener un mayor impacto en mi comunidad, así que busqué formas de ayudar y encontré una oportunidad a través de Denver Public Health para brindar mi ayuda a la comunidad directamente.
