Sophie is a CORA success story transforming from days of sleeping and sitting for short periods of time, to attending the community access program and receiving one day a week In-home service.. She enjoys provided activities such as painting and assisted outtings to the local library.
Peter is another CORA success story. Peter's home visits have seen his painting skills increased from needing aid to compleing a whole canvas by himself.
LUNGS IN ACTION
The CORA Lungs In Action (LIA) program is a unique approach to the standard program that is available in the broader community The CORA team has built a strong relationships with the main external referrers, Robina Health Precinct and Helensvale Community Health. The LIA program allows the graduates to continue exercise and maintain what they have achieved at pulmonary rehabilitation and heart failure rehabilitation in a safe and supported environment. Each CORA Lungs In Action class includes a morning or afternoon tea, to give attendees the opportunity to be social and receive support from others in similar situations. Not only do participants have the opportunity to exercise, maintain and improve fitness and overall good health, they have the chance to share experiences and knowledge and be supportive and encouraging to each other. This provides an inbuilt support group for customers who have stable lung conditions that have completed pulmonary rehabilitation and stable heart failure that have completed heart failure rehabilitation. This holistic approach to LIA is achieving many positive outcomes. All our LIA customers benefit from the exercise but also enjoy the social contact and support and motivation they receive from their classmates and staff at CORA
