How do you identify within the AAPI Community?

I am a first generation Vietnamese American, my parents immigrated to the United States.

What brings you joy about your heritage?

Having a community that I can relate to and celebrating traditions that bring my family and friends together like Lunar New Year. My heritage has shaped my morals and influences on how I view the world.

Who are some of your role models?

My role models are my older brother and the YouTuber Ryan Higa because he was one of the few Asians I saw in media which inspired me.

Cómo te identificas dentro de la Comunidad AAPI?

Soy vietnamita estadounidense de primera generación, mis padres emigraron a los Estados Unidos.

Qué te trae alegría de tu herencia?

Tener una comunidad con la que me pueda relacionar y celebrar tradiciones que unen a mi familia y amigos como el Año Nuevo Lunar. Mi herencia ha dado forma a mi moral e influye en cómo veo el mundo.

Quiénes son algunos de tus modelos a seguir?

Mis modelos a seguir son mi hermano mayor y el YouTuber Ryan Higa porque fue uno de los pocos asiáticos que vi en los medios que me inspiró.

During the month of May, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is celebrated annually. ThetermAAPIisanumbrellatermused to encompass over 50 distinct ethnic groups that speak over 100 languages. Throughout history, the AAPI community has contributed greatly to many facetsofAmericanculture,includingliterature,art, science, medicine, sports, recreation, activism and law. According to the Federal Asian Pacific AmericanCouncil(FAPAC),thethemeforthisyear's month is "Advancing Leaders Through Opportunity". This theme encourages solidarity amongtheAAPIpeopleandpromotesAAPIpeople to be in government positions, in which they are underrepresented.

POR QUÉ CELEBRAMOS EL MES DE LA HERENCIA AAPI?

Duranteelmesdemayo,secelebraanualmenteel MesdelaHerenciadelosAsiáticosAmericanosde las Islas del Pacífico (AAPI). El término AAPI es un término general que abarca más de 50 grupos étnicosdistintosquehablanmásde100idiomas.A lo largo de la historia, la comunidad AAPI ha contribuidoengranmedidaamuchasfacetasdela cultura estadounidense, incluidas la literatura, el arte, la ciencia, la medicina, los deportes, la recreación, el activismo y el derecho. Según el Consejo Federal Americano de Asia y el Pacífico (FAPAC), el tema del mes de este año es "Promoviendo líderes a través de oportunidades".
