Weekly Report and Newsletter - 25th June 2021 Lancaster Auction Mart: Sale of Spring Lambs and Cast Sheep - 21st June 2021 SPRING LAMBS Lancaster auction had a large entry of 951 spring lambs forward, selling to a reduced trade as seen Nationwide but still eagerly bid for by Lancaster’s active ring of buyers. Lancasters overall market average today was 258p/kg. The consignment from J S Horner, Ingleton led the way selling Texels to £152 or 310p/kg, best confirmation butcher type lambs still regularly sold around and in excess of the 300p/kg mark. Other noted prices today saw Texels to £139 from J S Horner, with Charollais to £136 from S Wilson & Son, Scotforth and heavy weight Texels to £133 from PD Anderton, Scorton. Still plenty of lambs today easily selling in excess of the £120 mark. Light weight lambs still eagerly bid for with 32kg Texels selling to £88 from A V Bailey, Cheshire. The lambs trade still remains very buoyant for the time of year, with all lambs forward today still averaging well in excess of the £100 mark. It was noticed today that as more numbers come on the market Nationwide buyers are being more selective and not as keen of leaner lambs. Continental - £125 Wyre Farm, £124 Ellers Farm, £110 Oak Avenue, £107 Little Fell Farm, £105.50 Ripley St Thomas, £104 Burrow Heights Farm. Beltex - £120 Ingleborough Park Drive. Suffolk - £119 Cocker House Farm, £115.50 Stubbins Farm, Hallbeck, £114 Ackenthwaite Farm, Smithy Lane Farm, £109 Cocker House Farm. Dorset - £111, £110 Braddup House Farm. Charollais - £108, £107 Jacksons Farm, £105 Stubbins Farm, £93 Holme Farm House. PRIME HOGGS A handful of prime hoggs forward today saw the consignment of pure Texel tup hoggs from T & CM Kelsall & Sons, Chipping sell to £178, £170 and £155 twice. TOP PRICES: Texel - £178, £170, £155 Brown Brook. Mule - £90 Wyre Farm. Continental - £60 Berry Barn. CAST SHEEP Cast sheep trade today slightly easier with buyers cautious of over fat ewes. Leading the way today was a consignment of pure-bred Texel ewes selling to £153 from T & CM Kelsall & Sons, Chipping, other Texel ewes sold to £138 from WN & D Smith & Sons, Cockerham. Charollais x ewes sold to £122 from Ripley St Thomas School, £120 from PD Anderton,
