El Día de la Tierra es un día para retribuir a la Tierra. Este evento fue presentado en 1960 por el senador Gaylord Nelson después de la guerra de Vietnam. Se anunció oficialmente en 1970 como un programa de enseñanza.

Earth Day is a time to give back to the earth. This event was brought into view in 1960 by senator Gaylord Nelson after the Vietnam War. It was officially announced in 1970 as a teach- in.

"A mi siempre me a apasionado ser voluntaria o estar involucrada en los eventos de la comunidad desde que llegueaestevecindario.Meinscribí paraservoluntaria,y eran pequeños grupos que venían de diferentes lugares hacer tipo voluntario en el vecindario de Westwood. Eso me ayudo a abrir mas, y crear mas relaciones entre los vecindarios. Es muy bonito de ver que ese inicio fue un paso muy grande porque también hemos alcanzado la involución de la escuela Castro y la escuela Munroe. Trabajamos con los maestros para embellecer los callejones con los ninos, jóvenes y adultos, del nino mas pequeñoreciénnacidohastalaabuelita.

Es un evento muy sano, muy bonito donde ya participa también la Policia, diferentes organizaciones, diferentes culturas mas que nada. Para mi es un gran evento. Ano con ano a sido pues mas y mas participacion. Siempre vamos a decir que es la alimentación del alma dar sin recibir. Mas cuando veo la juventud, ver a los jóvenes participar. Ver que la comunidad les estamos ensenando un poquito de lo mejor que podamos hacer día a día y los beneficiossanosquepuedeexistircuandounoseune."

I have always been passionate about volunteering and being involved in community events since I came to the Westwood neighborhood. Volunteering has helped me open up and become more social and create more relationships within the Community. I have met new peoplefromdifferentorganizationalloverColorado.

VolunteeringhasgrowndrasticallyfromwhenIstarted. It has grown to reach the involvement of the Castro and Munroe Elementary Schools. We are able to beautify the alleyswhileteachingtheyouthandadults,fromtoddlersto grandparents, what Volunteering in your Community means. It's showing that just a little we do when volunteering,hashealthybenefitsforthecommunity. I always say "it is the feeding of the soul to give without receiving." especially when I see the youth, participate in thecommunity.
